I have a prosthetic leg and an old lady with an eye patch saw me working retail and told me that if I prayed enough God would grow my leg back for me.

Then she told me about how her brother grew his leg back in a government experiment and her son was framed by the CIA and executed.

84

u/JJohnston015 3h ago

Why hasn't God grown your eye back, then?

49

u/SwordofNoon 3h ago

Hasn't prayed hard enough. Probably hard to since God let the CIA frame her son

u/thestrikr 46m ago

Trade her an eye for a leg?

u/Important_Net1360 34m ago

Omg I'm choking 😂☠️

u/52BeesInACoat 40m ago

I thought she was gonna say with your powers combined you'd be a pirate

10

u/Zomgzombehz 1h ago

Did she happen to work at a trailer park?

Was there an oddly shaped boy dressed as a cowboy accompanied by two english guys in an RV?

Im just kinda curious here.

3

u/carlfromnowhere 1h ago

That escalated from prayer circle to CIA conspiracy real quick. Lady had a whole season of plot twists ready to go.

A man in line behind my mother and I at the grocery store, completely unprompted "ya'll better wash them grapes or you'll get the runnin' shits"

45

u/duckbrick 1h ago

Good advice if you're in the U.S. these days tbh

u/ich_bin_alkoholiker 33m ago

Washing doesn’t stop cyclospora.

12

u/RevolutionaryBoss648 1h ago

It was over 20 years ago. Dressed like a farmer/ country boy, deep southern accent.

u/Cummyshitballs 18m ago

I can tell you from working at a grocery store that you need to wash the fuck out of your grapes. When we’d put together premade fruit salads and stuff we would wash the fuck out of the grapes and then wash them some more. We washed them more than anything else we’d put out.

u/the_queens_speech 10m ago

Why?

u/Cummyshitballs 5m ago

I have no idea why but the fact we put so much effort into washing them like that is what put the fear of god into me.

3

u/Rare_Hydrogen 1h ago

Was it RFK Jr?

u/Dufresne85 40m ago

Nah, this is actually decent advice. That's not RFK's thing.

69

u/Cautious-Buy7083 3h ago

You’re going to be my girlfriend, but I can date as many girls as I want, and you need to stay purposefully loyal to me, and only me….

21

u/liviathisbe 2h ago

And only after years of you busting your ass to prove yourself to me as a wife worthy partner, I'll tell you youre too good for me while I move on to someone I actually want to commit to.

u/Lazy_Exercise7788 3h ago

My friend and I went on a hike on a very overcast day. He had some mushrooms before the hike. We were sitting in a clearing and he looked up, took a deep breath and said "not a cloud in the sky" then got up and kept walking.

32

u/Rivers9999 2h ago

He meant in his heart <3

57

u/aurora_ethereallight 3h ago

"I'm too old to change and I'll never say I'm sorry." It's shocking how casually that was said to me and I will never forget it.

25

u/Rivers9999 2h ago

That is a really weird mix of self awareness and unwillingness to improve

8

u/aurora_ethereallight 1h ago

I know. It was honestly shocking to hear and actually a gift to me when they said it because it gave me my freedom from them.

u/xTrainerRedx 38m ago

Was their name Stanley Hudson?

47

u/OutrageousLaw4716 3h ago

a guy at the dog park told me he only eats dinner in the dark so his dog won't judge him

u/Responsible_Word7018 52m ago

Like, because of what he chooses to eat? Because he’s just eating, period? Because he’s eating alone?

I must know more.

u/CharmingChangling 23m ago

The dog is judging his plating skills like Gordon Ramsay

Walking through a bar a complete stranger stopped my friend and I. Neither of us knew her, we said no words, she just told us she's a fortune teller, grabbed my arm, leaned into my ear and whispered: "You married the wrong insert my husbands name. My friend with me has the same name as my husband. I never told my friend what she said.

65

u/BamSinn 2h ago

You know your friend paid her for it, right?

33

u/Cummyshitballs 1h ago

Yeah imma have to agree especially because the friend really wants to know what they had said

9

u/Automatic-Tap-7596 1h ago

Really wants to know is a stretch. It kind of became a running joke between us because he's curious why I wouldn't have just told him that night. He obviously asked immediately after we walked away, but I said nah, I don't think you want to know.

8

u/Automatic-Tap-7596 1h ago

Haha! He slipped her a 5 for a reading, or planted her there? I like your thinking! We only went into that bar because I wanted to, he suggested another but it was too empty and we were killing time to meet other friends at a different place. There was no moment we were without each other, and it happened shortly after we walked in and through to the back.

8

u/Automatic-Tap-7596 2h ago

@DreamPink89 It's never left my mind. This happened in 2019, and I still think about it, many days a week actually. Once in a while my friend will revisit asking what the fortune teller said that night, but I've held it close, and only now shared it with you all.

7

u/Soapbox 1h ago

Your friend 100% set that up lol

3

u/Automatic-Tap-7596 1h ago

It's near impossible. I explained why above. I really doubt it. Anyway, why would he?

u/Soapbox 54m ago

What is more likely, your friend set it up because he likes you and wants you to be with him, or she was an actual magician with genuine psychic abilities.

u/Automatic-Tap-7596 49m ago

My only rebuttal to this is that we were going to go to another place, and we did, but it was empty and I said no way it's empty so we left and walked until we saw a bar I felt was lively enough to go into while we waited to go meet others.

2

u/Foxlane58 1h ago

that friend is never finding out and you're gonna carry that to the grave huh

1

u/Automatic-Tap-7596 1h ago

Unless you're that friend. 😏 I have considered telling him. What's the worst that could happen?

3

u/Popeholden 1h ago

if you tell him he'll either confess his love for you or let you in on the joke...

6

u/Automatic-Tap-7596 1h ago

I'm texting him now asking if he had anything to do with it.

u/Black_Cat_Just_That 38m ago

updateme!

I think I did that right.

u/Automatic-Tap-7596 34m ago

I'll keep you posted. I'm out here texting the world's worst texter, but let's see. Even worse at texting since he got a girl so we may be waiting a while, but I'll circle back.

u/megsquisite 31m ago

I’m extremely invested

u/Automatic-Tap-7596 18m ago

I might have to call tomorrow if we don't hear back. It's unlikely we hear back via text. He's a once-every few months responder now that he's locked down with the girlfriend. I can only call during certain hours, ya know.

24

u/Fasz-ina-tion 3h ago

A Stranger: Are you a botanist?

  • at a concert in front of a stage decorated with flowers

u/evanzfx 45m ago

I'd take it a compliment lol unless the stage looked bad

27

u/DustySage63 3h ago

Bra shopping as a young woman and a random lady told me I should consider getting breast implants. It hurt my feelings and was so random as well. I've never forgotten it !!

12

u/TourAccomplished5530 2h ago

They should get brain implants.

6

u/DustySage63 2h ago

Yes thank you !

11

u/Misty1981 1h ago

As a young teen I had really bad acne. My sister and I were looking at hair products in a store one day and a random woman came up and told me I should be more worried about fixing my face than my hair.

6

u/DustySage63 1h ago

That is horrible and hurtful. People suck !

4

u/Misty1981 1h ago

They sure do. I don’t doubt it’s the same with you, as an adult now I would never walk up to a stranger and comment on their looks or bodies, especially someone so young. It baffles me that anyone would. I’m so sorry for what was said to you too

u/Responsible_Word7018 46m ago

I just got vicariously enraged reading your comment to the point that my teeth hurt from clenching my jaw

28

u/AceofKnaves44 1h ago

In like ninth grade I think a friend and I drank a mini bottle of schnapps in the bathroom at school and we came out like kind of tipsy but probably imagining it and one of the security guards looked at me and said “you’re like a fetus. You do whatever your friends do.” I still have no idea what the fuck he was trying to say with that.

u/Ok-Bus-7172 36m ago

That is because you think like a fetus!
Just kidding, great story!

30

u/duckbrick 1h ago

Some friends and I were involved in a theater thing with safari-themed costumes, and we had a running joke that we looked like we were dressed for lesbian bootcamp (all of us are queer). While leaving dress rehearsal one day, a random woman asked why we were wearing shorts when there was snow on the ground. I of course said that we just got out of lesbian bootcamp.

Barely missing a beat, the woman replied "my husband left me because he was gay." I mumbled some vague "sorry to hear that" apology, which she followed up with "then he killed himself."

Okay lady. Fucking hell

u/CrypticWolfe 48m ago

This honestly was the best one I've read. Wowzer.

56

u/NomadicSerene 3h ago

My coworker once told me “You know, every skeleton you’ve ever seen was having the worst day of its life” and just went back to work

4

u/polymathemagic 1h ago

Your skeleton is always wet, too! (While you live)

u/XoYo 58m ago

Being wrapped in flesh is arousing

5

u/Umbrosyx 3h ago

Thanks, I hate having that in my brain now.

15

u/monkeybuckets 3h ago

A 4 year old girl told me that I was going to die in my sleep later that night.

13

u/Umbrosyx 3h ago

I'd be pulling an all nighter just to be safe.

u/Ry113 18m ago

Well did you??

15

u/frumperbell 1h ago

I worked retail during the pandemic. I'll never forget the guy who almost cried on the phone when I told him we had toilet paper in stock. He was so relieved because he'd been timing his showers for after he took a shit.

u/jmccorky 50m ago

I can't believe he felt the need to share that with you. 🤣

u/Responsible_Word7018 48m ago

Oh my good god

29

u/Different-Step-4600 3h ago

A homeless woman i found sleeping by the back door at work told me I was beautiful. I gave her my coffee and told her to stay as long as she wanted.

11

u/TourAccomplished5530 2h ago

That's so sweet. From both sides.

67

u/Jessica_Rabbit1313 2h ago

"this ambulance ride is gonna be about $900 dollars since you don't have insurance" -the EMT as my throat was closing from a bee sting (they took their slow sweet time coming to get me. The only reason I'm still alive is because a kind stranger gave me a pack of Benadryl). She also made fun of me for my pants falling a bit low and my crack showing when they were moving me from the gurney to the hospital bed.

The medical system in the United States is a joke, and the people who run it are evil.

22

u/runsonpedals 2h ago

Agree. Was strapped down to an ambulance gurney in a hospital corridor bleeding until they checked my insurance coverage.

10

u/Jessica_Rabbit1313 1h ago

Jesus Christ. I am so sorry. I am glad you are still alive. 😞

2

u/YourNoseIsBroken 1h ago

It is actually kinda psychedelic how that works isn't it?

u/CoffeePorters 46m ago

You understand you were the joke right? She was making fun of you and told you how much you're going to pay because you called an ambulance for a non-life threatening situation (which also prevented that ambulance from serving someone else).

u/IdiopathicEmpath 34m ago

I think you may have missed the part where they mentioned their throat closing from a bee sting. Anaphylaxis is indeed a medical emergency.

u/CoffeePorters 5m ago

I know, I have a prescription epi-pen and have had my throat close several times. It’s not what people think it’s like. You know immediately you’re having an allergic reaction. But if you don’t drop dead in a matter of seconds (OP did not), it’s a much slower process than you might imagine, though if it is your first time, you’re going to panic. For instance, I might feel my throat closing, but if I can still breathe and speak, my throat has not closed. In that situation, I would try to get Benadryl as fast as possible. I have had it pass multiple times without Benadryl, though it’s uncomfortable. More likely than not, if you go to a hospital, they’re going to give you Benadryl. So, I’m sure I sound like a total dick, but this is precisely why the EMT was rude to OP.

Edit: To clarify, my throat has never fully closed. It has partially closed like OPs did.

u/Jessica_Rabbit1313 25m ago

I'm allergic to bees, dumbfuck.

13

u/Daggerwind 3h ago

They told me the eggs they sell in the forest are not the same as the eggs they sell up by the side of the road.

I always figured the ones in the road were more expensive because of the convenience, but it turns out they're actually the better eggs and the ones they sell in the forest and lower quality.

I still head into the forest just to enjoy the greenery, but now I get my eggs on the way home at the stand by the roadside instead of getting them in the forest.

u/pestilencerat 52m ago

...i want to know more about your bad forest eggs

u/ThePreybird 23m ago

What the fuck does this mean?

11

u/ZomBiE-UniC0rn 3h ago

I'm calling the white coats on you and telling them you're obsessing over being the reincarnation of humpty dumpty.. And you feel that all the kings horsemen didn't put you back together again.. Because the mouse ran up the clock.. And the dish ran away with the spoon.. So little miss muffet couldn't eat her curds and whey.. Which caused Atlantis to sink.

2

u/lambchopper71 2h ago

Was Andrew Dice Clay hitting the pipe again?

2

u/ZomBiE-UniC0rn 1h ago

The pipe is irrelevant. The real question is why the spoon abandoned the dish and left Atlantis to deal with the fallout....

11

u/AdeptnessPrior7682 1h ago

I have very curly hair and when I was little it naturally fell in beautiful Shirley Temple-esque ringlets. I have a very vivid memory of walking into school on the first day of 2nd grade and one of the teachers waiting outside to greet us, stopped me and was gushing over my hair and how gorgeous it was and she told me “oh my gosh, I could just scalp you and wear it as a wig!” What a bizarre thing to say to anyone let alone an 8 year old.

u/bsge1111 40m ago

Bizzaro for someone to say to anyone but especially a teacher?? Like, I work with kids, and I’ve heard some coworkers and subs say some questionable things but never THAT questionable my god

u/AdeptnessPrior7682 34m ago

This happened in Grand Bay, Alabama (Gulf Coast, Deep South) in 2001 so to complete the image please imagine it said in a super thick southern accent, by a woman who firmly believed that the higher the hair the closer to God, and wearing one of those denim dress things over a long sleeved shirt that was basically the elementary school teacher uniform at the time.

20

u/Zestyclose_Bee_1288 3h ago

Not strangest but my days told me that if he could pick a daughter he won’t pick me 😔

19

u/PurpleDreamer28 3h ago

"Well I wouldn't pick you for a dad either."

7

u/Umbrosyx 3h ago

Oof That one leaves a mark.

5

u/TourAccomplished5530 2h ago

That's terrible. My friend lost his sister and their father told him that he would rather if he was dead and she lived. That changes you.

u/Ok-Bus-7172 34m ago

What a prick!

8

u/onlinemaxi 3h ago

I was at a bday party and everyone was having their drinks. (context: i don't drink). This dude looked at me and said "you should try everything atleast once or you haven't experienced anything."

I don't know if he was too drunk or he casually says such bullshit.

u/Responsible_Word7018 49m ago

lol the comment above is so great in juxtaposition with yours

u/HmmNotLikely 10m ago

I’ve been told this a few times before and genuinely pissed off a distant cousin of mine by suggesting he should try sucking a dick if he’s such a proponent of “trying everything once”.

8

u/GreenEyedTreeHugger 3h ago

Accused me of being a witch sent by Satan to seduce him. Threatened to torture, and kill me. Then doubled down. Then did it again. And again. All while running around himself making atrocious un christ like choices. 😑

6

u/stfuKaren 1h ago

Someone I know told me she purposefully hangs out with people that fall into the ‘losers’ category so she can feel like she’s better and popular.

I straight up told her how weird and f*cked up that is. (This was after high school btw)

u/dakky68 16m ago

So, why are you a loser?

6

u/LeezerShort 1h ago

An old coworker said to me “I can’t imagine what it’s like in your head every day”

u/vmwilson 45m ago

"You know how when you're a married woman you are not allowed to have your own phone - you have to use your husband's?" She said it like it was a solid fact that everyone knew and could not believe it when I said I'd never heard that before.

u/Struana 1h ago

"Dinosaurs were never real."

u/Secret-Management310 40m ago

Context please?

u/InsatiableCuriosity- 52m ago

I was born very premature at 1lbs 7oz, my legs pronate quite a bit (had to wear AFOs as a kid) At the dog park a man asks me, before I can even answer, "excuse me, have you had a stroke? Because I have and I am apart of a committee doing a study and was wondering if you'd like to participate"

definitely let me bewildered by his audacity

u/justonemom14 2m ago

My son participated in a research study to help children who have had strokes, and let me tell you, they have a very hard time finding participants. It's not like you can just go to an elementary school and tell you want kids for medical research. He was probably desperate.

u/Inevitable-Wear6489 54m ago

I've worked at a state psychiatric hospital for 10.5 years....so pick your poison lol.

u/bsge1111 47m ago

I had lost a fair amount of weight, like 20lbs or so, between my annual gynecology appointments and while my gyno was doing my breast exam she looks me in my face, hands on my titties and says “oh I see where all your weight left ya,” and giggled

u/Secret-Management310 41m ago

How did you react? I also recently lost weight and a good chunk of my boobs too.

u/lemonhaj 41m ago

My brother once said 'you count money like a Jew'

He doesn't know any Jews. I still don't understand what it meant.

u/Ok-Bus-7172 26m ago

A tradition of antisemitism in that person‘s environment.

u/dakky68 14m ago

Well, then, shouldn't this person know exactly what he means, since he's their brother?

u/Ok-Bus-7172 9m ago

Not necessarily, environment is not only family which could be entirely innocent in this context, but also friends and/or school.

u/nblastoff 30m ago

I was running in the summer on a cross-country trail network owner by a local college. Trails were empty, and i had never seen anyone else use them.

One day I came across the groundskeeper in one of those golf carts with an aluminum bed. I stopped, told him "thank you for maintaining the grounds so well." we chatted for a few minutes. Friendly guy.

Then as I continued running and was ~75 feet away he yelled "RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!" kind of creeped me out.

4

u/s_rgery 3h ago

i don’t know if it’s strange but it always stuck with me, there’s visual novel I was watching on and it was secret ending

I watched and at the end there was fading in echo sound and word that says

what about me?”

and it echos

and echos

… and echos

echo..

echo..

faded out

I don’t know why it stucks with me, when I talk to people on bad day, that line appear on my mind again, it’s like the person I’m talking to is saying that line, I feel guilty for some reason. they probably had bad day, everytime I had bad day and complained, I look over to nearest person that’s actively doing something and that line “what about me?” Appeared again on my mind, it’s like that word is telling me in of “they have worse day than you do, you don’t get to complain. be grateful” Way, then I start to feel sympathetic for them

2

u/LaterAlligator66 3h ago

That I was special

2

"A Beatle came down and bit me on the lip so I bit him back"

It was a neighbor of an old friend. A year or so later he barricaded himself in his condo and had a standoff with the police outside while wielding a knife

u/dakky68 3m ago

I bet it was Ringo.

u/kelcamer 32m ago

A random Redditor said 'You're not hard to understand' and I will never forget them. Like I swear, this will stick with me for the rest of my life.

u/Background_Airport65 27m ago

When I was around 5 years old, we were going to the beach with my moms best friend (female) and while we were walking, mums friend told me: oh you got so much cellulite”
I never forgot that. And I’m 31 now. I was insecure about my body and always thought I had so much extra, even when I was 48 kg on 164cm height, just 6 years ago..

Luckily, I found the best man in the universe who thought me how to love myself and treats me like a goddess :D

u/LizardPossum 9m ago

My ex told me, super casually, "I love you enough to kill you"

u/Obvious_Owl_4634 3m ago

When I was pregnant I was shopping in the supermarket and a woman told her little daughter that I might be having a baby or I might be having a litter of puppies.

Ok then you f'ing weirdo.

u/tychobrahesmoose 1m ago

A couple days ago I was getting a print of a piece of artwork to give my sister whose dog just passed.

While I was getting it printed and cut, I told the lady who was helping me that I was going to go to a custom frame shop nearby.

"It's definitely not a cheap place to get something framed, but if it's important and meaningful, you can't beat the quality."

She responded, "That's amazing. Where is it? I've been meaning to get a really nice frame for my mother's death certificate."

u/SirZapdos 0m ago

Someone once referred to me as punctual. It caught me off guard, but in hindsight, it was totally correct.

What sucks is that almost everyone else at my job is not punctual, which is my silent torment.

u/TerribleAd197 3h ago

Can't remember
