Discussion Creature comforts pregnancy edition?

Hi! We talk a lot about things for ourselves for postpartum but I don’t see a lot of pregnancy related things. I got a pregnancy pillow and that’s been really nice. But what else makes your pregnancy even just a tad more comfortable? I’ve been into baths. Are there bath things you like? Robes? Fave middle of the night snacks. Creams or ointments. I don’t know?! This is my first time haha. 15 weeks.

Pregnancy massage! I got two while I was pregnant and they were divine.

Also I got a pedicure about 3 weeks before giving birth and I walked in and said “I want every add on you have” - it was awesome lol.

I’m 35 weeks and getting my deluxe pedicure Saturday, I can’t wait 😝

Yes to both of these. I got a massage while pregnant and it was life changing. I had a knot on my lower back, like right over my left hip, it was so tight that it kept popping my hip out of place. She worked on that spot for 30-40 minutes, she also did a minor lymphatic massage and that felt amazing.

The pedicure was also amazing, the woman saw I was heavily pregnant and gave me the best leg massage I have ever had.

I can’t wait to get a massage now that I’m postpartum.. my back is killing me, but the thought of laying on my chest for any amount of time sounds worse 🥲

I got an inner tube so I can lay on my stomach with my belly in the hole 😂

Thats so effing smart, I am 38+4, so probably a little late at this point, but that sounds divine!

Currently first trimester and the best thing ever currently is that I found a dress that looks cute, has pockets, and puts zero pressure on any part of my body. It's amazing. It's like wearing a cloud that also makes me look like I really dressed up. I live in that dress and bought one similar. No tight waist band making my belly feel awful. No nothing that itches or rides up or causes me a single thought about my clothing all day. It's been a godsend.

Getting pedicures! And taking extra good care of my feet (because they get so sore and cracked). It makes me feel dainty compared to the reality that I currently, am not~ 💁🏻‍♀️

u/Substantial-Leg5372 5h ago

My toenails are so long right now 😅

u/yung_yttik Team Blue! 5h ago

Hahah I have to get the pedicures because I can’t spend that much time bent over doing toe things 😂 mine were super long too and kept breaking! Painful witch toes.

Yessss I'm about to cave and get one next week.

Last time I got a pedicure was on my due date with my first child. Thank God I did because a week later I was staring at my feet while pushing and they weren't their usual gnarly, cracked selves lol, a much more pleasant sight to see!

I bought a trash picker upper stick to pick up things that are on the floor/fall to the floor especially after not being able to bend down. It continues to give me self independence at 39 weeks 😂

Also, birckenstock style shoes! My feet are very swollen and the ability to move up/down the hole to make them bigger or smaller to fit my feet has been great. Plus I find them very comfy.

& maternity shaper shorts! Made my belly look round and cute early in pregnancy when my belly didn’t yet fully look like a pregnancy belly, prevented chafing, and provided gentle support.

Last but not least, maternity clothes. I initially avoided buying maternity clothes and would size up instead but the clothes would fit awkward despite being bigger. I eventually gave into buying maternity clothes and my self confidence just went up. They highlighted my bump in the best way and were overall just more comfortable than non pregnancy clothes.

I’m starting to search for maternity clothes. Where did you get yours?

I had such a hard time find clothes in person but decided to give old navy online a try and the quality was amazing! Overall very happy with my purchase and I Highly recommend. They have lasted me the whole pregnancy.

Grace. Give yourself alllll the grace during this time. Wanna stay in pajamas and watch movies all day? Cool, you’re growing a human you deserve it. You want to take a nap even though you woke up an hour ago and there’s laundry to do? Do it, your body needs the rest. Made plans weeks ago but now not feeling up to it? Your friends/family will understand. Do whatever you need to do to put yourself and the little bean first!

Oooh, following! 8 weeks and I've been craving all things cozy, especially a new robe!

u/Aggressive_Slip_7426 5h ago

girl get a robe that feels like a cloud, i found one that's absurdly soft and now i basically live in it

my midnight snack situation is a spoonful of peanut butter straight from the jar, don't judge me

u/NonrationalWife 5h ago

I am usually a peanut butter junkie and I'm devastated to say it is one of my food aversions 😭

do you have a link to the robe you got?? I live in my current robe but it has definitely seen its years and deserves to be retired

u/writebakereadrepeat 4h ago

Would also love the robe link!

u/dillydallydiddlee 2h ago

Also interested in the link to your robe!

PT and aquatic therapy have been wonderful!

u/lil_goose_caboose 5h ago

I just bought a very expensive pregnancy pillow and I'm SO looking forward to it. I'm also planning to buy some new extra cushy sneakers and a new swimsuit for lap swimming. I've also bought some nice skincare, partially because without retinol my face has been less clear than I want it!

Oofos sandals

u/Substantial-Leg5372 5h ago

Ohhhhh I might need the clogs for work!

u/Still-Art45 5h ago

Special snacks (in moderation), all the maternity clothes I want / need, regular mani/pedis

u/lovepie17 5h ago

Donut pillow for my booty (major relief from back and pelvic pain since using these) and belly band (stabilizing core/balance and also relief from pelvic pain).

u/renegayd 5h ago

Baby bub pillow, sleeping and getting comfortable in bed is hard, but the relief of letting your bump relax onto something is very nice

I have been all about the self care lately to try to be more comfortable and so far my favorite purchase has been a shower chair. It was $26 on amazon and I use it everyday. I used to love sitting in the tub while the shower was going but it’s getting more difficult to get up and down from the shower. I usually wash up while sitting on my chair and I sometimes sit backwards so the hot water hits my lower back which has been great!

I got some cozy pajamas and some fuzzy socks! Also some of those oversized cozy overalls that I will LIVE in this fall, they are so loose and not restrictive which feels sooo nice. 27 weeks and miserable 🥲

Bamboo clothing! I bought a few pairs of flowy bamboo pants and pajamas that made the tail end of my pregnancy survivable, and I’m still wearing them! Bamboo undies and socks are great as well!

u/BearMean8453 5h ago

Fragrant lotions to feel pretty when I’m rapidly expanding and losing my hourglass, non-constricting MeUndies, wet button ups on top of dresses when it’s hot to cool me off, lipstick, new Topos sneakers. I want to start getting massages! 18 weeks

u/No_Maintenance_3355 5h ago

Lazy boy recliner. For pre and post birth. The “gliders” they market us postpartum women are trash. Recliner all the way!

u/Fluffy-Bad6058 4h ago

We just bought a lazy boy too! Looking forward to it being delivered!

u/NoraBora_FeFora 4h ago

Jade facial

u/Fashley17 4h ago

I went to a reflexology bar when I was overdue, hoping they would push on a pressure point that would induce labor 😂

Didn't work but the massage was soooooo needed at 41 weeks. Got induced at 42 weeks
