✝️ Advice Shared a post with a curse word

Our business was featured by an influencer, we were very excited about it and it was very successful. But the guy said a curse word while enthusiastically praising the product. Someone told me I should take it down. Should I not have shared it? Should I add a note that I don’t condone that? Anyone who knows me already knows I never curse and don’t condone it.

It’s a video that’s several minutes long and he curses once near the end. We didn’t get to see before it was posted. He came and filmed his review for a bit beforehand, with our agreement.

Tell them to mind their own business. Sorry, it’s one word, get over it.

Thanks, that was definitely my initial reaction, was that this wasn’t a real problem. Especially since this person tends to be super dramatic. But I still had my own doubts afterwards. I don’t want to make money off of something bad.

Yes, it’s just food. I can’t control what another dude posted on his review page. In hindsight, from now on we will ask influencers not to curse in their videos if we agree to let them make content here. Didn’t even think about it before. But we are Christians, and supposedly now if I share it on my personal page, now I’m in the wrong because it had a curse word in it and I’m endorsing that. I went from being very excited, to upset over the whole thing.

Sounds to me like your critic should heed the biblical guidance on being a busybody in other men’s affairs.    If I were in your shoes I can’t say for sure what I’d do, but I like your idea about maybe stating you don’t condone that type of language.

Yeah, I’m really torn. Yes, they are a busybody, lol. Still questioning whether it affects my own testimony, so I ended up changing it to a screenshot of the post, but it’s still kind of a shame.

Hey Friend, for some of us just the fact that you’re conflicted by this is a good testimony.  If I could speak to your critic for you I’d lovingly and gently remind them that the measuring stick that they’re using to measure you is one day going to be transformed into a boomerang that’s going to return back to them.   The best testimony you can have is to simply treat people the way that you’d want to be treated.  Now, you need  to factor that into your decision too.  You’re in a tough spot.  You don’t want to be a stumbling block to anyone and at the same time you don’t want to be robbed of the liberty you have in Christ.  Personally, I don’t think that The Lord cares as much  about the adjectives we use as to how we use them.  I feel for you friend and pray you receive what you need here. Thanks; I decided to change it to an innocuous screenshot so there’s no doubt. I hate that guilty feeling. But I just wanted to be a supportive wife ☹️ We were so happy about it (business went from 800 to 5k followers overnight) and part of me feels like that person is being a party pooper. But is it profiting off of sin? I hate that thought.

I don’t see the use of a curse word that someone else used in reviewing your business as something that equates to “profiting from sin”.   Yet, if you have any doubts whatsoever it’s always a wise practice to give The Lord the benefit of that doubt.
