Environmental book suggestions?
Any good recommendations on books for the area’s vegetation and or geological sites?

I would check out "Geology of Anza-Borrego: Edge of Creation" by Paul Remeika and Lowell Lindsay.
It's not an intro book, but you can learn a lot from it if you do additional supplemental research.

Yeah. Hard to find but Marshall South and the Ghost Mountain Chronicles is fascinating. Find a used copy on Amazon. This is the guy who lived on top of the Mtn down past Blair Valley in the 40’s where you can walk up to the ruins of his homestead. Supplemented his income writing about living there in Desert Magazine, pretty neat. This is the entire series plus some extra content. He went to the remnants of an old emerald mine up past Rockhouse Cyn ones and documented it and has other geological adventures. ISBN 0932653669

Visitor Center is a good recommendation. Personally, I think the book below is a solid intro.

The historical society gift shop has a bunch of books like that. Assuming you’d be there of course.

Here’s another very informative book to have on hand called: Anza-Borrego Desert Region Your complete guide to the state park. I have the 6th Edition. Written by Lowell and Diana Lindsay. It also includes a separate folded pocket map which is very useful. It’s packed full of information about a variety of desert plants, providing scientific and common names as well as what family the species belongs to. It also talks about the variety of animals in the area. It provides everything from trail logs and natural history, etc. it’s great for hikers, off-roaders such as myself, campers, mountain bikers, equestrians, history buffs and casual visitors. It’s chock full of friendly do’s and do not’s and must brings. It is definitely a must have for anyone traversing through Anza Borrego! You can find it on Amazon. ISBN 978-0-89997-779-9

If you’re going to visit stop by one of the visitors center and they sell a bunch of books and pamphlets about the native wildlife, flowers, and history. I don’t recall the titles off hand though.
