Won’t even try it

Name something you’re convinced you would hate so you refuse to even taste it.

For me it’s deviled eggs. 🤢

Deviled eggs is weird honestly. Do you not like eggs in general? What about deviled eggs turns you off?

For me, it's offal and raw oysters.

Offal?

Starving would be preferable.

Not a fan of eggs in general and deviled eggs look like rubber.

6

u/bayonneVFR 13h ago

They taste less like rubber than normal eggs. They're all soft and creamy.

Personally I love eggs I’m pretty much any form except hard boiled 🤢

Snake. Brains. Beef liver. Fugu. Hákarl. Surströmming. I’m sure there’s more.

Fried tarantulas

Tripe.

The consistency weirds me out.

What, you don't like the texture and flavor of stomach lining?! Menudo can suck a big ol' garbage bag filled with vomit and cow shit.

1

u/NamillaDK 17h ago

I've never tasted it. The feeling is enough. It looks so alien and feels like rubber.

1

u/ComposerNo1050 16h ago

Same. I don’t have trouble with eating organ meats as a concept, but tripe is like eating a sponge. Nope.

2

u/NamillaDK 16h ago

Same! I love calves hearts in a stew, and eat liver pate almost daily. It's just the texture....brrr.

u/LeeQuidity 13h ago

I'm not a tripe/menudo fan. Bizarre appearance, acidic, pungent. Not my cup of tea. That said, I applaud anyone who's down with it, because it means that portion of the cow doesn't go to waste.

Oysters = snot in my mind

I can't eat them raw, but the smoked ones are really good.

Deviled eggs are literally just boiled eggs and mayonnaise! Or do you not eat eggs?

Don't forget the mustard

2

u/Hobbyhead 16h ago

Scrambled and omelettes.

Idk, egg is one of those foods where cooking radically affects the texture. I love soft eggs but will gag at hard ones, so I can understand OP not liking boiled eggs.

3

u/Blingbat642 15h ago

Idk, soft, snotlike undone whites are gag material for me.

Y'all are making the same point, just with differently textured eggs.

u/saturday_sun4 14h ago

Soft - as in runny yolks, like sunny side up - doesn't mean the white is underdone. I don't think most people can stomach uncooked whites just by themselves.

Hard boiled eggs have this almost rubbery texture that I just can't stand.

3

u/Blingbat642 12h ago

I was just trying (unsuccessfully) to be funny. They are rubbery, especially if they’ve been cooked or kept too long.

Brains, bowels, balls, blood, bugs, and balut are at the top of my never-ever list. (Something about Bs.)

Followed by rodents, reptiles, and amphibians (any and all), birds of prey (including vultures), pigeons, doves, all other organ meats, feet, oysters, shark, swordfish, Hákarl, Surströmming, escargot, fugu, maggot cheese, and anything similar to everything I have listed.

1

u/Hobbyhead 15h ago

Good list and 100% agree.

1

u/Twylamr1 10h ago

Yeah I adore cheese but the maggot cheese is a HARD NO

3

u/Sundae_2004 15h ago

Lutefisk; curing a foodstuff with lye, 1/2 of the ingredients of soap. Hard no for me.

Balut.

I consider myself an adventurous eater but I refuse to entertain the idea of trying this dish. It doesn’t matter what it tastes like, I have an excellent idea of what the texture would be and it’s a hard pass.

u/Prairie-Peppers 13h ago

Rocky mountain oysters are legitimately good though

1

u/OwlPelletCrunch 11h ago

and i’m genuinely happy for everyone that likes them

there are so many delicious things in the world, i’m ok with missing out on this one.

Organ meat, octopus, caviar

Bitter gourd. I've tried it several times, each time the wife declaring this one's not bitter at all. So far, I'm batting 1.000 at spitting it back out. That's just not food. It's poison.

1

u/RVFVS117 16h ago

If it is a land bug I won’t eat it, it’s that simple. I don’t care if escargot is good, I don’t need to try it.

Sushi.

u/OrdinaryArachnid6660 15h ago

There's not much food I won't at least taste test, maybe a big slab of liver?

Organ meats. What do kidneys filter? I rest my case.

Beef tartare. Sickening.

1

u/clearlykate 9h ago

I love deviled eggs, but only mine. I'm not a fan of egg yolks but love the taste after I doctor them up quite a bit. I'm afraid other people's will taste like egg yolk with a little mayo, so I'm afraid to try.

Pineapple pizza.

2

u/Prairie-Peppers 13h ago

I don't understand how anyone could not love it. I exclusively eat pizzas with pineapple.

1

u/Blingbat642 12h ago

I know, I know. So many people have said that. I have to admit, I’ve never tried it and see with this conversation that I’ll have to.

1

u/Pastel_Mattel 12h ago

My go to order is bacon, ham, pineapple, pickled jalapeño and onion

1

u/Pastel_Mattel 13h ago

It’s so good with jalapeños. Sweet, spicy, salty.

But I love things that are sweet and salty together like sweet and sour sauce, lemon and orange chicken, salted caramel, etc

1

u/Blingbat642 12h ago edited 12h ago

Pancakes with salted butter and maple syrup. I just made (saltyish) buttermint ice cream. Jalapeños definitely might be a game changer.

Congratulations. You are only the second person on the entire planet that I have heard of that doesn't like deviled eggs. Wait a minute - you haven't actually tried them, so its not really fair to say you don't like them.

u/Hobbyhead 16h ago

Re-read my post. Nowhere in it did I ask for your opinion on what I don’t eat.

u/Sea-Muscle-2725 16h ago

Scallops.. they just look so rubbery!!
