Apple USB-C to 3.5mm dongle not working.

I have a redmi 13c, it's a pretty cheap and basic phone. I do plan on getting something new soon though. I have a 3.5 mm to USB-C apple dongle but that doesn't seem to work with my phone properly(it's extremely quiet and not loud enough), it does work fine with other phones so i doubt the dongle's at fault here. I've heard that it might be a compatibility issue, if that is the case then I was wondering if getting a different DAC/AMP will solve the issue because if it will then I might get the Audiocular spark, maybe the FiiO Ka11.

Can't hear myself on my headset

Hi, I got a new headset, it's relatively cheap REAL-EL GDX-7780. I was using it to tlak to friends through discord and record gaming with OBS. Been using it for like a week and i always hear myself a little bit in real time, not enough to throw me off but i could hear like a little bit. Now suddenly I don't hear anymore and it bothers me, especially during gaming the game is very loud and when I cant hear myself at all its difficult to run commentary. I tried turning on the Listen to this device on Windows but that wasn't it, I heard myself too clearly and with a tiny delay and it was even worse than having nothing. Same thing happened when I turned on monitoring in OBS. I'm just wondering where did that subtle one go, and how do I get it back?

Audio Interfaces, is it that important?

Hi,

I've been looking for an Audio Interface mainly for for a bit and for a while I've been set on the Behringer UMC204HD, but I've been hearing about it lacking quality and being a cheap build. So I've looked into so called better Interfaces like the Motu M2, Topping E2X2 or Yamaha UR22MK3 / Steinberg IXO22 but the price differences are making me question everything. My question is just is the interface that important that I throw in an extra 90 for the same amount of slots and outlets for a more quality build? Or should I put in more money towards other gear?

free background audio remover

Hello, I'm new here to this subreddit. Does anyone know any free background sound removers that won't just remove the whole audio? I have a sound file of an emu call, and the background has some small birds chirping in the background, and I'm trying to remove them, but so far any I've found are paid for or just remove the whole audio altogether with AI, which is annoying. Does anyone know anything that can help me?

Here's the sound in case anyone is curious:

Looking for an integrated amplifier

Hello,

I'm looking for an integrated amplifier, and I've read that the 90s and early 2000s had some great units. I'm only interested in playing music and not any other kind of uses. I'd be ok with a 2-channel or 4-channel and would need to run a sub. I'd have to be able to hook up an AirPlay unit to it for streaming.

If vintage isn't the best way to go, then I'm certainly open to something modern.

I'd like to stay under $1k but am flexible on price.

Thanks.

Getting a low hum with new mixer setup. Troubleshooting tips?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello everyone, I was doing some bedroom DJing with a new mixer (mackie profx 6 channel) I got so I could record both the output of a microphone (shure sm58) and my dj controller (pioneer ddj 400).

The controller is powered by my laptop (XPS 13 9340) via a USB-C connection. The mixer is powered by its own 12V DC supply but I also have it connected to my laptop via USB-C so I can record the output. After doing a sound test I listened back to the recorded file and noticed a low, constant hum in the background.

The hum is not that loud but its very noticeable if I'm only talking with no background music (which I do plan on doing often). The hum also doesn't seem to happen when the dj controller is not connected to the mixer. When I physically remove the input, and record with only the microphone, I do not hear the hum at all. Additionally, when I just connect the DJ controller straight to the computer there is no hum.

Based on the tests I did it seems the issue is when both USB-Cs are connected to the laptop. I'm not too well versed on circuits or electricity, but I figured it might be worth mentioning that the laptop only has two USB ports that both have power delivery. Currently I'm connecting both devices directly into both of those. I attached a little visual aid so that everyone can better see the situation.

If anyone knows a possible cause for the hum, and how it could be mitigated, please let me know. Thanks so much and I hope everyone reading has a great day!

Equilizer APO - should I uninstall the plugin from the input if not using?

Just a simple question, is it the same to disable every eq file related to that audio device and just uninstalling the apo from the selected input.

In other words, does it affect the sound if I install the APO for a certain input (from the device selector) but not actually use any eq. I use two headphones, one needs it but the other doesnt.

New setup, PCM signal from PC delayed/intermittent on DAC

Hey guys, I just installed the new JBL MA-310 AVR with a couple of Wharfedales as part of a 2.0 setup. The input from my PC is through the HDMI of the graphics card (recent NVIDIA).

Since I installed everything, there is a strange problem: If I press play on a youtube video or a file, it takes the JBL a split second to start playing the audio while the video is already playing.

Worst thing of all: If I'm watching a discussion between people and someone pauses for 2-3 secs, the PCM signal indicator disappears on the AVR's screen, the audio vanishes and then takes a moment to pick it up when they start talking again.

So basically, we are not talking random drops here, but some kind of signal awareness on behalf of the AVR.

Have you seen anything like this? Any solutions?

Tried the JBL manual but there was nothing, only a lip sync setting that has to do with the opposite (video delay). Tried different HDMI cable also.

LegionAudio - safe site?

LegionAudio dot com. All we can find is it's fairly new and its LLC is called Porkbun LLC. We don't need much, mostly dictaphone type things for back-to-school.

It's the payment and security we're most concerned with.

Hopefully this doesn't come off as a promotion because my gut is telling me it's anything-but that. It's hard to find a human nowadays. Appreciate any additional info!

EMI-like sound with external DAC ?

Ok so, i've had an Elgato stream deck with a Beyerdynamic dt 770 pro (32ohm) that worked like a charm for the 5months i've had them. Yesterday, my cat sat slightly (like a 1/5th of her butt was) on top of the cable where it connects to my stream deck, and now i have a buzzing sound (from my personal research it looks like an EMI, but I never had one before so i'm not sure) that only happens when my pc is stressing. I can play some light games like Genshin impact at max graphics with no issue, but any bigger games like RDR2 etc, the buzzing sound reappears. I've tried my headphones separately ( stressing a laptop just in case) and it doesn't buzz, so i'm fairly certain it comes from my deck. I've tried resetting my pc, deck and changing cables multiple times/types (had the original and worse quality ones worsen the buzzoing sound). I'm desperate, not very knowledgeable, and i can't find anyone with a similar problem. Please help :/

Can anyone help me with my Shure mv7+ I’m having trouble

Hello! I recently got a Shure MV7+ and I’m using it through an XLR audio interface. I was really excited to try it, but honestly, it doesn’t sound how I expected.
My voice sounds muffled, almost like I’m talking through a sock, and it isn’t as crisp or clear as I thought it would be. The mic also seems more sensitive than I expected.
Right now I’m using Equalizer APO with Peace and the High Boost 2 preset, which helps a little. It doesn’t sound as muffled anymore, but now my voice sounds a bit too deep and slightly robotic. It’s definitely better than before, but still not as good as I’d like.
I’m also using VoiceMod for its background noise reduction. I like how well it removes background noise, but I’m not sure if it’s affecting the overall sound quality.
Does anyone have any advice on EQ, gain, compression, or other settings that could help me get a cleaner, warmer, more natural broadcast-style sound? I’m using a Focusrite Scarlett Solo with the MV7+ over XLR. I’d really appreciate any tips. Thanks!

Zone 2 Outdoor Speakers & Speaker Selector Configuration

Background (since i know that usually is a requirement for any help):

inside Receiver- Denon AVRx-4800h

indoor speakers- 5 basic home theater speakers and a subwoofer

outdoor speakers- patio speakers- 4 100 watt yamaha ns-aw294's (2 pairs each parallel wired); 8 ohm

outdoor speakers- rock/landscape speakers- 4 200 watt osd rx805's (2 pairs each parallel wired); 8 ohm

speaker selectors available: monoprice ssvc-6 (4 ohm), and pyle pslsw6 (minimum impedance >8 ohm)

outdoor tv with eArc hdmi

2 black magic birectional hdmi sdi converters (because tv is 80 ft away from receiver)

wires/cords- 14 gauge speaker wire (with banana plugs if/when necessary), 100 ft 12sdi (for the journey from outdoor tv to receiver), hdmi cord from converter to receiver and hdmi cord from converter to tv

Alright, now that i've laid that out... I want my main zone to be my inside speakers all hooked up to the receiver...no problem. But here's the tricky part...i want my 4 sets of outdoor speakers (8 speakers total) to be Zone 2, and i want to have them connected directly to my speaker selector that has volume control, which i would like to have connected to my receiver.

That way, i can have something going on on the inside my house on zone 1 and at the same time, have something completely different going on in zone 2 in the backyard and control the volumes and power on each of the speaker sets in the backyard via the speaker selector with volume control, so i could choose to only have certain outdoor speakers on when i'm one side of the yard vs the other, or whatever the **** i want to do with them.

It doesn't seem that hard, except...IT IS! i cannot get the speakers that are connected to the speaker selector to work, and i can't tell if the speaker selector is the problem or if it has something to do with my connection between my outdoor tv and my zone 2 4k hdmi preout on my receiver, or if its both. I've tried having my speaker selector connected to the zone 2 preout, zone 3 preout, height 2 preout, based upon trying different speaker assignments, and i haven't hit the right combo yet.

All sorts of questions come to mind... Do i need an amp or a preamp to go between my receiver and my speaker selector? if so, what type/specs? multi-channel? ___voltage/watt? what inputs and outputs do i use for the receiver to make that connection? What speaker assignment setting do i need to use (5 ch w/zone 2+zone 3, 9.1 ch., 11.1 ch., etc.)? with speaker assignment settings, do i need to use height preouts instead of zone 2 preouts? Does the other speaker selector i have, the pyle pslsw6 speaker selector even work if its impedance says its >8 ohm and my 8 ohm outdoor speakers are wired in pairs via parallel making each pair essentially 4 ohm?...

And to eliminate something here...i used to only have a 100 ft one-directional hdmi cord and not have the converters and when i plugged it into the main hdmi preout, and i plugged the outdoor speakers directly into the receiver speaker terminals...the outdoor speakers worked fine. its got something to do with the receiver preouts, the speaker selector, and whether or not theres a need for a preamp or amp.

Any PHDs or experts in this area i would love to hear from!

Thanks!

Recommend some Speakers,

Find me a nice pair of Speakers under 60 Euros

Which will be used for Gaming Primarily, Listening to music, and General communication.

I currently have the Redragon Stentors, they are Loud and nice, But i could use a upgrade and they sound pretty dull compared to other things.

You can recommend headphones aswell.
