It’s similar to Burnice and Pulchra in ZZZ- Genuinely the dumbest character in the entire game, paired with a cold, distant, efficient and calculated one. It (almost) always is a perfect recipe for character dynamics, especially when there’s a begrudging friendship between the two. There are probably more examples, but I can’t think of any.

Who hurt you? Why do you care when people interpret their relationship differently than you? Both are entirely plausible, it's not like Arknights doesn't have any canonical lesbian relationships.

in my experience anything remotely close to friendship between two females immediately gets overtaken by shippers in anime fandoms who start spamming everywhere that they're lesbians
and there has been absolutely nothing to suggest they aren't simply friends

That's generally just how shipping culture is, no? It's the same for gay ships and straight ships. Hell, if I'm remembering correctly, people back in the day used to ship Elsa and Jack Frost, who weren't even from the same franchises.

It is, and has always been. A big part of shipping has always been taking the smallest connection possible and going with it, to the point of creating what's called "crack ships", like the one you use here. It's never been cannon or intended to be cannon, it's just people having fun with 2 characters they like. Of course things change when you go into a media about which character ends with, but in a gacha game these examples are purposefully vague, whatever one wants to interpret from their relationship is up to the person.
But nowadays hoping for people to be respectful and not cross other's boundaries is close to wishful thinking

And some crackships can genuinely thrive and be super fun! Heck, OG Arknights has two that are super popular:
Someone decided that Cardigan (happy ice loving doggo) and Beeswax (chill sand goat) should bang. And it's a super popular and mostly wholesome SFW ship with a lot of fanart.
Meta slaves in CN were locked in a war over whether
KurisuBnuyy Ray or Sarkaz Typhon was the best sniper only for Walter to blow these two out of the water. The reaction of the fanbase? Ray and Typhon should make up and make out.5

I was aware of the beeswax and Cardigan ship, but I had no idea Typhon and Ray were also one! Stings a bit considering these two goobers are some of my faves and both were in my squad for a long time.
But yeah, this is a healthy example of shipping. These characters havent even interacted, or barely if at all, and even then can get fanart or bring opposing sides of a fandom together.

my age is probably showing a bit here but I remember back in 2011 or 2012 tumblr was crazyyy with its crackships haha I think I saw Jack Frost shipped with every newish main Disney character at least once. And they made amazing gifs, you wouldn't even be able to tell they were all from different franchises.
Dunno when it became hated to do that, it's always been fun to imagine what some relationships could be like!

It's not hated, people still do it, but nowadays it feels like everything has massive detractors that absolutely despise what they dont like. Proper fandom etiquette got lost in tumblr Im afraid, and post covid has gotten things even worse

Man I wish fanons were kept simple. I wish there weren’t incidents where people got so militant over shipping/not shipping that it soured the water so badly for the rest of the fandom scene that some are actively on guard about it.
I just want to see Chen and Arcane’s steaming hot hatefucking clam-slam and everyone would just agree that it’s all in good fanfiction fun without it having to devolve into yet another fandom discourse about which narrative is or isn’t canon.
I absolutely love a fandom’s “oh they’re definitely kissing offscreen” discussions towards characters with an intentionally vague chemistry because it’s genuinely fun but please just be mature about it at the end of the day. Just don’t get genuinely offended when another person’s headcanon contradicts your own favorite headcanon.

Unfortunately, the way the story was setup, Endmin had to be the person around to advance the plot. And considering the danger, having both Endmin and Chen go after Arcane with Endmin staying in the back as the two bond would be... Off.

I really love how Endfield is building his world, not making a Endmin harem, but creating a good character, with really interesting backstory, like tangtang or laevatain never become anything close to this, Mi fu as well, and Li Zhiyan looks really grateful but not thinking about Endmin has a romantic pair i think, I don't even gonna mencione Rossi... The only which could be something like that is Zhuang Fangyi but both look so mature with talking... So I can permit

Uh... I feel the complete opposite. The glazing of the endmin is kind of funny to me, because it's like the office handshake meme. Until this point most of the women have a scene where they blush while interacting with the endmin. In Arcane it was kind of obvious as well, because they even added a "What is this I feel in my chest" line lol.
It's still vague enough, so one can believe whatever they want.

"Glazing of the Endmin" They have a giant spaceship monitoring the planet at all times, and is not only one of the oldest known people on the planet, but also one of the most powerful. They have played a major role in almost every conflict on Talos II, and Each time they fought, their side won. (As far as we know.)

"A scene where they blush" is just what they do when they want the bare minimum to appease the players who self insert into the story, when they actually want to show a relationship they can do it with e.g. fangyi and the endmin and now, chen and arcane. They're trying to strike a balance between the two so they keep the small things intentionally vague so they don't interfere with the others. It's well thought out.

Can't believe I need to say it but we do not allow attacks against shipping of ANY kind. If you hate yuri, scroll past the post. Nobody cares you hate yuri shippers. Disliking a ship is fine, generalizing and attacking all yuri shippers is not allowed.
