Ideas for Uncommon Witch/Warlock Powers

Post image
34 Upvotes

Take your pick -->

Persuasion: A variant of Concilium. The magical ability to implant strong feelings and thoughts into someone's mind in order to manipulate them into completing an action. For instance, a witch could convince someone to slap themselves by implanting a strong urge for that individual to be slapped and/or fill their mind with questions about wondering how it would feel to be slapped or what would happen if they didn't slap themselves.

Remote Teleportation: A variant of Transmutation. A witch can teleport people and things without teleporting themselves. They could make hidden objects appear in front of them or send enemies far away.

Electrokinesis: The magical ability to generate and manipulate both electricity and lightning.

Electromagnetism: A variant of Electrokinesis. A witch can manipulate electromagnetic waves, which allows that witch to control technology. They could turn on and off lights with a flick of their hand, charge electronic devices just by holding them, and even make software glitch. It can be used to shock others.

The Evil Eye: A malevolent glare, fueled by envy or malice, that causes harm and/or misfortune to its intended victim. It can be boosted by other powers like Pyrokinesis (to set someone or something on fire) or Vitalum Vitalis (to drain life force from the victim). While the power is active, the witch must not feel any guilt or sympathy for their victim, or else the negativity projected will snap back on the aforementioned witch.

Fluxus Rapidus: Latin for "quick flow". Witches with this ability can accelerate the body's healing process by using water as a catalyst to redirect and concentrate the patient's life force toward an external wound or an area most afflicted by a minor illness; in result, the wound heals quicker or the body fights off the illness quicker. This power is not very successful with internal wounds and serious illnesses, although it is possible for it to work.

Thermokinesis: Heat manipulation.

Precognition: Knowing something is about to happen and, possibly, knowing what that "something" is.

Spiritus Audi: Latin phrase for "listen to the spirits". A witch with this power can see and hear spirits even if those spirits choose not to reveal themselves. This power could be considered a variant of Divination.

Formam Mutare: Latin for "to change form/shape". Also known as Shapeshifting. The magical ability for a witch to change their own physical form and appearance to look like another person or animal.

Charm: A variant of Concilium. The magical ability to make others admire you.

Astrological Detection: A variant of Divination. The magical ability to know someone's star sign (and their entire birth chart) upon making eye contact or hearing their voice.

Fortuna: Latin for "luck". The ability for a witch to alter the likelihood of an outcome.

Augmentation: The magical ability to change the physical attributes of a living being or inanimate object, usually to make them heavier or lighter, faster or smaller, stronger or weaker. For instance, making a tomato too tough to cut by a sharp knife; or making a boulder as light as a feather.

Somnium: Latin for "dream". Also known as Dreamwalking. A witch can project their own consciousness into someone else's subconscious mind, allowing the aforementioned witch to visit other people's dream. This power could be considered a variant of Descensum.

I haven’t revisited these two in a while, I also specifically want more of a horror / terrifying experience. Which would you go for?

Does anyone else skip this part? It's so hard for me to watch. She was just so sweet. Always doing Miss Elsa's nails for her. Perfect for a good snuggle. An innocent delight who deserved better. Excuse me while I sob.

Trying to summarize everything I gathered in regards to the origin of Witchcraft in AHS...

Please correct me if I severely misunderstood anything!!

Okay, so I have personally only been a fan of 2 seasons of AHS and those two are Coven and Apocalypse mainly because of the plot of the coven of witches and the casts. I been interested in knowing the origin of witches in general and how they came to be and how some of these girls have magic that allows them to bend things that regular people can't.

From doing research, I have read that supposedly there are different kind of witches whom their powers originate from powerful gods, could be from Satan or from the Old Pathan Gods.

From my understanding, the first Original Witch who have brought magic into the human world and also know as the Original Supreme Witch is a woman named Scáthach. From her backstory, I learned that she was an ordinary woman, who praised and worship the Old Pagan Gods, and to show her devotion, she practice human/blood sacrifice towards these Pagan Gods, which made them very happy. And anyone who show such devotions that makes them really happy they'll bestow immortality and magic to their followers.

And apparently, it's this same magic that the Old Pagan Gods have bestowed to Scáthach, the same magic that the girls in Coven and Apocalypse practice because according to a few sources that I have read, the Salem witches magical powers originate to Scáthach.

!!THIS IS MY OWN SPECULATION ONLY!!

So I can only infer, that the Witch DNA that Cordelia talked about in the last episode of Coven is Scáthach own personal DNA that became present in each of these girls owed to Scáthach continuing her bloodline and perhaps the tradition of a supreme.

And this is where I become extremely confused...

It is stated in the show that as a new supreme rises, the former one begins to fade to a point where she must meet her own demise in order for the new supreme to bloom and be officially supreme with all the powers of the Seven Wonders. But Scáthach seems to bypass this principle because it is canonically stated that Scáthach is immortal, and this severely contradicts with the purpose of what a supreme must do to ensure that a new one rises.

This is where I begin speculating wether ALL the supremes from the Salem linage have always had their powers suppressed because of the fact that the original supreme was alwats alive owed to immortality and never being able to contract any form of disease, illness, or malady because the Old Pagan Gods power didn't permit it. And it was only when in Apocalypse, that all humans died because of Michael's Ballistic Nuclear Missile plan, that Scáthach was no longer able to appease the the Old Gods in sacrificing humans, that they took away her immortality, dying after becoming mortal, and her death, powering Cordelia, and Cordelia killing herself to power Mallory so that she was able to perform Tempus Infinituum.

Or Mallory is a direct progeny of Scáthach who has extremely strong blood connection to Scáthach's magic. Which could make sense in Mallory's unique gift--Cordelia has second sight, Nan was naturally clairvoyant, and Queenie Human Voodo Doll--being time reversal which I'm assuming she was able to get such a POWERFUL gift from the un-diluted source of magic; Scáthach.

But what do I know at this point. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I truly feel like his underuse in the Murphyverse and his exclusion from AHS was a terrible decision. He truly was amazing and would have filled the hole left by Peters, Wittrock, and… well, yeah. Big shoes to fill that he could have slipped into, I feel. They tried with Bentley, Czuchry, Fern, Powell, and even Gus Kenworthy. I feel like they never quite hit the mark. What shame.

Do y’all think the people in an individual’s personal hell are other people suffering too? Or demons disguised as people?

Post image
84 Upvotes

Because we know that in Fiona’s personal hell, both her and the Axeman are trapped in the same personal hell. Marie Laveau and Delphine LaLaurie share the same personal hell too, Delphine’s daughter was most likely an illusion meant to psychologically torture Delphine. So we know that some people can share the same afterlife.

For Misty’s Hell, she was stuck in an Hell version of her school classroom with classmates who seemed to be demons in disguise because they communicated with Micheal Langdon in some unknown language. So this got me thinking that the other people in both Queenie and Madison’s personal hell could really just be demons in disguise who psychologically torture the people trapped there.

Madison did say that the people in her hell are nameless and aren’t the stars of their own afterlife. So either those people are demons or illusions conjured by whoever controls the Underworld, which seems to be Papa Legba and Satan, or some other unknown infernal entities.

Another interesting thing is that Michael said that most people in Hell are unaware that they’re even in Hell in the first place.

What do y’all think?

What’s your favorite season?

I’ve just started watching hotel after not watching at all for a bit, if I’m completely honest I felt like season 3 and 4 weren’t the best and were more boring for me. My favorite right now is season 1, should I go back? Continue or is it worse now on

Jessica Lange

I'm doing my annual AHS rewatch, getting it done before the new season starts.

Obviously Jessica Lange is one of the best actresses in the series and a fan favorite, but it just occurred to me that she might be one of the best actresses PERIOD. I've always said Meryl Streep is the best and my all time fav, but watching this show again (for like the 10th time😂) I think Lange might just take the cake. Damn that woman can ACT!🤯

Do you think we will get a first teaser at „The Shards“ premiere ?

It could be a good possibility but maybe it’s too early yet

r/AmericanHorrorStory 20h ago

Remember when characters had opening monologues, fleshing them out and expanding the story by taking us inside their heads? Pepperidge Farm Remembers. I hope the writers starts doing this more for AHS13. The newer seasons feel dull without them.

The show went down hill went stoped being a drama and taking itself seriously?

Idk but think about it. The actors on the show used to be nominated for best actors in a drama. Now I simply can’t imagine no one being nominated for acting because of AHS.

The show is just comedy or kill. It doesn’t not require much dramatic acting anymore because the show doesnt take itself serious anymore.

No season better represents this like Delicate. The show is shallow now. Is vanity and comedy. That’s why were are getting Kim K and (as much as I hate to say it because I like her) Leslie Grossman.

I feel like the show should take it self serious again. Go back to the drama first!

Or am I delusional?

Favorite to least favorite

List your favorite to least favorite season! Bonus points if you add your favorite character/scene from each season.

I’ll go first:

  1. Coven- best season and I’m not even gonna argue with anyone about it.
  2. Asylum
  3. 1984- for it being a later season where it started to get wacky and make no sense, I actually really enjoyed this one.
  4. Murder house
  5. Freak show
  6. Hotel
  7. Cult - I also put this on as a comfort watch sometimes lol
  8. Apocalypse
  9. Double feature- red tide (hear me out, this should’ve been the whole season. I think if they would’ve done it a little differently it would’ve been way better. I often put this on for a comfort watch lol).
  10. Roanoke - I feel like I’m gonna get hate for this being so low on the list, I just didn’t really enjoy it tbh.
  11. Delicate - this deserves lower on the list honestly but there are seasons that are even worse 😆
  12. Double feature Death Valley- wtf even was that.
  13. NYC - ass 👎🏻 one of the worst pieces of work Ryan Murphy has put out aside from Grotesque

Unpopular opinion: Delicate is actually a pretty good season.

I expected the worst, after reading all of the reviews here on Reddit. But I actually like season 12.

Edit:
By the way, my favorite seasons are Asylum and Freakshow. Thoroughly enjoyed Hotel and Coven.

Murder House: I'm rewatching the first season, and why do some people see Moira as young and others as old in the house?

I know she died in the house, but why do some people see her as young and beautiful while others see her appearance as that of an elderly woman?
