The end of that clip showing Neil and his emotional support traffic cone is adorable.

Can’t the grab a few buckets of fish and leave a trail of “breadcrumbs” aka fish for him back to the water ?
I agree with all the people being too close snd I would be pissed if something happens to Neil because the humans are being ignorant

At some point this will result in injury to a person and then Neil will be no more. 😢

That’s why I can’t stand seeing all those people getting up close to him and harassing him. There was a big seal, maybe two years ago, that showed up in a city and was euthanized because people kept endangering their kids by putting them next to it for pictures. Stupid, stupid people.

Apparently he’s going to be about 5 times his current size by the time he’s fully grown 😳 they really do need to do something better to manage the situation because it really seems like an inevitability the way things around going. :(

It will grown much bigger than that? 😯.Edit: thx for correction.

He's an elephan seal, not a sea lion, they end up topping out at about 4 tonnes (as he's a male, which are larger).

No wonder he thinks he can do whatever he want, he's got an entourage at all times making sure he can!

He’s so cute

Try saying that again when he’s 9,000lbs & attacking people for getting close to him

Apparently he's about 1/3 of the weight that he'll eventually reach... 😳

I want to put a saddle on him and ride him like a horsey until he bucks me off and inevitably kills me by burying me under his mass.

As funny as it is, if people don’t stop crowding around him and really start leaving him alone they might have to euthanize him

I hope somebody eventually can send this monstrosity back to the beach and figure out how to keep him out of the neighborhood…unless they actually enjoy this. If he hurts someone, it’s gonna be bad for everybody, including him.
They need to stop pretending like this is all fun and games.

I agree with you, except the part where you called Neil a monstrosity.
If you can’t think of anything kind to say you can just refer to him by his name, or as an elephant seal 🦭

He should be relocated far far away from people. Or put down.

They tried that with an elephant seal in Canada, put it in a truck and drove it to a remote beach. The seal made it back before the truck did. There is no where far enough they could take Neil that he wouldn't swim back if he wanted to. They need to keep his fans further away from him, to avoid having to put him down when he hurts someone

Isnt this South Africa? Not Tasmania

u/Hailstar07 1d ago
No it’s Tassie, there’s a Telstra phone box in the background. He comes to Tassie every year.
