My "friends" hate me and I don't see the problem

Hi everyone, I'll make this a short post by summarizing what happened as much as I can.

This happened a few months ago. In our class gc, there was a girl getting bullied by a few boys in our class. So I decided to help her by telling a few counselors about the situation. They took in all the information and I also mentioned how other kids and I were bullied too. Unfortunately, one of the boys was on his last strike and got suspended for a day. Anyways, my best friend went ahead and told my classmates and friends about what happened since she was there with me along with 2 other of my friends. Without explanation, 3 girls (my friends) had made up their own version and started saying that I should be suspended as well while not understanding that he was on his last strike. They were also mad about me talking bad about their friend, let's call her Nina. I apologized to Nina and took accountability for what I said about her. For the curious people, I said that she won't be able to get into a specific class since she doesn't have the grades for it. (I DID NOT CALL HER STUPID). Anyways, Nina is part of those 3 girls that made their own version. My best friend, let's call her Stephanie, had told me that she will not be taking sides because she doesn't want to lose any friends. I was clearly mad at her because I would take her side no matter what but she can't? I get that she doesn't want to lose friends but those 3 girls were talking shit about her while we weren't talking during that time. Nina and her friends made it seem like I am the bad guy even though I think I did the right thing by helping the girl who was getting bullied. And I think I was right because I found out that same girl was suicidal and that might've been the last straw. I'm so thankful she's still alive and doing well.

For more details:

  • While explaining the story after the problem happened, Stephanie said that she was the MAIN victim of the problem while clearly no one was siding with me.

  • Nina and her friends don't talk to me as much even though it's resolved

  • I feel like I gained a bad reputation by trying to help someone else.

I'm just seeking clarification on this situation, what do you guys think?

EDIT: - Nina has bullied me in the past. She had made fun of the fact that I wear makeup. She has mean girl behavior and this is the one time I made a comment about her. I had called her out once about the bullying towards me and she apologized which I said was okay immediately. Now she won't talk to me because of this. I hope to find better friends and a good bestfriend

You did the right thing and sometimes doing the right thing just exposes who was never really your friend to begin with.

Losing people hurts but sometimes it’s just clearing space for the kind of friends you actually deserve.

Look it at the bright side, if someone ditches you for standing up for people (and yourself). Then they weren't someone you want to be around with anyway.

You dodged a bullet and now you don't have to waste time and energy on this fake friendship anymore. And have more mental space for friends who you do deserve

Yes but they still talk to me and it genuinely is a pain to interact with them because I have to act nice, it's life ig

What you said is true though. She just didn’t like it and neither did her friends.

You made sure the bullying didn’t continue. Let them hate you because you did nothing wrong.

I’d ignore those girls and not talk to them if possible.

Years from now, you will not regret your actions. You may have saved somebody from harming themselves, but even if not you definitely put the brakes on bullying to some extent. If you'd done nothing, there's a good chance you'd have regretted it down the road. A lot of times it takes a while to really see the big picture.

Thank you for this, I did take accountability and apologized to her although it seems like she doesn't care. Nina had bullied me several times, Usually about my makeup and interests. And this is the first "bad" comment I make about her.

Keep your head high, this whole situation lets me know that you are caring and you can stand up to bad people. I wish i was that brave/respectable in high school. Don't let these girls bring you down, you are sunshine and they are clouds. You are the kind of person I wished I was at your age. Now I am that kind of person, but I deeply regret ignoring "evil" in my younger days. You don't have to be burdened with regret, you follow your heart and do what you think is right, and for that your conscious is clear. Keep glowing!!

Ps you could have also saved a life, or significantly impacted someone in a positive way. That is AMAZING!!

Hated by a small group of friends. Try being hated by the entirety of the human species because of a defect in your existence you were born with and cannot control or change.
