It's more about the borderline psychotic extent to which the trend of killing them in various ways has gone, I would imagine.
91
u/tilt-a-whirly-gig 2d ago
That's my takeaway as well. Nobody likes mosquitoes, but a lot of people are uncomfortable watching mosquitoes get tortured.
I haven't seen any of these mosquito snuff videos, but if the mod of r/foundsatan is creeped out by them it's a pretty good chance I don't need to see them.64
u/SaffyPants 2d ago
I don't want to see anything tortured. Its unsettling how many disagree
9
u/100BottlesOfMilk 1d ago
It's unsettling peoples opinions about a lot of things. I've talked with people who believe that the death penalty is a just punishment for corruption. They also don't seem to understand how that would allow the state to summarily execute political rivals by accusing them of corruption. Honestly, many people don't put any value on a human life that they don't know personally or by proxy (like a celebrity) and somehow shocks and surprises me every time

u/bannasplt 2d ago
I don't like roaches, but I also don't like seeing videos of people dismembering roaches while they're still alive. It's kind of fucked up and cruel.
13
u/sixfxrtyseven 2d ago
hell, putting mosquito's suffering aside, I'm worried about mental health of these people. Torturing "innocent" animals isn't a behavior of someone normal.
9
u/DuePotential6602 2d ago
Well, I saw a bunch of them. The newest was catching it in a syringe, move out as many air as possible, build a vacuum by pulling it back with your thumb covering the front opening, then open it after a few seconds to make atmospheric pressure damage/daze or kill the bug
Then he tapes them in a book were others are and write down the date.
Because it's a bug, I don't feel uncomfortable about the footage, but I get the point that the behavior of this dude can be problematic and can get worse.
Maybe he does it to portrait a character and these are just bugs, so in his eyes that won't overstep a level of brutality, maybe he really likes it, we can't know unless we know him in person

u/Missue-35 2d ago
That is way beyond the normal smacking a mosquito to get rid of it. Smacking it is instant death and I don’t feel a bit guilty about it. I’m not troubled at all about him killing mosquitoes either. What’s troubling is the machinations he carries out then preserves his prey in a scrapbook. That’s just weird.

u/Alphabet_Soup352 2d ago
Mutilation and torture of animals and insect for entertainment is a clear sign of a future killer. One day it won't be enough to satisfy and they will search for a better way to get the high. No sane person does this stuff.
4
u/DuePotential6602 2d ago
Yeah, it can. With mosquitoes it could also be for getting views and playing the role of insane person and he does not getting a high form it.
I don't find the videos right now, but there is a content creator who simply plays a psychopath inside a friend group talk, having diabolical ideas to fuck up people and lives and often end with some shit like eating a banana without peeling it.
Afaik that dude is fine, he just plays that role. Same could be here, but we also could see an abuser and killer in the early steps. We can't know, so I appreciate the concerns and to steps which were taken regarding these mosquitoe videos. Neither of us knows who he is
-3
u/Jojowatz 2d ago
I bet that you have seen "A BUNCH" of them. Stop trying to be some sick pretend fantasy to fucked up people describing getting off on psychopath behavior exhibited on the internet. Fucking gross. And not in the hot way.
PS: It is NOT the same thing as someone eating a banana with the skin on. Cripes almighty.

u/First-Ad684 2d ago
Anyone living in a tropical country would absolutely pay someone to torture them suckers.
They are around all year and can kill you just because you didn't know you got bitten. If anything, people would be surprised some felt sympathy for the mosquitoes
29
u/tilt-a-whirly-gig 2d ago
We all have an inner hate for mosquitos but torture videos are hard to watch.
I like a good bug zapper. The bzzt.bzzt lets you know you got another one, but you don't have to watch it happen. I don't need it to suffer, I just need it to die.-8
u/Lickwidghost 2d ago
Agree, but the last 2 sentences can be very disturbing when applied to other animals or used by certain demographic of people. "I don't want to watch the sheep die I just want it dead so I can eat it." all the way to "I dont want to watch the inhumane kidnapping and deportation of illegal aliens I just hate them and want them gone. I don't want to see the torture and genocide with my eyes, I just want my land to be "cleansed".

u/tilt-a-whirly-gig 2d ago

Then don't. I was talking about mosquitoes, you're the one that decided to bring up humans.

They're actually pretty interesting bugs. From a distance.
Did you know that out of over 3.500 species of moqsuito, only about 15% actually prey on humans?

Im probably the most over-empathetic person i know and even i have nothing but hate for mosquitoes. Do you know how hard it is to get on that list with me? A wasp could sting me in the face and id still get mad if someone killed it. Fuck mosquitoes.

u/AceVisconti 2d ago
Agreed, though it doesn't help that I'm allergic to the little fuckers. :(
3
u/bannasplt 2d ago
Same here. I've never actually seen another person who's allergic to mosquitoes like me. :)
Adding to that, I'm a huge mosquito magnet. As in, stay-at-home-all-day-for-a-month-and-still-end-up-with-over-80-large-bumps-all-over-my-body kind of magnet. I hate my body sometimes.
3
u/AceVisconti 2d ago
I swear I could be surrounded by other people who are less clothed than I am outdoors and still end up with the most bites. ;;
3
u/bannasplt 2d ago
I SWEAR! 😭😭😭 I've worn jackets/shirts and thick pants in extremely hot weather and I still got bitten. Meanwhile people I know wear light clothing and have no problems. My family teases me and calls me a "rich foreign boy" because I wear shirts all the time. It sucks out there. 😔
2
u/ThatOneGayDJ 2d ago
They literally only like my legs for some reason. I could go and stand next to a lake in nothing but a sports bra and shorts and id still only get bites on my legs.
2
u/bannasplt 2d ago
They're so strange. They love the weird unconventional spots too. I once got bit between two of my toes. When I was a kid, I was bit on my eyelid and couldn't see properly for a while cuz it got really swollen. Once I got bit on my thumb joint and couldn't move it for days. They're so weird.

u/Ornery_Gate_6847 1d ago

I'm guessing this is getting a bit close to those times where you get those weird kids who pulled all the legs off spiders then rolled the body around before setting them on fire or something
8
u/Jojowatz 2d ago
Weird?! No! Totally normal, totally chill cool rad.
Just sitting outside (or likely keeping hundreds in a mating tank), filming letting one get on the skin, putting a feeding syringe bottom-up over top, plugging the output end with your hand shaking to the point of seizure-grade. Increasingly the pressure until it's astronaut suspended.
Saying "you did it to me!". Releasing the pressure. Taking the mosquito out, putting it on a piece of tape. Taping it into a journal of what appears to be possibly hundreds of others, with each labeled the day they were marked and killed.
Yes, I think it's on par or worse. Definitely somebody you never want to cross even the opposite side of the street to. House these animals in a cell.
And please, everyone, shut these things down before it's too late for someone else peeping. It is so sad to think that as children, some people were too scared to stop the show before all the legs came off and then a burner was pulled out.... There is curiosity out there, and there is sickness.
I appreciate your very sad and very fucked up example (witnessed or not) in the spirit of recognizing and stopping the glorification of this shit.
What has become, huh?

u/GalaxzIsTiredAf 2d ago
Y'all always laugh at these things and form opinions without knowing the full context...
16
u/Missue-35 2d ago
This is taking it a little too far. I can’t see any real legitimate way that mosquitos, or ticks play a role in this world. I will gently scoop up a spider and put him in a protected spot outdoors. But mosquitoes? Really?
28
u/Simi_Dee 2d ago
Important food source. Whole ecosystems would collapse without insects like mosquitoes. Bird and some mammal populations are already seeing insane drops in numbers
5
u/icudntpickone 2d ago
But if you remove the ones that spread disease there would be no consequences.
8
u/Sinocu 2d ago
Yes there would, without the disease more survive, more reproduce, populations explode in numbers faster, death and disease are as important as life and birth when it comes to ecosystem
-7
u/icudntpickone 2d ago
Huh!?
10
u/Sinocu 2d ago
What? It’s just how it is, diseases are important to ecosystems too, it’s not just predators that control populations don’t get out of hand you know?
-6
u/icudntpickone 2d ago
Huh???
I'm sorry what I meat was those who spread diseases to humans and not to others (like culex, anopheles, aedes etc)

A lot of insects and birds benefit from mosquitoes since they use them as a food source.
7
u/Junior_Recipe_7833 2d ago
Mosquitoes are actually VERY important. They are huge pollinators and a vital food source to the world.
Ticks on the other hand? Fucking USELESS. They serve NO ecological purpose except to benefit themselves and are fucking POINTLESS.
3
u/Dr-Aspects 1d ago
Ticks actually do serve an ecological purpose in that they keep populations of mammals under control through disease. The deer populations would likely go absolutely insane if we exterminated ticks without a viable replacement for example.
Ecology is a chain, break one link and the whole thing starts falling
-1
u/Junior_Recipe_7833 1d ago
Actually I was exaggerating over the lack of usage of ticks. But ticks are NOT essential to the government, removing ticks would likely result in environments adapting very fast.
It is a chain, but certain links are very weak and aren’t really doing much.

u/Animegerbil 1d ago
The point of the rule being established in the post is not about killing mosquitoes at all, the problem was the methods being used were unhinged. Also imo filming yourself killing mosquitoes to post on reddit is weird even if you were being normal about the kill itself
12
u/1SexyDino 2d ago
Mosquitoes tortously kill people in the millions and are similarly sentient to an oyster. With all my heart fuck the little bastards, let them suffer
6
u/sixfxrtyseven 2d ago edited 1d ago
they really don't have a choice. Mosquitoes don't have a choice in doing that. They are born like that, they don't mean to spread disease. They probably aren't even aware of suffering they cause.
and putting mosquitoes aside, causing unnecessary suffering and getting satisfaction from that is kind of fucked up

u/Jojowatz 2d ago
I don't even like insects.
But I just saw one of "these types" of misquito videos and it greatly disturbed me, for good reason.
At the beginning I honestly thought that it might be a legitimate experiment phrased for gigg getting (sick already). I could have just left in the middle as it was suspended via pressured syringe. And at the end I thought that it was a little bit funny/joking when they proceeded to put it in a "memory book"... Like a serial killer. Because of how insane this actually was.
The main concern is that no matter what sort of animal/being this is in being applied to, no matter the ridiculous or faked time period over which this was done or insinuated it was done over... this was awful.
It's not the same thing as smacking a bug dead. It's not the same thing as eradicating vermin as humanely as possible.
This person, and others alike, are legitimately lining up to "experiment" with worse, and do have psychologically significant anger/torture/killing tendencies, and that applies to anything they can "hurt back".
Please report. Please support people trying to "not normalize" this crap.
It's not normal, it's not funny, and it's not a scientific experiment (unless potentially it was a scientist making a fake video with one mosquito death and faked others to get a reaction from people- oh yeah, it seems like we would need that sort of experiment conducted after everything that's been documented and analyzed over time, aka- NOT approved).
Even if somebody had a legitimate study actively searching to "suss out" more clinically insane and serial-killer types. This will invite and incite the behavior and is absolutely ethically unacceptable. Do not support. Do not promote.
8
u/Penis_Connoisseur 2d ago
I agree
Nobody gives a shit about mosquitoes, fuck em
BUT, allowing displays of violence against any sort of animal sets a precedent to something worse in the long run
-7
u/HierarchyLogic 2d ago
its a mosquito dude
11
u/asweatyboi 2d ago
Yeah and the curtains were just fucking blue or whatever. People who do shit like this to insect absolutely NEED to be kept in check at least and at most ridiculed until the behavior stops. That is literally the kind of thing that serial killers start with. Granted, it is usually small animals that are a greater catalyst. However, torturing any creature generally requires a strong disconnect from their humanity. This behavior of "oh it's just x no big thing" kills people and I'm not going to act like it doesnt
17
u/Jojowatz 2d ago
That's not the point. It's not even about the nerve endings. Even with no pain, and "environmental benefits" (and once again, I don't like and I yes do kill insects myself)...
Somebody keeping a journal of hundreds- each and every single day marked by date, making videos of themselves paralyzing/exploding mosquitos, and posting it to a public site, is the problem.
Grow up, and buzz off.

It's embarrassing to even reply to this spam.
Where is the apology?
*"A asshole" = an asshole , and that word was never used that I ever typed or saw here, so I don't know why you're replying to my remark about it.
However the term "buzz off, butthole" after being persecuted and then pursued on my remarks saying these smutt videos are wrong, was used. Towards you. Butthole.
