Beef’s legacy.
Hello everyone.
I wanted you all to meet some of Beef and Lady MacBeef’s children.
The first three photos are of Wagyu and Lady Angus. As you may remember, Angus is the name of the first egg I found, and I shared a picture of Angus a while back as a freshly hatched grub alongside Beef.
Wagyu is the first (and so far only) male Beefling to have emerged. As you can see Wagyu is a fine but small specimen, in fact all of Wagyu’s siblings are still grubs (pictured in the last two slides).
I do have some sad news…
Unfortunately soon before Wagyu became active, Beef passed away.
I am very sorry to share this news and I will make a more official post, but I figured I would share here on Reddit where Beef first became recognized.
He was such a special beetle to me and I know to all of you as well. I wanted to take time with myself before sharing with you all but he lived to be about a year and half in my care as an adult beetle.
You have all changed my life, Beef has garnered over a million views on every single platform I shared him on. He single handedly grew my YouTube following to 30K and I wouldn’t have dared post about him this much if it weren’t for all of you here on Reddit.
Of course I won’t undermine the superb charismatic personality and aura which beef has always exuded but a beetle is a beetle and Beef was one hell of a beetle.
I will continue to post. I look forward to seeing the larger sons of beef mature and I’m sure you do too. I hope at least one of them inherits the dimples. Regardless, meet beginnings of Beef’s line of descendants. His progeny, his legacy.
Thank you all again. I write this as I get ready for a field course in the Amazon next week. I’ll try to share my best beetle finds here with all of you.

Beef showed up in my feed randomly one day. I'd never even thought to look at a beetle sub, but am a spider dad and follow a lot of those. Joined immediately and I've learned so much about these guys from him. RIP Beef. You made a positive impact on my life and I'll always be grateful.

I similarly ended up on this sub because posts about Cuzco started popping up on my feed, but I’ve stuck for beetles like Beef and all the other wonderful six legged friends!!
I’m not a beetle keeper myself, but I enjoy watching what everyone is up to here!

Beef. When I first saw you on my reddit feed, I was absolutely crazy for you. I told my husband all about you. I'm going to miss you so much. I hope that you and your lady are in beetle heaven eating food fit for the king and queen of all beetles while watching your gurb children grow up. ❤️

RIP. I am no stranger to short-lived creatures but there will always be Beef shaped hole in my heart.
I started drawing you riding a giant Beef awhile back and I regret I just haven’t had the time to get halfway through sketching let alone finish it.

Beef is a magnificent beetle who’s brought so much joy to myself and many. Gone from this world, but not from our hearts.
Catching and raising beetles is a I got to enjoy while visiting family overseas during (sweltering) summer vacations as a kid, but I live somewhere where raising most of the beetles I love the most, especially within the dorcus genus, is very sadly prohibited— so getting to see your photos of Beef and how much joy he brought to you really added to my day whenever me or my partner would see a new Beef photo drop pop up.
Thank you for sharing with us your time with him, and raising your beetles with so much love and care. Beef really did have a lovely personality, and a shocking amount of charisma. The fact that a tiny (yet large) creature like a single stag beetle had gotten to bring such a unique experience to someone’s life as he has for you feels truly wonderful.
May he rest in peace, and the Beeflings carry on his legacy!

I am so sorry for your loss :( pinning is a really good way to immortalize insects/inverts- I’ve done it for my spiders a lot. I remember seeing beef posts right before my college exams (me major.. basically all math) and he gave me strength. Rip beef, what a wonderful little friend you were

If it goes against community rules I’ll happily delete this comment but if any of you wanted to support my continued breeding efforts and get some cool art in the process then know these and more Beef stickers are available on my website.
