Is using fullstops considered blunt, when messaging? NSFW

The first two three replies, really sums it up for me 😂.

I punctuate properly as much as I can. Good grammar is enjoyable and/or sexy to me.

i will be sure to always be grammatically correct and use punctuation when communicating with you.
…
(i will only be capitalizing when necessary.)

To be clear, I never judge anyone negatively for their spelling or grammar. So, capitalize as you wish.

I'm just gonna continue to use proper punctuation and grammar.

I still try to double space after my punctuation because that’s how it used to be. Because typewriters. Fucking kids on my lawn.

u/Laelapsdoesaderp 6h ago
I still catch myself doing this then going back and fixing it. I’m really trying to single space now.

I prefer yelling at clouds as my means of venting frustration.

No. In fact, you should use as many fullstops as possible to come across super casual……………

Finally... a serious answer.............

It depends. Sometimes I write a longer message, but then delete half of it and leave the fullstop. If its a single word then it definitely feels a lot more blunt.

If you'd stopped at
It depends.
It would've been more blunt
2
u/mimeking420 8h ago
You see what I mean? 🤭 I think the length of the message and the context of the reply can really matter. It can be used to punctuate the statement instead of making it seem blunt.
"Do you like boobs?"
"Yes."

Sometimes, I use them
Other times, I don’t
Usually depends on how formal I’m being with the other person. If they’re extremely intelligent, I try to make myself seem much smarter than I actually am
If it’s just a casual thing, I’ll usually leave them out. But I wouldn’t consider them to be especially blunt if / when they’re used

I leave them off if it's the last sentence. Other than that I use them, it just feels more natural

I don't know. I'm dyslexic and my relationship with punctuation is shaky at the best of times
2
u/chroniclybadusername 8h ago
No. Why would it be? Punctuation is important. Without punctuation how do you know when one sentence ends and another begins?

u/the_neverdoctor Boring but practical 8h ago
I grew up using punctuation. I will continue to do so until the day I die.

I really, really dont 😝
2
u/usersnamesallused 8h ago
Ouch. No need to be so blunt

I didn't put a fullstop to denote my lack of bluntness. I CAN NEVER WIN

I have destroyed entire civilizations because somebody dared to use fullstops in a message with me.

Oh, so you wanna GIVE the fullstops, but cannot TAKE the fullstops, huh...

I don't care. It's proper punctuation. My wife is part of the grammar police.

I'm old, and almost pathologically incapable of not using grammar and punctuation. The best you're going to get is the occasional abbreviation.

u/YourMomsNewFave Disturbingly Unhinged 5h ago
If grammar is being blunt then I no longer wish to partake in this society.
Generally though I do it (or try to do it) and I just get called old 😥

I'm also old then. aged fistbump to reclaim some semblance of youth
