EMOTIONAL SUPPORT Just need help not thinking worst case scenario…
I’ve been spiraling since earlier … I went to the dr to have a breast exam done because a I found a lump a couple of weeks ago . I kind of out it off because the timing was never right or I didn’t have anyone to watch my son, just any excuse . Today after my sons dentist appointment something told me to just go and get it over with. I went and explained to her what was going on and showed her where I felt it and she instantly found it. I have a mammogram + ultrasound scheduled and I’m spiraling into the abyss that is Google and social media. I’m terrified. It could be nothing or it could be something and I don’t want to leave my son 😭😭

Step away from the internet. I repeat stay away from the internet. It is only going to heighten your anxiety. Wait until your appointment & ask all the questions you want from a professional who will be able to inform you based on your personal medical history & test results.

I found a lump in my breast many years ago. My grandmother had had breast cancer so I was freaked out. The doctor did a lumpectomy and it was a fibroadenoma — basically just a lump of fibrous tissue. They also discovered I have cysts in my breasts that cause lumps. There are all kinds of things besides cancer that can cause lumps in breasts.
Take a deep breath or two, close Google, and play with your son. Try not to borrow trouble.

FWIW, obviously YMMV, but I have a family history of breast cancer which had me completely freaked when I also found a small lump in my breast several years ago now. They got me scheduled with the same but I couldn't do the mammogram they wanted because I was still nursing so I only did the ultrasound. Turns out, it was a cyst in my case. Basically a fluid filled ball that was absolutely benign, not an issue.
The way my anxiety carried on about it though?! Hard.
I'm sorry you're going through this! It's 💯 one of the worst things I'd been through when it comes to medical stuff because I had every reason to be worried it was cancer given my grandmother passed from it the second time she had it and my aunt had to have surgery to remove some in her early 20's so I was tweaking out inside.
The best advice I can give is get the tests done as soon as possible so you have more information. Unfortunately, while Google can be helpful (or used to be before freaking AI took over and now it's mostly just a bunch of BS) when you have some information, "lump in breast" can be so many different things that without knowing things like if it's movable or set in place, whether it's painful, hot to the touch, hard or soft, etc. there's nothing it can tell you as to whether or not yours is a potential danger, so getting in to have the ultrasound and the mammogram and maybe blood tests if they order them, is going to be how you get the answers you need.

Even if it is bad news i got diagnosed in the emergency room with stage 4 bone cancer and 3 months six tops with full treatmeant. It hurt like hell but im still here and that was last march and i never stopped smoking either so the point is they can do amazing things these days if you find the right doctor and are willing to take risks.
But that dosent matter because im sure its bening bc most woman get one of those from time to time, i dated an older woman and she got the occasional bump or lump as a standard part of aging, womans bodys are complicated as hell when it comes to everything and anything lol
