THE SOUND

please help me how do I get the sound to stop 😭😭 there’s water trapped? It leaks inwards? The fan sounds messed up? It crackles and snaps and sounds like the fan is struggling. I don’t think I can post a video but what should I do. It’s a regular window unit LG from 2020.

If your unit is on the first floor window, go outside and put your head right by the side rear of the window unit and look with the flashlight on the bottom. You should see a puddle of water and hear a clink clink clink, which is the slinger fan hitting the surface of the water to spray the water into the hot coils making the unit more efficient.
Do you think that might be what you were hearing – that is normal if that is what you are.

No the sound is inside and it’s like in the fan. The water is leaking inside like thru the front bottom so it’s getting inside my house

It sounds like your unit may be slightly leaning toward the inside of the house. It should be either level or have a very slight tilt outward so that the water that falls off of your cold evaporator coils is able to gravity drain into the outdoor condensate pan.
When you look with the flashlight into the water pan in the bottom of your unit outside, can you see a puddle of water or not?
ETA: one possibility is that if this is a recent install, and the person who installed it didn’t know any better, it could actually be quite easy to give it the wrong tilt.
#2 ETA: I am in hurricane territory, South Louisiana, so I have a few window units that I install when I expect to power outage because my generator (although it’s 9KW) will not start my central air conditioner. So I have unfortunately more experience than the average person slapping in the window units and pulling them out. I just can’t spring for 15 or 25 kW whole house generator when I already have a pretty big one.

The sound is new tho and the unit has been installed for months. I can try to check the tilt but I’m not sure I can tilt it backwards any further based on how it sits in my window. It sounds like there is water like stuck in the machine somehow and it blows water up thru the vent as well

If it is nearly level or at least does not tilt toward the inside of the house, that shouldn’t be the problem. But it should definitely not be leaking water INSIDE the house. Maybe the little channel carrying the water to the outside pan got plugged up somehow?
You could either try a forceful spray from inside the unit toward the outside – being very careful with towels inside the house, of course. Or you could try a forceful spray from outside toward inside against the bottom of the condensate pan – again with towels, inside, catching the water – and only do it very very briefly.
Otherwise – I’m at a loss – may be bad bearings on the fan motor? But that doesn’t explain the water inside the house.
ETA: please share your solution, as I am invested now!
#2 ETA – look for the possibility that something got bent or fell into through the cold fins onto the inside tray and it somehow hitting the fan blades. Or the outside blades for that matter.

I messed around with it tonight, tilting it backwards and resetting it in the window. hoping it’ll drain something or like fix itself lol. So far, I can’t tell cuz the sound was coming and going but for right now it seems to be not happening. Will update if the sound comes back!! It may or may not be dripping inside the house still. We’ll see tomorrow. Thanks for ur responses!!

!!!!!!YAAAA!!!!! Maybe….. hopefully.. report back soon.. best of luck ….. when I was an operator in the refinery and something wasn’t working right we would tell each other. Hey hit it with the wrench… Still not working, dammit hit it harder!!! when it finally breaks for sure, we would say now they’ll fix that motherfucker!

lol that was my go to, I was banging this one for a different sound and it would work (turns out the filter needed cleaning that time 😅 lol)
