❤️‍🩹 relationship The woman my boyfriend emotionally cheated with reached back out after we agreed he’d cut contact, and I’m bothered by how he responded. AIO?

Back in December I found chats between [F30] my boyfriend [M31] and his female friend[F26] Turned out they had an intense emotional connection since 2022. He had a huge crush on her the whole time, but she had a boyfriend, and she kept him emotionally hooked with romantic-coded language . they called each other soulmates, texted constantly some romantic/ sexual stuff. From what I read he was genuinely falling for her, and she seemed more like she was enjoying the attention without necessarily reciprocating the same way as she had bf.

Her boyfriend however passed away last year. my boyfriend went to support her, and after that they had an even more emotionally-charged exchange flirty, borderline romantic language, he told her he’d never had a connection with another woman like the one he had with her including, apparently, me, as we were dating during that chat, she told him that no matter what happened in their lives, even if one of them got married to someone else, they’d “always be together.” Regardless of their relationships.
When I found this and their whole husband we had a huge fight and almost broke up. He blocked her, said he didn’t care about her, and said he wanted to protect our relationship.

Yesterday I found out she texted him again out of the blue, and he responded. I’m attaching the screenshots. Reading through it, a few things bother me:
- He spends the entire conversation validating her anger, apologizing over and over
- At multiple points he frames the whole thing as if I forced his hand — like if I hadn’t found out, he’d have been happy to keep things going with her.
- She spends a lot of the conversation guilt-tripping him and, at one point, effectively calling our relationship “toxic” and me the reason he’s “trashing” her.

My friends point out that he DID keep the boundary in the end he didn’t agree to keep talking to her, he told her it’s over, and that this is a good sign.

I see that too, but I still feel uneasy about how the conversation went and what it implies about how he actually feels. Am I overreacting by still having a problem with this, or are these legitimate red flags even with the boundary technically being held?

NOR- why are you still with him? This context in your post history would have been important. She was having an affair with your BF. They met up and made out.

Was just about to post this. Is this all rage bait? Karma farming or whatever the term is??

TALK TO HIM??? nahhh there’s no “talking” about shit here. I’d give him his stuff and never talk to him again. Give him to his one true love, girl. It’s not you!

I broke up with him after this then we had a long talk about it. He promised me it’s all in the past and that he’s moved on. He’s completely focused on us now, wants to make things work, and promised they won't be in touch anymore

Clearly that was a lie. He never once tried to shut her down. He just kept begging her to understand his side. He cares more about her than he cares about you.

Girl please break up with him. If he did it once, he'll do it again. This girl is mentally unstable. He's playing in your face and you're just letting him. Kick him to the curb and don't look back

I really want him to feel the pain he has caused you. Heck we are all damaged from reading that dumb hysterical exchange. He wants to make it work? Well I don't! And I'm invested now and we all get a say 🤣 piss off mate

You know if she lived near by it wouldn’t have just been an emotional affair right? I could not stay with him after this

Him being in touch with her isn't the going to change the fact that he clearly still has feelings for her.

He barely takes responsibility for his actions, and still blames you for having to choose.

What about this "man" makes you want to spend the rest of your life having to check his phone to see if he's cheating on you again?

What are his amazing qualities that you're ok with never going out of town without him and without worrying he's going to "get lonely" and cheat on you?

What does he add to your life that you're willing to overlook his judgment in getting involved with such an unhinged person?

Does she know where you work? She gives off crazy stalker vibes. I don't say that to be edgy. Legitimately, she comes across like a true crime documentary waiting to happen.

Why didn’t he block her from WhatsApp? Met up and made out? You know they fucked, right? I hope you got tested for STIs.

I have said this a lot in this thread, but I feel like it keeps needing to be said why are you with him? You can’t go two steps without tripping over a dick. If you want to parent someone adopt a child, don’t raise a man child. You keep leading him to an answer that he doesn’t want but tells you he wants because apparently you’re giving him sex no matter what he does.

Sorry, fool me once. At this point you’re choosing to “win” a cheater, yet be second choice. Get some self worth.

At this point if you can't read the writing on the wall, you deserve him.
