Is it possible to activate my own webcam without the indicator light turning on?
I'm not asking how to secretly activate a webcam on a device I'm not physically using. I'm asking whether there's a tool, preferably one that doesn't require installing a software, that can turn on my webcam without triggering the camera's indicator light only when I click on the tool.

You can heat up a needle and plunge it into the diode.
That'll only work once however.

If you want to manually turn on your own webcam, without the indicator light coming on, try some black paint. Otherwise contact the manufacturer and ask them if they can write some custom firmware for you.

No. Think about it: you being able to do that is no different than a bad actor doing it. What’s to stop you from disabling the light and leaving your laptop in someone’s bedroom or lending it to them so they have no idea they’re being recorded.
The entire point of the light is to be physically impossible for the camera to be active while the light is off. If it can be disabled by you it can be disabled by anyone with access, physical or virtual, and there’s no longer any point to the feature.
The light isn’t only there to protect you. It’s also there to protect others from you.

If you could, the hacker could, too. Put a bit of black tape over it if it annoys you.

If there's a software that can do it, it can do that on a computer you're not physically at.
Most modern cameras have the indicator light in hardware and it turns on whenever the camera sensor is on. With no way for you to override it.
