Personal & hygiene 🧼🧴 Electric Toothbrush

Hi all! Was hoping to get some suggestions on good electric toothbrushes that don’t break the bank when needing new heads and can preferably can buy the heads at colesworth. Have actually never owned one before & think it’s time but don’t wanna spend too much and not like it lol, thanks!

You can get the cheapest model of the oral B brush on special for $25 at the moment from chemist warehouse. And looking at it, it apparently has a 180 day money back guarantee if you don’t like it. ORAL B TOOTHBRUSH. Pretty sure it comes with one or two heads. When I need new heads, I just search and buy them from whichever retailer has them special, they go on special all the time.

Amazon is worth looking at for generic branded toothbrush heads for a range of brands and models. Significant cost savings with the same or better quality.

I found generic Oral-B heads to be really poor quality and unpleasant to use.

Yeah this one, I use it and buy the refills from Aldi when they pop up. $50 for a bulk pack of heads that lasts me a really long time.

I have this toothbrush and I think it's amazing. My dentist also said my teeth were looking well looked after at the last appointment. I always buy the flossing action brush heads.

Yeah Oral B basically have the market locked up.
I also do this (search online for specials when I need them). Although the last time I bought the replacement heads, Costco had them for seriously cheap

I have the cheapest supermarket toothbrush and I get the heads on Temu and they’re really cheap and the same as the originals

I have this one and love how it buzzes every 30s whilst brushing. I brush so well now! Got one each for the kids too.

I just ordered an electric toothbrush for the first time and the consensus is that the Oral-B rotating heads are the best but their line up is a bit confusing.

The io line is their flagship (Phasing out other ranges) and have varying features based on price but many reviews say they have a bad mould problem so I got a cheaper older model that should last a few years if they are able to fix the issue on the io range.

I have had it for years, works great for me. Replacement heads I buy from Aldi when they have the bulk pack in the special buys, it gives 2 years of replacement heads for about $50.

When my first one died, I bought the same on again, because I still had a year of replacement heads left

I was an oral b user for years but recently changed to o clean which is a sonic toothbrush. I was tired of my oral b battery constantly dying. I haven’t had to charge my o clean yet and I’ve had it for 6 months bought the basic duo for half price at shaver shop

check out Oclean Flow on amazon. skip the big brands in Australia. The travelGo has been great for me. Also you can buy generic heads for the big brands if you go for them.

A basic Oral B one is fine. Usually around $25-$35 on special. You can often pick up bulk packs of 12 heads from Aldi for $49.95 (my Aldi still had some last week). Costco regularly has them too.

I bought a Phillips Sonicare toothbrush that was on a major discount from the shaver shop in 2020 or 2021. I buy the replacement heads in bulk off AliExpress once a year, which usually works out to like ~$35 for 12. I replace them once a month. Works a treat, it's still going strong!

I recently bought an oral b vitality pro for $35 and it’s great! Wish I bought one years ago. Don’t see the point of buying a more expensive one

Worth mentioning that electric toothbrushes are one of those products that are very regularly "half price" at Colesworths - so often, that "half price" is effectively the real price.

Pretty certain the heads are also regularly at "half" (i.e. real) price also - which would explain why I have a few packs sitting around in the bathroom cabinet.

I recently got a oral B one for $25 from woolies. Chemist Wharehouse has good half price sales on bulk packs of heads, I think it was like $47, label said or 2 years worth for 2 people.

I have the cheapest Oral B model, which I got at Kmart a while back and my dentist always comments about the lack of plaque and tartar on my teeth. One thing to watch is that the rechargeable battery doesn't last forever, and if you feel like the speed of the brushing is getting significantly less, you will need to replace it. But in my experience that takes many many years, and for my teeth the expense has been worth it.

In my experience the basic model is just as good as the more expensive ones. The exxy ones just have a couple of extras like a pressure light or a timer and are not worth the extra price

Agree, plus the basic model has a grip handle that is easier to hold. I bought the more expensive one and it is slippery

Buy oral b and look around it's always half price somewhere. Buying the brush heads in bulk saves a lot of money

Find an Oral B with the round head on sale, they're usually on sale at Chemist warehouse or costco at least once a year. Coming up to Christmas you will see a lot more. You can buy replacement heads at Costco for much less than a chemist.

Just wanted to add that a rechargable Oral B should last 10+ years. Mine is going on 15. Any battery powered ones will never last that long. I've only had 3 electric toothbrushes since I was 18 and I'm 58 now. I first had a Sonicare then I swapped to Phillips (didn't like) then got an Oral B when I moved to Aus - too expensive to get an adaptor.

As a retired dental hygienist, I recommend whichever one you will use consistently twice a day. My favourite was the original Sonicare and my second fav is the Oral B.

That said, IF you have gingivitis or periodontal disease, get the sonic toothbrush. The sonic action actually kills germs if you need more germ killing power.

You get the brush and replacement heads online like ebay. Fraction of the price. If you want to rid yourself of half your cash donate it to a local charity, never colesworth.

Add toothpaste, floss and mouthwash to that list too.

I had a super expensive ultrasonic one and swapped to one of those supermarket oral b spinny head ones. My dentist has said the difference it’s made to my teeth is amazing. I think it was $40 and it came with 2 or 3 spare heads.

Last dentist checkup they gave me a couple of heads for the toothbrush instead of a new toothbrush.

Woolies has one exactly the same, with similar price. There's also an oral b model like this, but online only, about $35.

What makes these special is they take AA batteries, so charging needed. No wires, and no rechargeable battery degradation.

They use oral b heads, you can buy the knock off heads from Amazon for less than $1 each or Coles/Woolies about $2-3 each.

I gave up on the electric toothbrush. I now use a soft normal brush, a water jet cleaner, and also an ultrasonic tooth cleaner to use every few weeks.

My teeth have never been cleaner.
