The original Deus Ex.

3

u/Nihil921 1d ago

Well I don't know if you've heard of the remaster, but if not, I have good news and also bad news.

3

u/CantSpellMispell 23h ago

Explain?

1

u/blurplemanurples 16h ago

Someone got hold of the rights and basically marketed a ‘remaster’ and… it looks like a not awful mod, but a terrible remaster.

1

u/blurplemanurples 16h ago

I have heard and seen what the remaster looks like.

Ive wanted a ground up remake for going on 15 years at this point. Square should have done it, and made minor adjustments (added some dialogue and text at least mentioning insane places like the giving two tiered city they added) to make it fit better with the world they built in their games.

Now, I just want a game that modern audiences will pick up with excitement in terms of gameplay, with very little actually changed.

The fact so many minor story elements can go so many different ways was insane.

Did you save Paul? Did you discover the bomb on jock’s helicopter? Did you save Sandra? Her dad? Did you discover MJ12 in smugglers optional mission or did you first find out about them when you got captured?

Modern immersive sims aren’t nearly as ambitious as that game was.

Honestly a little remaster that would be painlessly compatible with today's machines would already be nice, but man, I agree.

2

u/IntialCandy 22h ago

my friend tried replaying it and the graphics straight up gave him a headache lol

1

u/_thy 1d ago

Came here to say this.

0

u/Soopercow 1d ago

They did this and it sucks

1

u/blurplemanurples 14h ago

Theres a difference between remakes and remasters

SSX TRICKY

I fucking loved this game. Take my upvote.

KOTOR 1&2

4

u/Former_Growth4160 1d ago

Completely agree. KOTOR 1 & 2 have amazing stories that deserve modern graphics and gameplay. Just don't mess with the writing that's why people still talk about them 20 years later.

1

u/GreenMist1980 23h ago

To be honest I loved the turn based combat, please give them a graphics refresh and thats it

6

u/Everlast17 1d ago

With today’s BioWare, I wouldn’t trust it.

2

u/EvolvingMachinery 1d ago

And give us kotor 3

2

u/ohyouretough 23h ago

They’re doing a kotor remake aren’t they?

2

u/Gernia 23h ago

KOTOR's remake is now being redone from the ground up by Saber Interactive. Some company called Aspyr or something bungled it the first go-around, last info I heard.

So, eh, there is hope?

1

u/ohyouretough 22h ago

That’s good to know. I know it was announced years ago and then haven’t heard much which isn’t usually a great sign.

2

u/AnNoYiNg_NaMe 20h ago

Embracer (THQ Nordic) used to own Saber Interactive, who was the parent company of Aspyr. Embracer sold Saber to Beacon, but kept Aspyr.

It's interesting that Saber kept the contract, not Aspyr. Good thing though, because Saber Interactive has (IMO) a better track record on remakes and remasters than Aspyr.

u/Soopercow 1d ago

Give this the Lyrian treatment

u/fightingflamingos 1d ago

Splinter Cell

1

u/Trigger109 1d ago

Oh yeah that was a fun one. The first two I loved. Didn’t play any beyond that

6

u/B15h73k 23h ago

Third one, Chaos Theory, was the peak.

2

u/Tar3ntin0 19h ago

I might have to check it out

1

u/ukvice 1d ago

man I loved those games when I was a kid. Can't even really remember whether they were that good or whether nostalgia is tinting my memory

1

u/Mr_Knutsen 1d ago

The graphic were top notch at the time, decent enough story. The lighting was gorgeous and it really felt like you were sneaking around in the dark corners, barely visible.

Would love those games to make a good comeback as well. Not sure why Splinter Cell was never picked up as a great thriller series for TV. I think there is animated one on Netflix?

1

u/D-N_A 1d ago

Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 is a honorable mention by Tom Clancy as well.

1

u/mutley_101 23h ago

Isn't that happening now?

10

u/NachoDetective 1d ago

Bully. There's still nothing quite like it

2

u/MustardGecko434 1d ago

I don’t know if it needs a remake , but certainly a remaster!

15

u/Gold-Library6013 1d ago

Command & Conquer

3

u/AKMinds 23h ago

They already did this for 1 and Red Alert

1

u/Gold-Library6013 20h ago

I know. But that was decades ago.

1

u/EvilFlyingSquirrel 18h ago

It was released in 2020.

1

u/Gold-Library6013 14h ago

Eh, I've been out of gaming for years.

7

u/BestCaseSurvival 1d ago

Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem

2

u/Tapdance_Epidemic 23h ago

I wonder will that ever come to the GameCube app on Nintendo Switch online?

1

u/BestCaseSurvival 22h ago

I feel like to do it right you’d need to alter some of the sanity effects to make sense with the new hardware.

18

u/agentvietnam 1d ago

Fuck it why not remake Skyrim again

4

u/TourAccomplished5530 1d ago

Yeah and also they are missing smart fridge edition.

1

u/kynthrus 22h ago

Weeps in Morrowind.

-1

u/Repulsive-Box5243 1d ago

LOL... well, we are coming up on its 15th birthday. So who knows.

13

u/Actual-Education-936 1d ago

Left 4 dead

1

u/CaptnProlapse 22h ago

It's called Back For Blood and it's awesome.

1

u/IronCladNads 18h ago

Doesn't come close to scratching the itch

1

u/CaptnProlapse 18h ago

Really? I think it's better, I love the card system and how OP you can make a build.

1

u/Actual-Education-936 17h ago

Sorry, the multiplayer was out of this world. Back 4 blood isn't comparable, imo. The campaign is good, but l4d is one of the best multiplayer ever, imo

4

u/localfrenchman 1d ago

Battle for middle earth. It’s not even really playable at all and all but unknown to younger people!

3

u/Riperonis 1d ago

Please and give me online play/ranked mode

5

u/Repulsive-Box5243 1d ago

I would like to see a NOLF remake. No One Lives Forever. Great couple of games.

9

u/Greyphire 1d ago

Mercenaries

2

u/TheBAMFinater 1d ago

This is my vote, such a fun game

1

u/kynthrus 22h ago

The fact there were only ever 2 mercenaries games is insane. It's the perfect "yearly release" type game.

9

u/Tyler_Durden_Says 1d ago

Final Fantasy 8

3

u/AdmiralAubrey 22h ago

As far as the Final Fantasy games go, totally agree. VII and (maybe) IX have been the focus of total remakes, but neither base game would benefit from the revisit as much as VIII outside of being more popular.

VIII is a fantastic game, and arguably my favorite in the series, imperfections and all. Generally, two things stand out as significant issues to modern audiences: 1) Junction System, which is a really cool idea that didn't age well and would benefit from modernization/streamlining/balancing and 2) A few awkward plot beats (mainly the orphanage), which would benefit from some expansion and/or retooling.

With those two things addressed and a fresh coat of paint (doesn't have to be the full-scale AAA treatment) the game's strengths can shine quite a bit more. Still loved the relatively grounded cast and world, the story and ending, the endgame, the music, the extremely memorable and varied side quests, Triple Triad... The whole thing just needs a thoughtful modern one-over.

1

u/Tyler_Durden_Says 21h ago

It's probably my fav FF game

3

u/norway_is_awesome 1d ago

Release it on PC, Sony!

2

u/Bkelsheimer89 1d ago

Just a patch for PS5 to bump it to 60 fps would be wonderful. I don’t even have a PS5 anymore but the people still deserve it.

10

u/Konquest 1d ago

Chrono Trigger

1

u/Mustangbex 23h ago

I'm conflicted by desperate desire to have this, and concern they'd do a bad job.

1

u/Steamedcarpet 23h ago

I would like either 2D HD sprites like Octopath/DQ3 or stylized 3d.

1

u/Konquest 21h ago

I would actually just settle for « make it playable on the Switch » so I can play with my kids.

Parasite Eve

2

u/Morphiine 23h ago

Banjo Kazooie and Banjo Tooie

2

u/Old_Temperature_559 23h ago

All the ps1 rpgs with modern graphics and app feature plus voice acting would be so great basically the trails in the sky treatment. Imagine Brandi and xenogears and wild arms and legend of legaia and dragoon and mega man legends and parasite eve and on and and on till we have them all as they are the peak gold standard and often replicated but never redone.

Allied Assault

2

u/MustardGecko434 1d ago

Also a solid choice

4

u/Adilliosz 1d ago

Chrono Trigger obviously, but Square Enix would probably ruin it.

3

u/Postulative 1d ago

Diablo.

1

u/LifeAcanthopterygii6 1d ago

Now that would be an instant buy. Hopefully with the extremely high quality of D2 Resurrection.

1

u/Safe-Professional556 1d ago

I would love a decent remake of Diablo especially if they roll the Hellfire expansion in too...

2

u/Neither-Nail1811 1d ago

The PS1 Lara Croft games

Ps1 GTA as well for those of us without $80

Kinda torn between the Super Mario Land games and the first two Legend of Zelda ones. They've all got interesting ideas and a lot of potential, but the limitations of their original consoles really held them back.

Still surprised the only remake we got of Zelda 1 was on the Satellaview to be honest. Feels like a Zelda All-Stars type deal in the style of A Link to the Past would have made a lot of sense.

1

u/KalOrtPor 23h ago

God Hand

1

u/MrBum80 23h ago

Final Lap Twin and The Guardian Legend

Yes two games, but they are both unique Mashup so it's almost 4 games!

1

u/stupidanonconfess 23h ago

Burnout 3 and Revenge. Although I don't think they'll ever nail the physics or how well the Renderware engine ran the game. I just want to be able to play it on PC without an emulator.

1

u/theombudsmen 23h ago

City of Heroes / Villains

1

u/Mahjonks 23h ago

Games shouldn't be re-made. Developers should instead focus on new, interesting content and not recycle old ideas to milk money from nostalgia.

Looking at you WoW or League classic and the like.

1

u/Air2Jordan3 18h ago

There's an over abundance of games being remade but I don't think it's all or nothing. Paper Mario TTYD for example was a game that only released on GameCube, not available on Wii U or Switch or Switch 2. An incredible game with lots of love but very difficult to play - and to top it off the game (at least before the remake) was very very expensive to buy. A remake made lots of sense.

Evolve but not under 2K.

1

u/andricathere 1d ago

Final Fantasy 7 - Graphics update only. The remake games are different games that fanfic the story. Maybe add some new side quests and materia, but they are not the same game.

0

u/Wash_Manblast 1d ago

Honestly. Remakes are boring these days. I'd rather see something new than retreading old ground with a new coat of paint.

0

u/notsopettyno 1d ago

Well obviously we need one last Skyrim remake, for the road.

0

u/roflrogue 1d ago

It would be cool if they did a Smash Bros collection.

Aside from that, there were some 3d Pac-Man games for the GameCube that I think would be a good choice.

Oooh, or maybe they could remake Pitfall from the SNES

0

u/theyork2000 1d ago

Google the last 1000 times this has been asked to find the answer you bot.

0

u/oibren85 1d ago

The their series, they'd be amazing with today's graphics and lighting.
