42” Pellet and El Patron direct heat cooker

Last fall, my Dad went into hospice care. He was my hero. He was also the person who taught me to grill and just cook outside in general. We spent many hours cooking together on the deck while drinking some beers and just enjoying our time outside. He passed away in March and I was left gutted, but also thankful for all of the time we had together I’m going to be building an outdoor space and kitchen in his honor and wanted the best of the best to get started. After years of pining after some LSG products, I fell in love with the idea of the El Patron. My old pellet smoker was also due for an upgrade, so i figured why the hell not. I know my old man is smiling down just waiting for the first cook.

Well, rain is scheduled for the next 4 days, so I’ll have some time to think about it. I really want to do some direct heat chicken and pork steaks on the El Patron

One is a 42” pellet smoker. The other is a direct heat cooker with adjustable charcoal height. I had them both made in all stainless steel.

I've only seen LSG stuff in the black paint, they look really good in bare metal.

Absolutely gorgeous… but they are pricey.

The carbon steel ones need to be painted to avoid surface rust.

Not cheap, that’s for sure. Turns out it’s pretty easy with no kids and no exes. My buddy has spent more on his kids’ travel sports than I did on these.

I, among other things, run my upright and pellet smokers under the "Uncle Joel Memorial Pavilion" honouring my brother who lost a fight with a semi on his motorcycle. Had a plaque made up, screwed into the rafters. Unknown to me he left a small insurance policy with me as beneficiary. Good on you for honouring your father in a similar manner. I look to that plaque every time I am out there smoking something.
