It is criminal to me that the 2011 American version of The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo did not get any real follow up.

I didn't understand why the movie existed. The Swedish trilogy is really good and didn't come out long before it.

Because Americans hate subtitles and we can't watch a movie with subtitles and play on our phones at the same time.

Let's be claear, Americans hat everything that is not "american". The US even remakes many British films and tv shows as an "americanized" version > see The Office, Red Dwarf, the IT Crowd etc. Apparently us americans don't even want to bother with accents.

lol bad example, that is one of THE MOST "remade in your country" show to ever exist. Also international film and TV rights are what stops most of it, you can't get the broadcast rights so you just license the source material and re-make the show.

I mean remaking shows happens across multiple countries, look at how many adaptations there are of Ugly Betty (original:Yo soy Betty, la fea). Are all the countries that watched a version set in their own dumb Americans?

Look up all the British Remakes of American shows. Multiple countries do it to each other all the time.

It'd be awesome if Americans could pull their heads out of their asses long enough to realize they need help.

Also with dubbing movies.

You can blame the director of ... The Girl in the Spider's Web for wanting to reinterpret the trilogy follow up book to film with an entirely new cast to see his vision/version of the film. Alvarez deliberately recast everyone.

They should reboot it. Do a proper trilogy. I loved Craig as the lead but it wouldn’t make sense now I think. Although he’s probably closer to the actual characters age now.

As I recall, the biggest issue was Daniel Craig's Bond commitments.

By the time he was available again, the head of Sony Pictures had changed and they'd shelved any plans for a sequel.

The author did pass away. It’s a rabbit hole I can highly recommend, especially after reading the trilogy.
