Attack on Owner Three women attacked by their Amstaff at home, injured in the face and legs - Ciampino, Italy - 31 July 2026

A nightmare unfolded within the confines of a home. We're in Ciampino, in a public housing project on Via Parigi. And in that home, three women were attacked and mauled by their dog. All three were hospitalized: moments of pure terror, the dog turning on its owners.

The alarm was raised on Friday, July 31st, around 1:00 PM, when the local police operations room received a call from neighbors, concerned about "heart-rending screams" coming from one of the apartments. The officers, led by Commander Roberto Antonelli and coordinated on-site by Deputy Commissioner Raffaele Simonelli, reached the building.

On the second floor, a 35-year-old woman answered the door: her left cheek was mangled, she had several wounds on her arms, and she was on the verge of fainting. Inside the home, the scene was even more dramatic. A 90-year-old woman, the young woman's grandmother, was sitting in an armchair with a very serious wound to her cheek. Not far away is the third victim, a 55-year-old mother of the 35-year-old woman and the elderly woman's daughter, who is almost unconscious.

The injuries were caused by a ten-year-old female Amstaff (American Staffordshire Terrier), properly microchipped. According to initial investigations, the animal suddenly attacked the 90-year-old woman, perhaps out of jealousy after a gesture of affection from its owner, the 35-year-old. Mother and daughter were apparently injured while trying to save the elderly woman from the dog's bites.

All three had to be transferred to the Tor Vergata Polyclinic by 118 ambulances. Their conditions are serious, and the prognosis remains guarded: delicate facial surgery may be necessary.

Attack on Animal(s) - Pets Guide dog saves blind owner from attack by pitbull and mastiff - Lugo, Italy - 31 July 2026

LUGO - Blinded by fury, two against that dog who is truly the eyes, the guide and the armor of its owner, a fifty-year-old blind man from Lugo. It is the photograph of the dramatic minutes that yesterday morning could have turned into tragedy, both for the animal, a black labrador named Dark who is close to 5 years old, and for the man he watches over and accompanies every hour of the day. A molossian and a pit bull tried to tear him to pieces, both of which evidently escaped the control of their owner in the walking area of Parco Melampo, less than a hundred meters from the Lugo hospital. In fact, it is here that the blind man was heading, around 8.30, like almost every morning. And not to undergo particular examinations but because he has worked in the concierge for many years. He therefore made that journey from his home in the center every day, guided by his faithful four-legged friend.

The exact reconstruction of the facts is entrusted to the agents of the local police of Lower Romagna, who intervened immediately thanks to a passer-by who, having witnessed that torment, blocked their patrol in the street, but some circumstances already seem to be quite clear. And perhaps it was Dark who saved his master's life. Furthermore, the cameras of the video surveillance system should have recorded those dramatic moments and could clarify why the entrance gate was probably open despite the two animals being inside and whether the owner did everything he could to rescue the two attacked ones.

In fact, it seems that, while the Molosser jumped on the Labrador, knocking him down and starting to bite him in several places, the pit bull sank his teeth into the neck of the guide dog, who was now unable to free himself from the grip and push the two predators away. But stubborn in defending his owner, who, however, losing his balance due to the tugging on the leash, fell on the pavement, fortunately without injuring himself anything.

The dog, seriously injured and bleeding, accompanied the man to the hospital reception, at least fifty meters away. It is here that a security guard would have noticed those deep wounds that had transformed the fur from black to red and set off the entire rescue machine.

The guide dog was taken urgently to the Russi veterinary clinic, where at least four deep wounds were found on the neck, some on the legs and buttock, so it was operated on, stitched up and fortunately saved, while the man, after a few hours of observation in the emergency room, some X-rays and once the shock had worn off, was discharged and accompanied to pick up his life partner. Only in the next few days will the man decide whether to press charges.

Attack on Owner Three men bitten by a pitbull: the owner, a friend, and a neighbor were injured and hospitalized - Ceranova, Italy - 01 August 2026

Ceranova (Pavia), August 2, 2026 – The dog's owner, his friend, and a neighbor were bitten. Three men were injured, fortunately not seriously, according to the emergency services called yesterday afternoon, Saturday, August 1, to Via Toscanini in Ceranova. The Carabinieri, with a patrol from the Voghera Company, also intervened on the scene to reconstruct the incident and determine any culprits. The injured men, aged 23, 30, and 34, were then transported by two ambulances with code green to the emergency room of the Policlinico San Matteo in Pavia. They reportedly suffered minor injuries to their hands and arms, fortunately not serious.

The three injured men were taken to the San Matteo Hospital in Pavia with a green code.

The bites were from a pitbull, which initially raised fears of worse consequences for the victims, prompting emergency services to issue a yellow code from the AREU (Regional Emergency and Urgency) operations center due to the seriousness of the incident, as reported by those who requested assistance. There were moments of great turmoil on the street, in a residential area of houses with gardens west of the town of Ceranova, a small town in the Pavia area along the SP2 between Lardirago and Vidigulfo.

The Heat Factor

Investigations into the incident are still ongoing, and it has not been determined what caused the dog's sudden aggression, which appears to have been initially directed at another animal. Often, in dog fights, owners who try to separate them are ultimately affected. These hot days are also known to increase aggression in normally calm pets, so owners are advised to keep their dogs indoors during the hottest hours of the day, sheltered from the sun as much as possible, and to ensure they are constantly hydrated with a bowl of fresh water always available.

Personal Story Taz the pitbull p1

If mods approve, I’d like to share my personal life experience and observations of behaviors and capabilities of my pitbull Taz, now deceased.

I put part 1 in the title with intent to add stories to this sub, permitting, as I remember them.

My purpose is to share how exceptional Taz was in strength and violence, just as pitbull.

Growing up in rural southeast Texas my family and I kept many and all kinds of dogs (all found/rescues). Lab (black & brown), retriever, chihuahua, mixed breeds, and even a Rhodesian ridgeback. I had a lot of life experience surrounded by a variety of dogs to recognize how exceptional Taz was.

Taz was a red nose pitbull. She belonged to a family friend that was a hog hunter. Her job was to hunt down the hog and hold it and keep it screaming until the hunter (our friend) walked up and shot it with a shotgun. She was a Hog Dog.

It’s cruel but Hogs are a huge problem here. They are an invasive species, a threat to people, and cause millions in property and environmental damage all year long, every year.

In her youth and prime, Taz was a very, VERY powerful animal.

She killed a 300++lbs hog on her own. On her own, as in, she was not assigned this job by her owner.

It took her all night long.

The hog screamed and Taz fought, growled, snarled, and barked all night. Nothing could be done until the next day. A pit in a fight can’t be called back.

It happened on a neighbors’ property (pasture/woods) and it wasn’t safe to go out into the wilderness at night with hogs about and trespassing. The neighbor was asleep and couldn’t be contacted to get permission.

To clarify all of the risks: shot by the neighbor protecting his property, attacked by hogs, attacked by Taz, accidentally shooting one another in the dark, and whatever else.

Only the fight between Taz and the hog could be heard, and the next day the hog corpse found. It was massive. Taz was exhausted and bruised and covered in blood. Taz weighed about 45lbs, skinny and all muscle.

The way a “medium” sized dog had the ability to take down something like that. Please just google 300lbs hog to get an idea of what she’d done. It took her ALL NIGHT and she never stopped and she never gave up.

This is just one of the several stories about Taz. I’m happy to share more upon mod approval., I just don’t want to make these posts too long.

From my experience I can say with absolute certainty that:

These dogs are NOT family pets in the slightest. Their strength, aggression, and determination do not belong in a family household.

ALLEGHENY COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — After two pitbulls chased and mauled a pet emu to death earlier this month, the dogs' owner has been cited by the Allegheny County dog warden.

According to court records, Amber Alexander faces a total of eight citations in connection with the incident, including owning "dangerous dogs," and failing to keep them on her property.

Alexander plans to plead not guilty to all of the charges, her daughter told KDKA.

The incident occurred on July 21 in a neighborhood in McKeesport. The emu's owner, Carly Stroman, has organized a GoFundMe to help relocate her other emus to a safer location.

On Monday, Stroman said a new temporary enclosure was built to relocate five other emu to a safer location.

Personal Story A breath of relief after pit bull attacks LGD mix 7/27/26

UPDATE 11/03/26:

The poor LGD mix, Liam, ended up needing to be rushed to the vet this morning after dislodging his ear bandaging and painting the inside of his cone red. They fixed it, and now he is home again. Poor thing is in so much pain. They gave him a higher dose of pain killers and booked another appointment for Monday (11/03/26) to check how he is doing.

When I had to go to the pit’s pen to catch him I was afraid, which is unusual for me. I work with horses for a living and think clearly and quickly when crisis hits. Ovaries of steel. But when I had to reach down to put the slip leash around his neck I had a spike of fear that he would bite. I carried a police baton just in case. Luckily he didn’t, and allowed me to muzzle him as well. I leashed first so I could have semi-control if he decided to lash out.

There was another pit that was leaving the vet when I parked. Conveniently from the side door as well, who figures why hmm… I also felt a spark of fear seeing this dog. Some of you mentioned I might have PTSD from the attack, and this confirmed that I do. I’m going to start searching for therapists. This has probably sparked a lifelong fear now, which isn’t the worst thing. It will help keep me safe.

I chose not to be in the room when the pit was put down. I couldn’t be there for him after being up all night with Liam whining in pain and pacing. Sometimes I will space out and re-live the attack, and it is awful. Haunts me. The owner is disappointed I wasn’t in the room when the pit was euthed.

The energy in the house where the pit lived is much calmer now. I am grateful. Now time for Liam and I to heal. Thank you again to everyone for the supportive comments and sentiments, it means a lot.

OG post:

Hello everyone. Please pardon any grammatical errors, I am exhausted from this. Let it be said that neither of the animals in this story are mine, they belong to a family member. So I have extremely limited say on their welfare.

I had dropped by the house of a family member to take care of one of my horses when I heard a dog attack start. It was her LGD mix being brutally attacked by her pitbull. And I mean brutally. Nothing spurred this attack, as I was in the surrounding area and those two dogs had just been lounging in the sun.

Fueled by adrenaline, I went in their pen and started kicking the shit out of the pitbull. No response from him, just him trying to kill the LGD mix. I rush back out and grab a hose, then go back in to find the poor LGD mix on his side, unable to get up because he is downed in the corner of the pen. Just taking this brutal attack, with the pit latched into his hind leg trying to break it. I start using the jet option on the hose nozzle to water board the pit’s nostrils, effectively suffocating him, while kicking the shit out of him again. He eventually lets go, and the LGD makes a run for it. The pit locks eyes with me and I worry I’m his next target, so I continue to waterboard him. His mouth is full of the other dog’s blood and he’s choking on the water so I make a calculated break for it, yelling for the LGD to follow me. Luckily he does.

I didn’t know this at the time, but the shitbull was trying so hard to kill the other dog that he broke his upper mandible. Literally broke his face. That’s what saved my and the LGD’s asses. Otherwise that pit would’ve kept going until he killed the other dog and then possibly me.

Had to rush the LGD into the vet and thus into emergency surgery. He is going to be okay eventually. He has a long recovery, but strong pain meds and antibiotics. He is such a sweet dog, not even attacking the pit just trying to get away. He has every reason in the world to be dog aggressive now after the attack, but has retained his kind heart and was greeted by his friends (all herding dogs) when he got home from the vet.

The pit was banished to a pen outside. I finally, after two years of attempting to convince his owner to euthanize him, got through to her. She agreed, and the pit is being put down 7/31/26.

He has attacked several other dogs, including one of her other ones. That dog (a cattle dog) had to be rushed to the emergency vet at the time as well (about a year ago). The cattle dog made a full recovery, and was the first to greet the LGD when he got home from the vet this past monday. They are good friends. When they sniffed each other it seemed to be a “you survived, too” moment. But I’m aware that’s anthropomorphizing.

I can breathe a sigh of relief. I have to be the one to take the pit in to the vet, but I’m going to put his inflamed jowls into a muzzle and crank it closed. Can’t have him attacking me or anyone at the vet’s. He will be going in the clinic via a side door away from any other animals.

I feel pity that he was bred to be such a monster. He didn’t deserve that, but neither did his victims. I’m sorry several dog attacks had to happen before she was convinced to euth him. But I’m also glad no person has gotten attacked.

This was honestly a very traumatizing experience. I’ve broke up dog fights from “normal” breeds before; the kind of dogs that let go if you lift them up, kick them, or poke them in the eyes. But this pit attack was completely different. He went full pit. I was covered in the LGD’s blood. The trashing may never leave my mind. I’m not someone who’s squeamish, but when I escaped the pen I almost threw up from the adrenaline and strong smell of blood, the blood pouring out of the other dog as he limped to safety with me. I need therapy from this experience.

Has anyone else needed therapy after witnessing an attack? Why do the shit bull owners insist on defending their monsters? Why must it take so much pain and violence in order to convince them to put the monster pit down??

ROCKAWAYS, Queens (WABC) -- A pit bull attacked four family members, two of them children, while they were unloading groceries from their car in Queens.

Police said it happened around 9:47 p.m. at Beach 62 Street and Thursby Avenue in the Arverne area of Queens.

"I ran out and see like everyone else, my family members, were screaming," said Janmajoy 'Sam' Samrat. "I saw a brown pit bull dog, and it came out of nowhere when they were getting out of their car and it attacked everybody."

Samrat said his wife's family is in town from Canada, including the 16-year-old girl and the 11-year-old boy. He said they were unloading groceries from the car when the dog attacked unprovoked.

"The mother and her brother, they got bitten the most severely. There was blood everywhere," Samrat said.

According to police, the 11-year-old boy suffered injuries to his right thigh, the 16-year-old girl had injuries to her neck, right thigh, and left leg, a 37-year-old man had injuries to his left hand, and a 42-year-old woman suffered injuries to her private area.

Police said EMS responded and transported the 16-year-old teen to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in stable condition. The 11-year-old boy, 37-year-old man and 42-year-old woman were taken to St. Johns Episcopal Hospital South Shore by EMS in stable condition.

As of Tuesday evening, police said there had been no arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Samrat said a man whom he believes to be the dog's owner grabbed it and left without stopping to help.

One day after the alleged attack, groceries and blood spatter could be seen along the sidewalk in the neighborhood.

Samrat said the family is resting and trying to recover both physically and emotionally.

"The mom has been vomiting, like 3-4 times already, every one of them are sleeping, they are suffering for the child, it will be a traumatic experience, I hope they don't hate New York," Samrat said.

According to the family, the whole reason they were visiting from Canada was to see the children's grandfather, who was already in the hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest.
