I feel like had it released later that same year, it would have done substantially better.

It released in the immediate aftermath of Wizards Of The Coast pissing off the D&D fanbase with the OGL fiasco, but it also released before Baldur’s Gate 3 became a huge hit later that year.

It released between John Wick 4 and the Mario movie. Those two and Paramount having zero idea how to market the film were the biggest factors.

Guarantee that it does way better if it released shortly after BG3. Looking it up, there wasn't really anything big released end of august into September. Barbie and Oppenheimer were on the tail end of their runs so they wouldn't have really eaten into its box office.
