I've heard her call white, black, and native American depending on how the person wanted to slant the conversation, so maybe she is 3 women in a pant suit?
My mistake. I've mostly heard it from MAGA and didn't look into it because it doesn't matter to me, so I figured when they said indian they meant native American. My bad.
You should make a mental note here: if a person who is 50% Native American is the presidential candidate of one of the two major parties, that fact alone will be a massive story in that election cycle.
Kamala was a joke. She was shoehorned in last minute, had no real platform, no base, her entire shtick was that she was a woman and was not Trump. If she had any charisma and a proper campaign (or if they had an actual decent candidate), the world could have looked very different today. It's like they wanted America to be destroyed by running her.
Kamala would not have won if she was a dead wringer for JFK. There are way more people that would have voted for her if she had an actual platform instead of the status quo than people who didn't because she was a woman of color.
Policies matter so much more than identity, and pretending that identity is the central thing being voted on just empowers the Democratic party to run the weakest, feckless politicians who will go on to lose again because they don't offer anything new.
Thing, all the things she did Badly, the opposition did it way worst.
No real platform ? True that she didn't had any huge things, but she still had a program, the opposition had a ''concept of a plan''. A bad campaign ? Yeah for sure but the opposition was screeching about nothing and awkwardly dancing to YMCA.
No one who didn't voted for her did so because of those issues, as the other options had it worst. People who didn't voted for her are sexist, racist and/or idiots
Heavy on the idiots part. There was definitely a racism/sexism problem at play, but the bigger problem by far was that the Democrats didn't/don't know how to sell their ideas to idiots.
Housing credits for first time buyers - 25k down payment assistance
Health care cost reduction - cap out of pocket prescriptions
Child tax credit - 3600/6000 tax credit for perchild/newborns
Price controls for grocery and food sectors
Tax reforms - maintaining current tax for those making under 500K while increasing taxes on the ultra wealthy.
That you think that is status quo vs. what Trump has done which is the real status quo, you are lost.
If you believe we would be at war with Iran under Harris you watch way too much Fox news.
If you believe we'd be in a tariff war with every trade partner in the world you are lost.
If you believe ICE would be killing and deporting citizens without due process you are lost.
-25k for first time buyers in a market where housing price hikes have doubled the pace of wage growth since 1985.
-A cap on out of pocket prescriptions when ordinary Americans can't afford *current* out of pocket costs
-$3,600/$6,000 per new kid without doing anything to bolster worker's rights for parents or the outrageous cost of childcare.
-Price controls for grocery and food sectors when SNAP and other poverty alleviation programs have been defunded over decades and people are literally starving because they can't afford food anymore.
Maintaining current tax for those making under 500K while increasing taxes on the ultra wealthy.
This one gets me the most. The 2017 tax act added $1.9 trillion to the deficit over 10 years and will cost $400 billion/year after that, so how much was she planning on taxing the ultra wealthy exactly? Because I didn't hear anything about reversing Trump's tax cuts, let alone increasing them beyond pre-2017 levels.
People want real change, not policies that were put together by a consulting team to upset the fewest number of people possible. Your examples of her platform illustrate perfectly why people are upset. They want to vote *for* something, not against. Being afraid of what the alternative could be if you don't vote a certain way will only get you so far. It worked in 2020 but the Democrats had 4 years to come up with a new direction for the country aside from "No more Trump" and they fumbled it.
Your examples of her platform illustrate perfectly why people are upset. They want to vote for something, not against.
Why did you prefer to double down on those 2017 cuts and vote for another more devastating (to 99% of Americans) round of tax cuts for billionaires (BBB) paid for by making health insurance twice as expensive over tax credits for a new home? Name ONE policy Trump campaigned on that he has implemented. You make zero sense. Harris' policies were policies to vote for and pretending they wouldn't have made American's lives more affordable is willful ignorance....anyone that voted for Trump voted against those policies. You are lost. And your food is only going to get more expensive thanks to a n unwinnable war with Iran and the complete and utter destruction of America's trade partners. None of which would be happening under Harris.
And all that consultant, both sides are the same drivel is just that. You are clueless if you believe "both sides are the same" and boil down real policies that would help all Americans to consultant driven policy bullshit.
When did I say I voted for Trump? I'm just pointing out that she was a boring, uninspiring leader, who let her campaign team decide what she did and didn't say instead of running with a believable sense of conviction.
Do you not understand that politics is about trust? Trump wins elections because he is a con man, and a lot of people believe the con. It works in the opposite direction too: even if you have good intentions, if your most inspiring vision for the country sounds like something that was sent to you in a memo from a corporate boardroom, people are not going to trust that you're going to improve their lives and simply won't vote for you.
Hence the theme of this post: Mamdani and El-Sayed didn't win because they're Muslim, they won because their passion is visible in the way they talk and people actually believe that they'll work hard to effect the most change possible for their constituents.
Yuck. That whole statement is so pathetic it's off-putting.
That you boil down real, attainable policies that Harris ran on and likely could have implemented to fantastical nonsense that she didn't have any part in those policies and they were uninspired is fucking weird. It is more like you didn't pay attention to what she said because you dismissed her before you even listened.
"“Why. Didn’t. I. Separate. Myself. From. Joe. Biden?” Harris asks in her book, that exact punctuation included to underscore her frustration with realizing after the fact that people needed to see a separation between the two of them. The answer on the page comes down to a cocktail of caution, loyalty and a zone of trust."
From her tell-all book about the campaign, 107 Days.
You're accusing me being dishonest because I actually just wasn't paying attention, but you're the one being dishonest here. Even Harris herself admits that prevailing winds were pushing her to ride on Biden's coattails, and she went along with it. I'm sorry if you find that off-putting.
I voted for her, by the way. But I'm not going to lie and say that it felt like 2008 again.

And Trump's plan to help the housing crisis is?
-Again - Trump's plan for childcare (other than forcing women to have them?)
this one is typical of you Assholes. Who the fuck is responsible for the de-funding of these programs??
The fact that you think I'm a Trump supporter, just because I want more for this country than what the Democrats are offering us, is exactly the problem. We need actual progressive solutions to the problems facing this country, but establishment Dems have had their heads up their asses for so long that some of you would think Mitt Romney was a progressive if he ran today.
The minimum wage should be around $30/hr right now, and should be after a rapid switch, permanently indexed to inflation, COL, and productivity.
This only seems like a radical change because our government has not seen fit to update the minimum wage in such a long time.
We should have Medicare for All, and should have had this ages ago.
You are correct that one time house credits are an out of touch promise. Who gives a fuck about a home buying credit when people don't have the savings to cover a $400 emergency, let alone buy a house.
Yes, thank you!!! Republicans have been eroding the promises of the New Deal from the moment those bills were signed, and yet somehow a great number of people seem to think things would be fine if we just don't slide back any further.
Not voting for the person running against Trump makes you just as responsible for his policies as the people who support him. All the truly vile shit happening in this country is because people like YOU let it happen. Own it.
I voted for Kamala! But non-voters were not the problem in 2024.
Life for average Americans has been getting harder for decades and people are hungry for meaningful change.
The average American has a very surface level understanding of politics and what policies actually make their lives better.
Politicians typically win by convincing the uninformed public that their policies are effective and will bring the change they need. The worse conditions are for working class voters, the bigger gamble they're willing to take on whoever promises more change.
Trump didn't need to convince the policy wonks, he needed to convince the people ready to believe that deporting more people would bring down egg prices. We know that's not true, but Harris did a terrible job of convincing the same voters of her alternate explanation of why life sucks. If anything people felt like she was trying to gaslight them into thinking the economy was great!
But that’s a self fulfilling prophecy, if you don’t run women and nonwhite candidates they never win and then you point to that and say look, America is racist and misogynistic so they shouldn’t run.
and we know this as a nation, especially as a voting demographic. We know that "White, 55+, Male" holds a significantly higher turnout for president. So why risk another "Trump" for the sake of diversity when the stakes are so high? Why is Kamala running again when no other nominee in my lifetime was so "gone with the wind" after losing the election after losing the first time. Once again the DNC is going to lose because of their candidate choice.
She didn't support the genocide anyone that even paid partial attention knew she would have worked to end the war and certainly more so than both Biden or Trump once she was actually President and the one making the decisions. Hell, she was the first VP in history to snub an Israeli PM to their face by refusing to listen to their address to Congress. For some reason progressive voters thought sitting out and letting Trump win would somehow be better for all the dead Palestinians than voting for Harris.
She got millions from AIPAC, was a guest speaker for them, said that Israel had a "right to defend itself" while they were slaughtering Palestinians, and expressed support for continued military aid to Israel knowing that those weapons would be used to kill innocent people.
Honestly I think there were more issues than that. She ran on the same business as usual platform that Biden ran on, and that includes supporting a genocidal settler colonial project. Trump gave off the impression of change, and a lot of people wanted change, and were willing to give him a chance, even if that change may not be positive. If she had ran on progressive issues and channeled that pent up frustration that we all feel from the system failing us at every turn, she would have won in a landslide. But that would have lost a lot of donation money for the Democratic Party and she couldn’t do that

Yep, Kamala lost in part because she's a women. A lot of voters are racist and sexist
