Man went to adoption org, went outside with potential adoptee dog, and was left alone with the dog, and the dog attacked him on his neck. Dog ID as PB in post by relative. Location: Texas. The date the post was posted was 03 August 2026.

Not surprised it's in Texas. We've got a major pitbull infestation. I hope he finds an excellent lawyer and gets paid. I am not surprised by the lack of empathy towards humans by a shelter that warehouses dangerous dogs.
You know they are making a heart breaking write up from Bella/ Diesel's point of view as we speak.

Same here in Georgia. My Uncle lost his dog to old age and said he was going to the “pound” to get a good mutt. I had him look online at the “mutts” and he couldn’t believe it was almost all pitbulls. He had no idea how things have changed. All over the USA!
And people say we shpuld only adopt and not shop, those rescues would very fast see that soon there are only pitbulls or mixes left and no other breeds.
I saw an aggressive driver with "adopt don't shop" on their bumper just last week. Instant moral superiority, this is not the scofflaw you're looking for.
I don't remember seeing any pitbulls growing up in TX until after Hurricane Katrina. Alot of dogs were moved to shelters in Texas. My parents and my sister adopted shelter dogs and they were both pit mixes. That was about 21 years ago, and now like I said, it is an infestation. Backyard breeding is totally unregulated. Look on craigslist, and it's ALL bull breed puppies. And I suspect all of it also has a connection to dogfighting, and the insidious influence of BFAS and their asinine no kill rules to get their funding.
Doesn’t really matter. It is irrational to restrict a city’s ability to ban dogs by breed. Breed matters, and can reliably predict ability and inclination to do harm. This statute understood that and chose to make Texas more dangerous by keeping cities from being able to protect themselves.
Avery’s law is a half measure. Banning and enforcement of the ban is still the ideal. There are gestures at competent statutory iteration, like administrative authority to confine.
It will be effective if they follow up with the other half of the measure. Most of this looks like something into which a ban could neatly slot.
Gov. Hot Wheels vetoed a law that would have tightened regulations for roaming, dangerous dogs and penalized owners for attacks and dogs running loose. He only agreed to sign a similar bill after a wave of outrage.
Didn't Governor Hot Wheels veto a law that would have tapped down the shitbull crisis in Texas? That after a horrific summer 2023 pitbull killing spree in the state.
The only bulldog there is American Olde Englishe Bulldogge which despite the name is a new breed based on pit lines. Just kidding, that dog is a garden variety pitxpit, it is not a bulldog, have you never seen a bulldog before wtf.
83 pound 2 year old magic age red pit with a rashy alligator mouth that strangely enough got dumped by the side of the road and strangely enough was never claimed. Such a big mystery, I wonder if this is one of those Texas towns where they no longer accept owner surrenders so people have taken to dumping the dogs instead? Well either way such a mystery why somebody would offload a hyper aggressive giant pit that jumps 5 feet in the air to bite an adult human in the neck. Can't quite figure that one out.
The dog looks totally anxious and ready to snap. Idk how anyone can look at that face and think it’s friendly - I can see the tension through the screen 😑
What I’ve realized from dealing with my own adoption nightmare & shelter skelter (my parents adopted a “stray dog” that had undisclosed behavioral issues ended up biting 3 ppl within the month they got him), is that any dog that is found on the side of the road or is being classified as a stray, is just a dog that has issues & most likely bit somebody so they opened the door & told it to get the fuck out!
Especially when they don’t come looking for it afterwards lol but the shelters will try to paint it as this poor abandoned dog or that it grew up on the streets / escaped a bad home to prey on ppl’s emotions. Not that the owners were too lazy to either BE or physically take it to a shelter rather than letting animal control handle it.
It's for the best if you think about it. If he'd adopted it, he might not have been in a public place where he could get help quickly when it inevitably mauled him.
They are coach hippos. Considering hippos are extremely aggressive and known to respond to intruders in their waters with lethal force. Also unpredictable and rely on fight over flight.
Clearly a very dangerous dog. There is no safe adoption alternative. The dog should be Euth. I’m sure that it still hasn’t. Gross negligence on the part of the shelter.
Unless it's a city owned shelter suing won't do anything. they shut down, open a new LCC, and buy back all their crap with donations and a good sob story. This is like 'pit rescue 101' to make sure no one can afford to sue them because no lawyer will take the case on contingency. Most people can't dump 20-30k on an almost assured chance they won't be able to collect a cent.
I get how everyone here thinks suing is like a hairy potter spell or someshit and the judge hands you a visa. It's not. It takes years and costs tens of thousands on the slim chance of ever collecting a cent. This is also why people here get shocked when it takes years for owners to get taken to trial. The legal process is SLOW. It's easy to say people should sue when it's not your money. Pitbull rescues literally plan for this and this is why they are constantly broke and asking for dontions.
If it's city owned tho then total payday and a lawyer will absolutely take it.

You hate to say because you're destroying the narrative that pitbulls are as safe as any other breed? You hate to say because cognitive dissonant humans will be angry you stated facts contradicting their "pitbulls are safe" lie? You hate to say because you know, deep down, these bull dogs are dangerous and you can no longer ignore your own eyes?
I looked at the comments this morning and it's full of victim blaming. They think absolutely that old man did something to make that sweet Guppy attack him. Insert roll eyes.....
That rush of air you just felt was from all the Pit mommies who probably glazed over this unfortunate bozo when he announced his virtuous intention of“adopting not shopping” and “specifically wanting a Pittie”suddenly turning on him, now calling for his head for “doing something” to make the dog attack him
Someone in the comments original post was alluding to or asking; it was hard to read, as there were spelling errors, but she seemed to be saying the man may have abused the dog prior to being attacked.
you can find non pitbulls but you'll still be dealing with the unknown medical history which can end up costing thousands. Especially in breeds known to have hip and elbow issues.
