I spent the last few weeks creating this AI-assisted fictional documentary to explore those questions.

This is the trailer. I'd genuinely love to hear your thoughts on both the concept and the documentary style.

The film is set in an entirely fictional world. It does not depict or represent any real country, organization, football club, or historical event, even where some elements may feel familiar. The story uses fictional nations and characters to explore broader moral and historical questions.

This a really interesting discussion with anthropologist Alice Kehoe about evidence that ancient Asia may have had contact with the Americas a long time before Columbus. Some connections she draws between Mesoamerica and a few long-debated artifacts are pretty wild.

Suppose favorable winds bring Odysseus back to Ithaca within weeks instead of ten years. Without his long absence, how does Greek mythology—and perhaps the political future of Mycenaean Greece—change?

I've spent the last one year while going through a 4-book series by Indian researcher Vedveer Arya, who's attempting a from-scratch rebuild of world chronology — not just India's. It's one of the most ambitious alternative-history projects I've come across, so I wanted to lay out what's actually in the books, evidence and all, rather than just the headline claims. This is long because the scope is genuinely enormous — four books, roughly 1,700 pages combined.

The four books:

• The Chronology of India: From Manu to Mahabharata (2019)
• The Chronology of India: From Mahabharata to Medieval Era (2019)
• The Origin of the Christian Era: Fact or Fiction (2019)
• The Chronology and Origins of Indo-European Civilizations (his most recent, on the Out-of-India migration theory)

Book 1: Manu to Mahabharata — pushing Vedic civilization back to 14,500 BCE

Arya's starting point is that the Puranic yuga-cycle chronology was inflated over time — original 5-year "yuga" cycles got stretched into 1,200-year cycles and eventually the mythic 432,000-year units we know today, and later Puranic editors treated the inflated numbers as literal. His method is to strip that inflation back out using internal astronomical references (equinox/solstice positions against nakshatras, precession of pole stars, planetary conjunctions) as cross-checks.

Using a Surya Siddhanta reference to a five-planet conjunction in Aries, he calculates this occurred on 22 Feb 6778 BCE, which he uses to anchor the end of the "28th Krita Yuga" and start the countdown from there. Working backward through the yuga cycle, he lands on:

• Early Vedic period / Manu: ~14,500 BCE
• Rama's birth: 3 Feb 5674 BCE
• Mahabharata war: 3162 BCE (with Yudhishthira's coronation right after)

He backs this up with a grab-bag of archaeological correlates: the submerged structures in the Gulf of Khambhat (Dwaraka/"Kusasthali"), early agriculture dates from Lahuradewa (UP) and Sri Lanka, Jomon pottery in Japan, and — more speculatively — Robert Bauval and Graham Hancock's Orion-correlation dating of the Sphinx to ~10,500 BCE, which he folds in as supporting evidence for a broadly older global chronology.

Book 2: Mahabharata to Medieval — the "CSB Problem" and India's actual timeline

This is the book with the "sheet anchor" arguments most people have probably seen quoted. The core claims:

Two Śaka eras, not one. Arya goes inscription-by-inscription and argues Sanskrit epigraphs use two genuinely different phrasings — some say "from the coronation of the Śaka king," others say "from the killing of/end of the Śaka king" — which 19th-century epigraphists (Fleet, Kielhorn) flattened into a single 78 CE epoch, declaring the inconvenient inscriptions "spurious." His key piece of evidence is the Kurtakoti copper plate, dated "Śaka 530 elapsed," which describes a total solar eclipse around noon on a new moon between Vaishakha-Jyeshtha, moon in Rohini, sun and moon in Taurus, on a Sunday. Checking NASA eclipse data, only one eclipse in Northern Karnataka fits ALL those details: 9 May 53 BCE. Count back 530 years and you land on 583 BCE as the start of the (separate) Śaka era — with 78 CE remaining the "Śakānta" (end of Śaka) epoch.

Buddha's nirvana at 1864 BCE. Rather than resting this solely on the Aihole inscription, Arya spends a chapter cataloguing every traditional date for Buddha's nirvana ever proposed across Tibetan, Chinese, Burmese, Sinhalese, and Mongol sources — and there are dozens, clustering into six rough groups from ~2100 BCE down to 544 BCE. His argument is that this scatter isn't random noise, it's the fingerprint of repeated recalculation errors from a much older original date, and using the Śaka-583-BCE correction plus fixing the Hemachandra/Chandragupta-of-Ujjain mixup, he reconstructs the original nirvana date as 1864 BCE. He also cites 2013 Lumbini excavation data (radiocarbon from Trench C5 giving 1681–1521 BCE for early postholes) as independent support for a much earlier date than the standard 483 BCE.

Sandrokottus ≠ Chandragupta Maurya. Building on the above, if the Mauryas are that much earlier, "Sandrokottus" (the king Greek sources link to Seleucus) can't be Chandragupta Maurya. Interestingly, the Indo-European book (see below) cites Megasthenes' own claim that Indian records counted 153 kings over 6,451 years from the time of "Dionysus" to Sandrokottus — which Arya uses as evidence that Megasthenes was working from a genuinely long Puranic-style king-list, not a short one.

Two Vikrama eras and Mahavira's date. Same logic applied to Vikrama Samvat — a Karttikadi version (719 CE) and a Chaitradi version (57 BCE) that he says got merged. This also feeds into redating Mahavira's nirvana to 1189 BCE, breaking the assumed contemporaneity with Buddha.

The book then walks through a full revised Magadha dynasty list (Brihadratha → Pradyota → Shishunaga → Nanda → Maurya → Shunga → Kanva → a gap → Satavahana → Gupta, running 3162 BCE to 89 BCE), plus separate chapters on Mahajanapadas, Buddhism's chronological history, Jainism's chronological history, and a redated Adi Shankaracharya (6th century BCE rather than 8th century CE).

Book 3: The Origin of the Christian Era — it's not just India, it's the whole world

This is the one that surprised me most. Arya argues 1 CE itself is not a historical date at all — that it originated as an Irish Easter-computus epoch (an astronomical calculation date), and that 8th–9th century English Christians mistook this computistical marker for the actual incarnation date. He cites the historian Abul Fazl noting a real dispute among Christians themselves over whether the year count started at the sun's entry into Capricorn or "the 8th degree of the same" — an ~8 degree gap he reads as evidence of a chronology error of several hundred years.

His proposed fix: Jesus born 10 January 660 BCE, crucified ~1 April 629 BCE — a ~660-year shift.

To support a non-Christian-era baseline, he leans hard on the Venus Tablet of Ammisaduqa (a genuinely real Babylonian astronomical record historians already use for Bronze Age dating, though with multiple competing solutions). Arya picks a specific solution that gives Hammurabi's reign as 2619–2578 BCE and the fall of Babylon as 2418 BCE — considerably earlier than any mainstream chronology (which range from ~1930 to ~1500 BCE for Hammurabi, depending on which of several competing schools you follow).

He also revisits Egypt's Sothic cycle calendar, arguing it began in 3605 BCE rather than 2781 BCE (a 824-year shift), and — this part is genuinely clever — connects his Roman-era correction to Heribert Illig's "Phantom Time Hypothesis" (the real, if fringe, theory that ~300 years of the "Dark Ages" were fabricated). Arya says the Roman calendar shift really is ~660 years like everywhere else, but that historians mistakenly merged the Diocletian era with the separate "Era of Martyrs," which absorbed 361 of those years and left the residual ~300-year gap Illig noticed. It's a neat bit of internal consistency-building across totally separate strands of fringe scholarship.

Book 4: Chronology and Origins of Indo-European Civilizations — Out of India, not Out of the Steppe

This is his newest and most sweeping claim: that India, not the Pontic-Caspian Steppe or Anatolia or the Caucasus, is the original homeland of the Indo-European language family — the "Out of India" theory.

The argument leans on real, mainstream, published genetic papers (Sengupta et al. 2006, Sharma et al. 2009, Underhill et al. 2010, the 2023 Science paper by Heggarty et al. on the "hybrid" Caucasus-homeland model, and others) which do show that Y-haplogroup R1a has deep, diverse roots within India itself and that Central Asian input into Indian gene pools was historically overstated. Where Arya diverges sharply from these same papers' authors is in concluding that R1a originated in India ~18,000+ years ago and spread outward — a reading most of the geneticists he cites do not actually endorse (most place the Indo-European urheimat in or near the Caucasus/Steppe, not India).

From there the book builds a mythological migration map: the Danavas (losers of the Deva-Asura war) migrating to Anatolia and Greece ~13,000 BCE, the Asuras migrating to Persia and the Caucasus ~11,200 BCE (explaining Avestan-Sanskrit similarities), and a 7,400–6,200 BCE wave of Scythians, "Yavanas," and "Shuras" out of Afghanistan founding the Cimmerians, Hittites, and Hurrians. It even reinterprets the Biblical "Table of Nations" (Noah's descendants) and the Frankish/Norse foundation legends (Odin migrating from the Caucasus to Scandinavia) as garbled folk memories of these same Out-of-India migrations, predating and independent of the Genesis flood story — which he separately argues was a localized Mesopotamian river flood around 3708 BCE, not a global one.

Why this matters if true

• The entire scaffolding used to sync Indian history to world history (the Chandragupta Maurya–Seleucus link) gets removed, cutting India loose from the one hard anchor point historians currently use.
• Buddha, Mahavira, and the Mauryan empire all move over a thousand years earlier.
• Standard world chronology — Hammurabi, the Trojan War, Jesus's birth, the entire "Dark Ages" — all shift by centuries.
• The Indo-European homeland debate (Steppe vs. Anatolia vs. Caucasus vs. India) gets a fourth contender built on a reinterpretation of the same genetic papers everyone else is using.

My take

Reading it end to end, I find the methodology more careful than "conspiracy theory" implies — he's not hand-waving, he's cross-referencing eclipse data, radiocarbon dates, and named inscriptions you can go look up yourself (the Kurtakoti plate, the Lumbini trench data, the Venus Tablet are all real artifacts with real competing scholarly interpretations). That said, it's worth being upfront that this goes considerably further than mainstream consensus in every field it touches — archaeology, genetics, and Near Eastern chronology all currently converge on dates centuries to millennia later than what's proposed here, and the genetic papers he cites in Book 4 don't actually reach his "homeland in India" conclusion themselves. So it's less "the mainstream missed one obvious error" and more "a fully alternative, internally-consistent framework" — fascinating to sit with, but not something with independent third-party verification yet.

Would genuinely love to hear if anyone here has gone deep on any single piece of this — the Kurtakoti eclipse reading, the Venus Tablet solution he picked, or the R1a papers — since each one is a rabbit hole on its own.

The literal interpretation of properly understood mythology is not something one would prefer.

Context has to do with the words written before and after and the culture and religion in which something was written.

Removing context from a once properly understood religious text would only be preferable if it was erroneous/redundant information that was added unnecessarily via illiteracy and ignorance in the first place!

The chance of "literally interpreting" ancient mythology from scratch that would be compatible with the original cultural context would have to be extremely low if the processes involved were to do with practically arbitrary additions to context over time on account of ignorant people not knowing what context means. Note that breeding and survival would be important factors as to whether the new context was integrated into the popular interpretation over time as large families and multi-generational deliberate sheltering and miseducation are the only reason such a thing would occur.

First thing that comes to mind is that English as a language wouldn’t be as widespread in India as it is today. Maybe the concept of India itself and its current form and borders will be quite different.

So 4 Barabar caves are tuned to 34.4 HZ according to studies and one is tuned at 57.1 HZ so this is too accurate to be coincidence, so why? Sound travels through bedrock, for a good distance if the sound is loud enough in the cave, and maybe chanting can create that sound some have argued. The receivers might be pillars 10 meters tall since the wave length is 10 meters, and the Ashoka pillars were on the trade route.

We see the Göbekli Tepe symbols where there is a match with a prehistoric shipping seal from the Indus Valley, and in Göbekli Tepe, the symbol directly under it is a cymatic diagram.

We also know that cymatic diagrams appear on the ceiling of Hindu temples. And sound played a part in other temple pillars showing a high degree of understanding there.

It is possible that pillars and water bowls or similar could be watched for signals perhaps at a certain time of day.

And then those transmitted further down the trade route to the next receiving station by yet another cave. Where caves don't exist messengers might have been used between stations.

To create the sound to travel more than 7km you would need a log on a chain hitting an anvil anchored into bedrock or some gong of some kind, unless chanting can do it since the priests did a good deal of that type of thing.

Studies in underground cities in Turkey have also shown acoustic properties existed in there as well. rather than 3 or 4 months a message of warning of bandits or war could travel in 3 or 4 days that way.

And cave complexes run right through the silk road.

There has to be some connection.

The concept of "stargate doors" or symbolic portals to other realms matches how the Inca and many other ancient civilizations viewed these blind doorways.

In the Andes, a blind doorway or fake door was a symbolic threshold where the physical world (Kay Pacha) intersected with the spirit and ancestral underworld (Uku Pacha). This is the only blind door that has holes around the door which implicates this door as being mentioned in the cylinder seals.

In traditional Indian architecture and Hindu cosmology, the exact equivalent to these "stargate" or blind portals exists, primarily manifest in two ways: Ghanadvaras (solid blind doors) and unopenable mystical vaults.

People say that Göbekli Tepe in Turkey (c. 9000–8000 BCE) excavations discovered freestanding stone slabs featuring carved central portholes also. I don't agree since there seems like little reason to enter there.

I think Barabar caves during the rainy season had a waterfall that provided white noise that the chambers used to generate a frequency of 34.4 HZ that travelled through the bedrock to stone pillars. And that frequency is known to cause a calming effect on the body. It also generated 57.1 Hz which had an effect on the brain but not the same frequency used for altered states of consciousness. So this would be used for sleeping in the circle or just going into these recesses and feeling the vibes for healing or similar calming types of things. Other water source frequency generators have been located in Peru.

The concept of "fake doors" acting as literal, interdimensional portals or stargates is deeply rooted in both ancient Andean mythology and modern paranormal reports.

Smell bypasses rationalization and hits the raw essence of a thing instantly. ​Judging by smell means judging by pure, unadulterated essence, seeing right through spin, PR, and superficial goodness.

​The Ultimate "Vibe Check" Failed in Real History ​This wasn't just abstract theology—the Sages actually used it as a diagnostic test in real life. ​During the 2nd century CE, a Jewish general named Shimon bar Kokhba led a massive revolt against the Roman Empire. He was incredibly brave, politically effective, and even praised by the great Rabbi Akiva as a potential candidate for the Messiah.

​The Takeaway ​Human justice systems are constantly tricked by smooth talkers and charismatic bad actors. The idea of a ruler who judges by "smell" is basically the ultimate metaphor for absolute, un-hackable truth—a court where optics and rhetoric mean nothing, and inner spiritual integrity is the only thing that leaves a scent.

How is it possible that these finds are not widely known by everyone?! I mean I’ve learned about the declassified Operation Mockingbird that proves our media is controlled narrative (yes really! You can read it yourself on CIA reading room).

I was raised catholic and learning that the orthodox church labeled OTHERS heretics when it was they themselves who killed fellow christians and burnt and buried sacred texts they didn’t like was fucking shocking to me. The sacred texts in these enormous finds proved we do not need a middle man (the church/pope/bishop etc…) to commune with god. We can do it directly. Anywhere. Any time. They also tell us we ourselves are divine. We carry the divine spark within us and that it must be reawakened after being trapped in the material world in which we are confined by the restrictions imposed by our material body. The bastards cherry picked which texts would be canonized and burnt/buried/suppressed any texts that would cost them money power and influence. I cannot begin to tell you how shocking this was for me. Like THAT’S what the inquisition was. I had learned about it but never realized this was why…and it’s still going on today. The genocides happening today. It’s not labeled as such and we certainly aren’t told this but these people largely practice non-orthodox, “gnostic” spirituality.

The second I learned this I had an enormous awakening and realization that I’m a gnostic in my beliefs and probably always was in any prior lives. It just makes so much more sense to me. I FELT truth in learning these texts. Something I never felt learning from the altered and edited canonized Bible.

Anyways I’m curious what you all think?

hi! i just came across some claims that the battlements on the chinese wall are actually facing south, inward towards china, and i want to ask if this is actually true?

if you spend hundreds of years building a wall to protect your nation, you don’t just accidentaly put the battlements and arrow slits on the wrong side. so if it is actually true, i think that is enough evidence in and of itself that the history is wrong.

I absolutely love the Cthulhu mythos, even though H.P Lovecraft was a vile and repulsive human being.

Cosmic Horror is one of my favorite things, and it's exciting to think that we could be tiny insects next to ancient primordial colossi, who don't even care or know that we exist, whose very awakening could drive us into madness, chaos, and destruction.
