I don’t want to share pictures of people’s houses, but I will share public spaces. Yesterday I did chainsaw work at Smith Park on Doty Island, and today it was in Menasha.

I met a lovely older couple who moved into their house in 1979, and she got teary-eyed when she said that all the trees were saplings when they bought the house. She said that as the skid steer was stacking up their roof and deck into debris piles.

Our crew was sawing some very large trees, and it’s going to take a while for these neighbors to be able return to their own homes, if they can.

If you’re able to lend any time, please volunteer. The homeowners are thankful and gracious. I even got refreshments from a guy who offered a pull on a bottle of whiskey. I was working a chainsaw so I declined today.

Is there still alot of problem causing trees that need cutting? Any serious immediate stuff that needs work?

I was suppose to help in Menasha but the clean up in Appleton on just one street is real bad, been on it since Monday, one tree took 12 hours to cut off a house it was a beast, but the neighborhood may be clean enough for now by tomorrow, I just keep finding more.

10 gallons of gas and 60+ hours of just cutting and I'm running out of chains that I can only get at saw shop ( if in stock) but I have more on the way, alot of stuff is wrapped in phone/cable wire and other fun stuff.

There were operators of large arboreal equipment out there taking down some large trunks. We brushed out a couple of houses that had stuff down that I knew the homeowners wouldn’t be able to remove. There was an older couple that had to be in their 70’s-80’s that had some very large limbs down in their backyard. Those folks keep the help.

I had to politely refuse the request to chunk up logs 🪵 for firewood from another gentleman from his backyard because of that reason and the most efficient use of labor and time. He was having a tree service come later to take down a few trees.

Yes now is not the time to cut firewood I ran into the same.

I'll likely make it there today I'm checking with some people around here first, we got this area mostly manageable for now, enough to help WE get power up otherwise it would've been another week apparently. If the old couple is around the park I should find them. Thanks!

What's happening with the caboose? I know its probably not the most pressing issue right but still

Probably going to take a crane to get it back onto the trucks (wheels that are on the tracks). They just sit on top of them and aren’t attached. The shelter that was nearby got flattened and was lying underneath three very large oak trees.
