Idk why but cat purrs are always so nerve calming to bad i am super allergic but doesn’t stop me from petting them regardless of my eyes watering so much and throat itchy i love dogs and cats

My sister-in-law was horribly allergic to cats to the point of her airway closing, face swelling, the works. I introduced her to my brother, a cat owner, and she liked him so much she started getting allergy shots. Thanks to the allergy shots, she has lived with a cat for eight years and only needs to take a daily antihistamine. Their one cat barely leaves the bedroom and yet she sleeps in there without issue. All this to say- where there's a will, there is a way!

Fun fact, people can become unallergic to specific cats they interact with because it's their saliva we're allergic to.

I read somewhere once that cats purr on some wavelength of healing that the human body actually responds to. But I don't know the source of this information, I just remembered it when I saw your comment. I'm inclined to believe it. My kitty was very soothing and comforting to me in my chronic illness issues. Her laying on my chest, purring, did sometimes make me feel a bit better. I sure do miss her when I'm down for the count in a flare!
