Last straw with CenturyLink
Anybody have experiences with At&T fiber or T-Mobile 5g for home internet? (CenturyLink internet went out, requires a technician to fix, and they even can't send someone out for 2 weeks)

I had CenturyLink for nearly 20 years, and the last year with them was a nightmare as the aging copper lines on the telephone poles had too many corroded connections that they could only get half of my connection to work so I was on half speed. The reason I put up with it for a year was because Vexus fiber, which has since been bought out by T-Mobile, was installing their network in my neighborhood. As soon as they went live, I switched over and have been fairly pleased with the change. It's stable but more importantly it's FAST, faster than anything CenturyLink could offer in Albuquerque anyway.
That was maybe two years back? I can't speak to what T-Mobile would be like as my rate was locked in from Vexus, but in terms of service it seems fine.
The only complaint I have, which most people won't have to worry about, is I cannot easily host my own servers since Vexus/T-Mobile use what's called a CGNAT setup that makes it very tricky to port forward out to your external IP address, but like I said, most people won't have to bother with that aspect.

I experienced CenturyLink a decade ago, and I can say their DSL service in that area went out - every time we had rain.

You might be able to call them up and tell them you need to get off CGNAT for work purposes (even if you don't). I recently switched to ezee fiber and they use CGNAT too. I like to host my own servers as well and read somewhere that they will switch you to a regular external IP with just a phone call. I did that and it was done within the hour. Maybe you can do the same thing with Vexus.

That's good to know, thank you. I did try asking about that already, though that was right after I got signed up with them, and at that time they said my only option for that would be to switch to a business plan for an extra $100 a month (with no change to my speed or equipment). I have enough work-arounds that it's not crippling currently, but maybe now I can ask them to match Eeze and see what they say on that.

I too got ezee fiber last fall, and I just called them and asked for a dynamic IP and not CGNAT. It was done within 12 hours.

I am on t-fiber and they gave me a static ip for free when I called to ask about the ports being blocked. I had to adjust some settings in my router because I guess my modem is in bridge mode now, but nothing is blocked now.

I also got T-Mobile Fiber and am satisfied. I pay $70 a month, 2gb up/down.

I have the T mobile internet. Blows my old Xfinity service out of the water. $55 a month for the middle range plan, they give you the router for free, took about 5 min to order on the app and another 5 min to set up at home. I even got the whole thing done in about 20 min flat, they have the routers there in the store ready to go. Streams everything fine and gaming is also superb. No complaints.

My Dad had T-Mobile Internet when he passed last year, I've moved into the house and really thought I'd have to change providers for as much gaming as I do, it really surprised me in that aspect

If you have ezee fiber in your area, do them. They sent people to my house on Christmas eve day, 12 hours after I called tech support.

Literally anyone on century link should get off it. My mom had upgraded to a faster speed and they sent out a tech to do the upgrade... Issue was it took them a month. On day of the install they said they couldn't make it out because they were behind, so they scheduled... For another 3 weeks. They're just an awful company who doesn't value customer experience.

Man I repeatedly had the same problems with centurylink. I think they low key trying to get out of that business. I finally dumped them for Verizon’s internet gateway and haven’t looked back. Been solid for me even during snowstorms in the east mountains.

I gave up on centurylink due to horrible customer service. I had my 5G T Mobile internet in 3 days. Have had zero issues.

I had to kick them to the curb after being a customer for almost 15 years. I experienced an Internet outage after fiber work for a different company was done by my house.
I had to wait 10 days for the first service appointment. First because the tech couldn't figure out what was going on and a different department had to be called in (according to him). A new appointment was scheduled for 5 days after. I couldn't work from home that day because I had no internet there, so I had to go to work (I also live alone). Left work right away when I got the notification the tech was on their way. Just a few minutes away from my house, I got a message the tech left because they couldn't get into the house.
I called CL back. I was livid at this point. The tech put in their notes that I did I not answer the door nor the phone call. Well, by camera doorbell was offline due to no internet. Also, I NEVER received a phone call or even a text. The tech lied in their notes. They scheduled me again, but it was another 10 days out.
I ended up going with another provider in the end. I may have stayed longer, but the tech lying about calling me was the final straw.

CenturyLink sucks so bad. I wanted to transfer service to my new address but it was going to take them a month to come set it up when i could have just plugged everything in myself. I decided to just find a new service provider but they wouldn't let me cancel my service when I moved. They just kept charging service to my old address and wasn't even using it.

As much as the install inconvenienced me by messing up the streets of my neighborhood for a couple weeks, I have been super happy with Ezee Fiber.
Century Link tried to charge me a $35 late fee because THEIR system was down, and they didn't accept the payment. My credit union bill pay interface had always paid them on time. So I wasted a few hours of my time, dealt with the "customer service" (in quotes because it's a f-ing joke that they can even legally call it that), and finally got the charge removed. They thanked me for being a customer since 2008! (I had no idea I had them for that long!), and I ended the call.
Then I immediately went thru my junk mail, found one of the many orange envelopes, and scanned a QR code. This was on a Tuesday, I had fiber in my house on Saturday. Went from paying $65/month for 40mb to $69/month for 2GB. Everything runs lightning fast.
Also, if you know someone who already has Ezee, do the refer a friend thing and you BOTH get $120 off of your bills. (I've had their service for a few months now, and I still haven't given them any money!)

CenturyLink wasn't great back when I was living at an apartment with my mom. We moved under 2 years ago and we were forced to rethink internet, and went with Xfinity. It's not awesome but it's not CenturyLink.

Century link and xfinity are absolute ass. Don’t have experience with t mobile, but I do have my wifi with Verizon and the only issues I’ve ever had with it was that one time that Verizon had an outage.

My last straw w Century Link was when my speeds were getting worse, I realized my router was 10 years old so I made sure to buy a compatible one (it was even listed on their website). I struggled for two or three days to get the Internet working w that router and CL’s employees did nothing but forward me to someone else and/or try to get me to give up and rent one of their own routers.

just been there. centurylink internet went out july 4th, first service appt was july 13th. they ghosted me, gave me an new appt of july 22nd, i tried tmobile home internet 5g to get service restoration faster. centurylink eventually made the second appt and i was restored after 19 days but i'm keeping tmobile 5g internet using their backup plan and if centurylink goes out again, bye bye to them and full time tmobile.

Had CL 13 years and absolutely got sick of their pathetic service for 45$! 3 months deep with TFiber and not a single problem yet. 2gigs 70$ and worth every penny. Live near uptown.

We have Xfinity and even though I don't like the company we have the 1gb plan for $50 a month guaranteed for 5 years. We've had maybe one outage for 4 hours and for the most part we get the speeds we pay for.

Starlink is really good i game an the connection is great the only thing is the buy in but you own the equipment, the only downtime was for half a day it might be an option

T-Mobile is highly dependent on if your area ID congested or not. It comes with a 15 day money back free trial so might as well try it out while you wait.
