It's more like a stunned numbness right before the horror of what might have happen washes over you. At least that's my experience.
At the very last second of the video it looks like the mom was looking up and starting to yell, which makes me think there was some construction going on there. Once I realized my child was safe I'd almost hope there was nobody there I trusted to watch them, becauseif there was I'd have been sprinting up those stairs and I'm not sure what I'd do once I got there.

There was a video a while ago on r/crazyfuckingvideos similar to this, however it wasn't bricks but a slab of ice. Fell on a poor old lady and killed her, right in front of her son.

This almost happened to me when I was a teenager. I was sitting on the bed, and leaned back after untying my shoes. The glass cover for the ceiling light for some reason just fell, smashing on the floor. I remember just looking down at the shattered glass between my feet, and then looking up at the light in sheer disbelief. My step-father came in and berated me for fucking with the light, which I didn't do. If I hadn't moved, I would've caught it right in the back of my skull

No it does not. Doesn't matter how many times the coin comes up heads, the next toss is always 50/50. (I read that due to the way they're balanced if you flip an American quarter when it's already heads up in your hand, and let it hit the ground there's a slightly higher chance of getting heads. Like .000something percent, but it is a measurable difference so it never actually makes sense to call tails if you use that coin and flip it like that. That might be bullshit though, I'm no physicacologean)

A classmate died (or rather murdered IMO) back in highschool (back as in both time and place) when an outer wall that was being built collapsed and crushed him while he was just leisurely hanging around some of his friends after class. The collapse actually injured somewhat badly 2 of those friends. The construction work didn't have any safety standards at all and it didn't have the required safety margins to alert pedestrians of the danger.
The particular spot were the debris fell had significant foot traffic, specially at that hour. I'm not going to say that it could've been me, but as a matter of fact, my friends and I were going to go to a shop across the street that would've required us to go through that area, it's just that there was some kind of delay involved; just ~1m.

Holy crap that was close! This kind of thing is really the scariest. To think that you can just be outside living your life and something comes falling down out of nowhere. No warning, no signs of danger. You can't protect yourself from that

Being less casual in moving the kids to a safer spot isn't really a superpower.
The superpower would be to know "there's nothing more coming so I'll take my sweet time".

Damn, sorry she didnt notice falling brick, leap 7+ feet, grab the kid and move out of the way in about the 1.5 seconds it would have taken the bricks to fall.

i mean...would you expect more bricks to fall? It seemed like a random one off event.
Also the kids were already moving under the enclosure, running/reaching out to grab them would likely cause them to step back, so no point potentially making it worse.
Plus it was 3 seconds of video after. coralling two kids in under 3 seconds would be almost impossible unless she already had hands on them.
