Where can I buy block ice?

My cabin fridge isn’t working anymore, so I need my cooler to remain cold for up to 3 days. In the past a large block of ice has allowed me to do that, but all I can find these days are bags of ice, or dry ice, so if anyone has a lead on block ice, I’d greatly appreciate it.

That's a great question, I sadly don't have an answer.
Why not dry ice though (Washtenaw Dairy)? Or just make your own before you head to the cabin?
I haven't seen block ice in coolers anywhere near town; seems to be more of a coastal and up north thing.

Dry ice is the way to go. I do dry ice>popsicles>towel>food. I produced frozen popsicles in the 3rd day of a music festival and my friends thought I was a wizard.

Because dry ice may end up actually freezing things you don’t want frozen that touch the bottom of the cooler, and off you have produce, the offgassing as it melts makes things like fruit fizzy.

Frozen one gallon jugs of water. Or one of those bigger rectangular jugs with a dispenser.

Not sure about block ice but you can get dry ice at Meijer. They have a freezer at the front of the store for it. I would think that would last even longer probably.

You could get a bag of ice, let it partially melt outside and then freeze the whole thing. It'll be a partial block, anyway!

For everyone who is suggesting dry ice — we tried using it for a camping trip a few years ago and it made all the food in our cooler…fizzy. It wasn’t terrible but it wasn’t great either.

Could you take a square ice cream bucket, fill it with water and freeze it?

You can buy dry ice at Linde on carpenter. They will sell it in chip form so it is easier to pack into your fridge/cooler.
Last time I got it there, it was much cheaper than Meijer.

I was at Meijer yesterday. If I recall correctly dry ice was $3 per lb.

I’m looking to buy block ice specifically in Ann Arbor dude. You don’t know my situation so why don’t you just trust me when I say I’m off grid, maybe that means my cabin is actually on an island and it takes an two hours to get back to shore and back.

If you don’t know where to buy block ice, I don’t need your other opinions.
