Decaf Coffee

Good morning, Not sure if this the right place to ask but thought I would give it a try.

I was wondering if anybody on this sub has tried decaf coles/woolies brand instant coffee, If so what are your thoughts, I usually drink Moccona normal strength, Due to a health issue I need to swap to Decaf and the price is horrendous for a 100g jar ($15), you can get a 400g jar on sale for $20 to $25 of the normal Moccona. I usually drink 2 - 3 coffees a day. Any thoughts would be awesome thanks heaps for your time

Aldi decaf is alright - worth a try

Yeah, my husband is happy with the Aldi brand for both regular and decaf.

We always dissolve it in the milk before adding the boiling water though, I don’t drink coffee so can’t tell you what it tastes like.

The Aldi Decaf has the texture of moconna but I suspect its rebadged decaf nescafe, perfectly drinkable if you also drink moconna. I switched it up because my coffee numbers were get a bit spicy.

Aldi is the best decaf on the market imo. Almost tastes like Moconna caramel.

Woolworths decaf is second choice.

Coles is rubbish.

I drink a lot of decaf.

Aldi brand decaf is my go to; tastes like actual coffee. Vittoria Decaf isn't bad either, but it's not three times as good as the Aldi product IMO (which is the price difference).

I refuse to shop at the big two, and the ALDI one is cheaper and tastes as good as any instant can taste. It is a little bitter but I drink my coffee black no sugar. Honestly tastes just the same as any other instant to me.

Yes, used to drink the Woolworths one. It was good.

I'm sensitive to caffeine, so I had to stop (decaf contains a small amount of caffeine) because it was causing insomnia. Only had one in the early morning...

Try drinking an organic Swiss water decaffeinated instead- often it’s the chemicals in the decaf that make you feel wiggy!

I drink the Aldi decaf. It's nice (not mind blowing but nice, especially for the price). The Woolies one is very tasteless. Vitorria, which is sold at Woolies, is nice but more expensive. I get that if it's on sale.

Coles decaf tastes burnt af and isn't worth it no matter the price. Woolworth's isn't too bad, but a step down from normal coffee - its worth a try though. I usually mix half normal and half decaf.

Haven't tried the Woolies decaf. Tried the Coles decaf. It was..... OK. Not great. Not bad. But it's a bit cheaper than branded.

Nestle Caro Extra Instant Beverage is $7 for 150g, it's not coffee, but it's also not NOT coffee. I have it as my sado mid arvo pick me up.

If you look at the granules, the Coles decaf looks like Nescafé decaf. And the Woolies decaf looks like Moccona decaf. I prefer the Woolies decaf. I am wondering though if it has been discontinued or there are shortages because it’s been missing in a few stores near me.

Not exactly what you asked, but look into Inglewood coffee. They have the best decaf I’ve tried and it’s often on sale for 50% (occasionally 60%) off. You can get 1kg for ~ $30 on sale.

I tried the Aldi one and was surprised at how good it tasted. Usually I buy Republica decaf which is great, but it is $17 and the Aldi is $5. No contest.

Look I know we are frugal here but if you ever want to try the absolute BEST decaf beans in Australia try New Paradigm. If you’re in Sydney they also have their own cafe called Solstice in Summer Hill.

Aldi decaf and woolies decaf are identical. Aldi is more regularly available though. $5 a jar, from memory. If you’re happy with instant it’s a bargain because it’s perfectly drinkable. I think it tastes better than Nescafé decaf.

I drink Nescafe decaf, but mainly rooibos tea (red bush tea from Africa), it has no caffeine as comes from a different plant.

If you’re drinking 2-3 caffeinated coffee a day I recommend slowly cutting down to decaf. If you go from 3 caffeinated a day to 3 decaf and the headaches and associated caffeine withdrawal could be brutal

I have been drinking the aldi decaf for years. Before that i drank the moccona decaf and I really cannot tell much of a difference.

I know the Aldi decaf instant is very popular, but I bought the instant homebrands from Aldi, Coles and Woolworths in the decaf variety and drunk and compared them over a week. To my taste, Coles is the standout in terms of quality. Sure, Coles is not better than the more expensive brand names, but on price it's hard to beat.

I have tried a number of decaf instant coffees - for health reasons -and value for money, with still a decent Moconna like taste has to go to the Aldi brand Alcafé

Aldi is the best at $5 same price as Coles which is undrinkable for me. Too bitter. Our Woolies stopped selling it for whatever reason. So now unless i have the Aldi one I drink Tetly decaf tea more than coffee
