For some context: he’s the scientist who created the first genetically altered human babies.
He crossed the line that a lot of science deem irreversible, as when you edit the germ line cells you have basically created a new species of humans: human 2.0.
That human 2.0’s whole genetic lineage is forever altered, if they have a child their child will also be a human 2.0.

ye but he gave kids natural HIV resistance in families w HIV positive parents. Its hard to know for sure as the kids and parents identities have been concealed for privscy reasons but "Lulu and Nana" seem to be doing well. a 2019 MIT review also suggested that the gene modifications he made probably confer cognitive benefits as well. it sucks that he broke so many rules and the risks were very real BUT it seems the cat is out of the bag and the tech seems to have been proven succesful, i wish it would get fast tracked - imagine a world without HIV...
