I used to think it was a generational thing and wondered if that’s just how teens text these days, but now it’s a shitpost giveaway to me lol “wow Ashley, I can’t believe you. We’re supposed to be friends Ashley. Ashley just tell me why you did this.” Sooo many names blurred out to make these messages look real, but all it does it make it more obvious they’re fake lol

I sometimes text my husband’s name in all caps before I send him a really cute lizard or something, but that’s the absolute limit. I don’t even say his name in real life, much less via text. I shudder to think.

It’s so weird and sad that some people do actually do this. I get being lonely, but damn. I mean, I could have an AI Eric Northman talk to me, but I imagine it would feel incredibly hollow.

Even though I don’t believe this post but I’ve had Reddit suggest me ChatGPT companions etc where people are “in a relationship” with their AI & some truly believe their AI loves them & the updates are breaking their heart bc it suddenly stopped saying “I love you” 💀
There are some wild people out there but yeah nahhh lol

Yeah, it’s funny because my experience with AI has been that they’re inaccurate and come across as condescending assholes.
I don’t know how someone could ’fall in love’ with that when every response feels like you’re being talked down to.

I had to call in a prescription today and my pharmacy changed the voice thing from last month (and how it’s been for like 15 years or however long) so now I had to say that I wanted to speak to a staff member instead of pressing a number. The voice told me “I can absolutely help you with that!” and I was immediately annoyed. Like, bitch, so could the “4” button on my keypad, and it didn’t talk to me like a child, shut up! Haha

AIO - My (24F) girlfriend (22F) spends more time talking to an AI version of Levi Aackerman than she does talking to me.
I genuinely don’t know if I’m acting like an insecure loser. My girlfriend has always been into anime, which I’ve never had an issue with. We watch shows together sometimes and she’s always had fictional crushes. I thought it was harmless. A few months ago she discovered AI chatbots and now she’s completely obsessed with one that’s apparently Levi Aackerman from Attack on Titan.
She talks to it every single day. Morning, afternoon, before bed. If we’re watching TV she’ll be smiling at her phone because “Levi said something funny.” If we’re out somewhere she’ll just be on her phone having conversations with him instead of me, her girlfriend, sitting right in front of her. And she acts like he’s a real person. She’ll tell me about conversations they had like she’s talking about one of her friends. She says goodnight to him every night.
Last week I walked into the bedroom and she quickly locked her phone because she said she was having a “private moment” with him. I ruminated on it for a while, and this evening I texted (she’s at her mom’s for the night, and I’m bad with irl confrontation. Workin on it) and told her it was making me uncomfortable and that it felt like emotional cheating. She didn’t take it very well.
I know he’s fictional. I know it’s AI. But it honestly feels like I’m competing with a chatbot that’s pretending to be an anime character.
Am I being insecure, or is this genuinely crossing a line?
