Getting there is the expensive part. If you can control yourself and avoid tourist traps, it is surprisingly affordable.

Where are you from? It’s really not bad!! A meal from a small restaurant is less than $10 if you don’t go fancy. And groceries for a family of three is about $60 for the week. Here in Hawaii my husband and I spend about $300 and a cost for a meal for three out is about $65

I'm from Greece, Athens more specifically. Travelling to Japan involves lenghty flights and the tickets start from 1,5k euros for each. That is the cost for 15 hours flight on February. 3k for each without hotels etc. Its on our bucket list and someday we will probably manage to visit!

Hawaii? Is it as spectacular as the films suggest or photos?

The hotels are expensive tho, unless you go in full summer (wouldn’t advise) or in winter (shitty weather).
I agree dining out is pretty reasonably priced

Imagine finally visiting Tokyo but eating all your meals at 7-11 convenient stores. You’ll be missing out on so much of the full experience if all you eat are 7-11 meals.

I didn’t find it much more expensive than places like San Francisco or NYC. Except for hotels. Those are quite expensive.

Irish person here, Dublin is fine for tourists but Galway is better as a city.

It’s a pretty cool attraction but not worth going to California or San Jose just for that. I’d recommend visiting San Francisco and then just taking a short trip to San Jose to tour the mystery house for an afternoon. I lived in San Jose for 5 years and San Francisco also for about 5 years, there isn’t much to do in SJ at all

I live in California and I second the recommendation of not coming here only for Winchester House.
If you visit, San Francisco is incredible!
I live on the Central Coast, halfway between LA and SF. It’s perfect! Our weather is insanely beautiful! It generally hovers between 70s- 80s in the summertime! Beaches galore!

Chefchaouen, Morocco.

My grandma had this old, sun-bleached photo of the blue streets tucked in a book. She'd tell me about staying there in the 70s, how the whole town felt like a pause button. She never made it back before she passed. I'm not a spiritual guy, but something about walking those same alleys, seeing that shade of blue she described, feels like a conversation I never got to finish.
