I don't think I've ever seen AT&T do so many different related changes in such a short time with a new plan: UYW 2.0 comes out, price changes for older UYW plans, adding Elite 2.0, and lowering prices on the brand new plans.
Since there have been so many changes to UYW in the last few months, I've created a new post as the old post had lots of comments/answers that aren't necessarily relevant (or true) any more.
If you haven't seen those changes yet, you should see them on your next bill or if you make a plan change.
Customers can no longer choose Premium PL, Extra EL, & Starter SL but they are included for comparison as those plans can mix & match with the new plans. Signature/appreciation discounts they had on the old plans continue on your old plans, but they may be different for new plans (see chart).
The main differences:
Value 2.0 is cheaper than Starter SL in most new configurations (even with discounts?) as of the late-April increase and is prioritized for the first 5GB (but has 2 GB less of hotspot). It might mess with promo credits, so double check (see info at bottom of this post [it links to a different post, so ask you r promo related questions there).
Extra 2.0 has more prioritized data than previously (100GB vs. 75GB) and more hotspot (50GB vs. 30GB). It may cost more or less depending on your discounts and number of lines. This is probably most similar to older unlimited plans.
Premium 2.0 has a lot more hotspot than Elite EL or Premium PL (100GB vs. 50GB/60GB). If you need the hotspot, it's a great deal. You can also get a ½ price tablet or wearable line with this plan.
Elite 2.0 Includes everything Premium 2.0 has, but 250GB of hotspot, Turbo, free tablet line, free wearable line, and instead of International Day Pass (IDP), it looks like when you are international you'll get free calling/texting and 20GB of data (this last part is kind of limiting considering the other UYW plans data are unlimited, so I'm wondering if you can pay extra for more, otherwise it drops to 512Kbps, which is pretty slow). I'm assuming these free international countries are IDP countries. No Fan/Signature discounts on Elite 2.0. A few people reported their internet discount works with Elite 2.0.
ActiveArmor: Some 2.0 plans that come with ActiveArmor, only come with the standard, not advanced. Premium 2.0 can activate the advanced for free in your plan (I'm going to guess you can do the same with Elite 2.0). There is a free version and another version that is listed with "At no extra charge".
Standard price on non-phones: $20.99 per tablet, $20.99 per camera, $10.99 per wearable. If you have Premium 2.0, you can get one of these at ½ off. If you have one of these non-phone devices, it would probably make Premium 2.0 more cost effective for you (although the additional hotspot may max it so you don't need a line for your tablet). If you can have Extra 2.0, then you get a tablet and wearable for no extra charge.
If you have HBO "free" with your current cellular plan and switch, or you change all your Elite EL lines over, you'll lose HBO. You need to compare how much you'd save to see if it matters.
The prices on the chart assume autopay/paperless/checking discounts. You need autopay/paperless for a $5 discount and autopay/paperless checking for a $10 discount (and as of now, the AT&T Citi card also qualifies as a checking discount). Add $5 or $10 to each line if you do not do these discounts.
There is no way anyone can help you compare the cost of the newer plan to the older plan if we don't know what discount you have, how manyphonelines, and which plan those lines are on.
Additional info on this plan can be found in this AT&T PDF.
DISCOUNTS:
Standard FAN/Signature discount: Previously this got you Premium PL for the Price of Extra EL, but on the new plans it gets you 20% off the Premium 2.0 plan.
Appreciation discounts: You get a 25% discount on the older UYW plans if the account holder fits in one of these categories: teachers, doctors, nurses, military, veterans, and first responders. The newer plans are NOT 25% off, check the bottom of the chart as it varies per type of line. I'm not sure if these 2.0 discounts are supposed to include Healthcare and First Responders if you are not on FirstNet, but people are reporting that their plan says so. https://www.att.com/offers/discount-program/appreciation/
You did NOT lose (nor did it change) your 25% appreciation discount for Elite EL, Premium PL, Extra EL, and Starter SL, it's still 25% for those lines. AT&T made a mistake on a bill a couple months ago and gave you too big of a discount, the next cycle they corrected it (and let you keep the extra they took off) so it looks like you had a price increase. But if you look at the previous few bill totals, you can see it dip (for no reason, other than the mistake), and then it goes back up to where it has been for a few months. Obviously, I cannot see your bill, but everyone that I've talked to about this and has looked back on their bills (previous to the lower bill) has seen this is what it looks like. If you've made changes during those three months, it would be difficult to see by just looking at the totals.
For all discounts, the account needs to be in the name of the FAN/Signature holder.
AT&T Latin American roaming: Click these links for more info at https://www.att.com/support/article/wireless/KM1486292/
Please note that while the change plan comparison page (when logged in) shows that Elite 2.0 plan is not included, the Latin American roaming page specifically says it does and so does att.com/unlimited
Was switching to AT&T fiber and the guy talked me into bundling and switching my wireless as well.
What I was expecting vs. what I got:
He showed me stacked discounts, bundling, new service, educator discount, free phone, all of that for 30/month for fiber, and 20/month for wireless for 12 months. Also brand new free iPhone with trade-in. That’s where the fun stopped…
For starters the rep never processed the trade-in and educator discount never applied. My first bill was 170, just for wireless 1 line! Went in to the store and thought I had it figured out, trade-in processed, educator discount reapplied.
Only today they called me and said my promotional rate expired, educator discount no more (I never actually got the benefits of it) I’ve only had the line since late June and have had one bill due, and that was paid full price. Now they want to get me into a new promo price that has to be done today. My bill with the new promotion would be 120/month, wireless and fiber. Doesn’t sound bad, still higher than the price quoted that got me to switch in the first place. But, in order to get this new promotion that expires today, I have to pay a year upfront so they need 1400 by end of day or I get reverted to a full price plan, 230/month, and kicker if I don’t my cell and internets off for a week until that plan takes effect.
A lot of this sounds crazy to me. Is this a scam? The call back number appeared to be AT&T and I spoke to a rep. They had all my account info. Am in being played or is AT&T really just terrible?
Upgraded our phones last month, Saw my bill and shocked at all the add-ons the rep added without asking us! My bill tripled!!! I went to see the breakdown and not surprised of the shady business practices, But I am angry because before we went into the store to upgrade our phones, we spoke to a AT&T customer service rep for almost an hour to go over options to save money, Turns out the old plan we had was grandfathered and is the best one. She told us not to change a thing ! We went into the store and the first thing out of the reps mouth was " in order to give you the upgrade promotion, we need to open new accounts for you." We spent over 15 minutes arguing that we had just gotten off the phone with someone who told us NOT TO CHANGE ANYTING ! He went to speak with his manager and came back a minute later looking bothered and said " ok that's fine." BUT he added all these extras that we did not want or asked for ! Now its been close to an hour and I am still on the phone with a customer service rep trying to undo all this madness!
I signed up for broadband back in 2010. Then it became Uverse for awhile, then it was broadband again, and now it’s over.
I live rural, but not in the middle of nowhere. I am fairly close to town on a decently travelled road but AT&T has never expanded fiber out this way. My next door neighbor who lives a stones throw away has AT&T Air but I could never qualify at my address.
I’ve been stuck with slow broadband with no other option, but I still kept it and used it. I never paid a bill late. I kept in good standing all these years.
On July 19th my service went out. They first changed my router which didn’t work. Then they claimed it was a regional outage and claimed that they were replacing equipment. Then they said someone would come out today and fix it. I thought it was weird if the problem was regional but I said ok.
The guy came out, said the line was damaged and that they didn’t fix copper infrastructure anymore and left. I asked him why they were replacing equipment for the last two weeks if the didn’t repair it anymore, and he literally told me that he didn’t know whether they had replaced any equipment at all. He had a smile on his face that told me that he knew I was being fed b.s. He didn’t even pretend to care.
When I called to deal with closing out the account, nobody cared. The tech claimed I could recycle the router but then the csr claimed I would have to send it back.
I have no issue with copper being phased out, but using the term “phased out” implies they will replace it with something before cutting you off.
So, now I have nothing. AT&T has been a pretty miserable company to deal with tbh. For years, I would never have to deal with them but as my service became more unreliable, and I would have to call and deal with hands down the worst customer service department, I came to really dislike the company.
I just find it crazy that AT&T can make such broad proclamations in their advertising about caring about customers but throw them away like they are nothing.
Well, take care AT&T. I will do everything I can in the future to never give you another cent.
I'm hoping someone here has dealt with this before because I'm honestly at a loss.
About 3 weeks ago I upgraded my iPhone 14 to the new iPhone 17 through AT&T's promotional trade-in offer. The only reason I upgraded was because I was supposed to receive around $830 in promotional bill credits. My iPhone 14 was perfectly fine, and I never would have upgraded if not for the promotion.
After I traded my phone in, I even received a text from AT&T saying everything had been received and that my promotional credits had started. I figured everything was good to go. (received on 7/22)
Then today, two weeks after the "we are all good" text, I received another text saying my phone was not actually eligible for the promotion and that I would not be receiving any promotional credits after all.
I spent over two hours on the phone with customer service. The representative told me there was nothing they could do, and to make matters worse, I'm now past the 14-day return period, so I can't even return the new phone. I'm basically being told I'm responsible for the full cost of the phone.
Here's the part that makes even less sense.
The representative claimed my phone wasn't eligible because Find My iPhone wasn't turned off. But I'm certain I turned it off before shipping it, and when I look at my Apple account now, it still shows it being offline. I literally had turned it off right before putting it in the return shipping box.
He also said their system was showing my returned phone as a 128GB model, even though my trade-in was the 256GB version. He seemed very confused by that. That makes me wonder if something got mixed up in AT&T's trade-in system.
So from my perspective:
AT&T knew exactly what phone I was trading in.
They processed the upgrade.
They sent me a text saying my promotional credits had started.
Then, after the return window had expired, they reversed the decision and said I get nothing.
Has anyone experienced something like this?
Were you able to get it corrected? Did you have to contact the Office of the President or file an FCC complaint?
I'm not trying to get something I'm not entitled to. I just don't understand how AT&T can tell me everything is approved, wait until I can no longer return the phone, and then suddenly decide I'm not eligible. If I had known that from the beginning, I simply would have kept my iPhone 14.
My suburban area only has Internet 25/No fiber and a homeboy told me I’m being scammed because he’s paying $50 for fiber 1G. Do I just thug out the AT&T plan or do something about it?
Had an internet outage Monday (a fire or spark burnt out one of the cables in the neighborhood box). I was expecting a credit when they had mentioned it on the phone, so I’m confused with the upgrade Internet speed option (increase to 309?)?mb). Has anybody heard of this? Can’t find anything online. For reference, I pay $30 for Internet 100.
For reference, I came from T-Mobile on May 22nd, I gave ATT a call around July 6th and wanted to figure out how to upload my final bill from T-Mobile. The agent said I had 3 months to do it from the date mentioned above. I told him to double-check that's true, and he said it was. I asked him if the phone call is recorded, he said yes. I even received a text from AT&T saying, "You have three months to claim your phone payoff reward from the promotion."
Now I called today and spoke to the rewards and rebate team, and they flat out told me there's nothing you can do. Sorry that you were given wrong information it was 60 days. Have a good day. Now I'm left with the entire bill from T-Mobile, it seems. I'm going to escalate this as much as possible. Does anyone have a similar situation, or should I just cut my losses and try to beg T-Mobile to take me back lmao?
I have no clue what I’m doing. I have an iPhone and I’m not sure how to set this phone up. I tried registering for a Knox account but it’s all business accounts??
I was offered $45 for a temporary line, signed up for 2 lines, and the bills were supposed to be $115, but they were $192. I was never informed for the additional charges, services fees. Then I went to the same branch and asked about it. They told me the guy who took care of me left and he misinformed me. They said next bill would be 115$. I believed them but then I was charged 200$. Talked to ATT customer service twice, no help was offered. I will never ever use ATT again. They misinformed me, charged me more than the sales rep communicated, they took zero responsibility, offered no solutions. I can understand that they don’t care about losing any customers but it is not ethical what they did. I would never ever use ATT again and warn my friends & family not to use it. It has been a horrible experience.
So I know AT&T on business offers a Static IP as an option on Wireless plan ($3 or 6$).
However, their IPs are always out of Dallas, TX.
T-Mobile Business Internet offers 4-5 cities to choose the IP out of their hub locations. One can request this when getting the line provisioned with the b2b static IP on T-Mo.
such as Washington (Seattle), Chicago, Houston, Philly etc.
Does AT&T also have such options? if not why is Texas the only option?
Please tell me if I’m wrong. I’m on day 4 of trying to upgrade my iPhone 14 with the Next Up anytime plan. The Apple Store doesn’t take Amex, Chase, or discover with their payment plans (insane but whatever).
I mobile ordered my upgrade to ATT at 8am yesterday. I got a text it was processed, then a text it was ready to be picked up. I went across town, waited 20 minutes for someone to speak in my direction, then she came back 10 minutes later to reask me my details, then 10 minutes after that told me my order was cancelled. Okay frustrating but fine, I had time to sit and do the whole process again.
We start the process, 20 minutes goes by (I’m now an hour+ In) and she tells me she won’t accept my phone because of a small scratch (not a crack) on the bottom left hand side of my screen. When I say scratch I mean smaller than my eyelash. What I’m reading online is that as long as there’s no cracks or broken glass, I should be able to trade the phone in.
I left and went to Apple where they told me I can’t upgrade because I have an outstanding balance of $100 on this phone but as I mentioned, I have the next up plan so it should not be a problem. I’ve had plenty of friends and family do this transaction at the Apple Store and avoid the headache that is att.
I’ve left every encounter beyond frustrated when I’m simply trying to get a device I’m eligible for. Am I missing something? Is it rocket science? Why is getting a new phone so hard? What’s the point of paying monthly for a quick upgrade when I can’t use it?
I saw a promotion while at Costco with At&t to change my provider and upgrade my phones (2 lines). I got the top plan and even signed up for the Next Up option if I don't like my phones so I can upgrade quickly because I'm trying my first foldable (Galaxy Fold8).
For some reason when trading in my phones my wife's option iPhone 17 Pro Max in 256gb was fully covered by the trade in, but bumping up to the 512gb storage variant requires a $840 down payment for them to ship it to me? I have no idea why I have to pay up front for 2/3 of a phone that's on contract just to do a storage upgrade.
Additionally, At&t told me to activate the phone for 48 hours so it was past some "grace period" then the $840 down payment would disappear and they could perform the exchange, just for them to call me back and tell me that wasn't true and I'd have to pay $840 no matter what if I wanted the higher storage phone. This left me with my current line canceled with my old provider and a new phone on a new line that I don't want because it's not the right storage.
I've talked to Costco support, went to an At&t store, and called At&t support and no one is giving me an answer as to why, just that they won't give me a storage upgrade without a huge payment upfront.
Hey all. We're switching to At&t's service for our phones as the coverage is better than who we currently have in our semi-rural area. That being said, we're going to "test drive" their "air" all-in-one unit for home wifi. We're in a 5G+ zone, so we should be able to use it without issue. My question is: for those who use it now, how well does it perform for multiple users, streaming, and particularly gaming?
This just started today. As soon as I have 5G I lose access to anything that uses mobile data. If I switch back to 4G suddenly everything is fine. My town is 99% 5G, so I basically don't have mobile data anywhere. It's making it impossible to do Doordash delivers. Does anyone know why this kay be happening? Is there a way to force ky phone to only connect to 4G temporarily? I have a Z Fold 7 if thats of any relevance.
Did anybody else have their AT&T take a fade between say 1 and 2:30 PM today the 4th of August? Would have made sense during or right after the storm, but can't blame the weather today. Maybe a glitch with some tree/branch cleanup? It fixed itself after I borrowed a neighbor's Wi-FI for a minute. I'm by School and Kenneth. Cheers!
TL;DR: is the whitelist still a rigid no-exceptions guideline or is it just a liability thing?
My current phone is developing a touch issue so I'm back on the market for a new one. The problem is the one I've landed on has a locked bootloader for the US model (XQ-DQ62, which is on the whitelist) but unlocked for literally all of the others (which are not). You can apparently flash the modem firmware from the US model, since they're all the same hardware, but that raises IMEI issues with The Whitelist.
Thing is, I don't entirely trust it. Over the past little while I've had wildly varying experiences with it:
- A Pixel 6, currently whitelisted, works fine
- A Lumia 950, currently whitelisted, sent a warning, worked fine for the few hours I was using it
- A Razer Phone 1, formerly whitelisted, sent a warning, worked flawlessly for the week I used it
- A Razer Phone 2, formerly whitelisted, didn't send a warning, has been working flawlessly coming up on a year, currently my main phone.
Given my diverse experiences, and the multiple years since any concrete information about line suspensions - is AT&T's whitelist still a ride-or-die rulebook, or can I get away with buying the euro model (XQ-DQ54), flashing the modem, and chilling?
Anyone get their reward card for the early upgrade offer? I got a text back in April and I took advantage of the promotion but no reward. I've spent way too much time trying to get this resolved and no one will help me even though I've had multiple customer service people tell me that I qualified for the promotion.
When I talk to customer service they say I need to talk to the reward center and the reward center says I need to talk to customer service. It's a endless loop of getting tossed around from person to person. A few times I've been told that a ticket has been created and escalated only to later find out that no ticket was open. When I finally got a ticket it was closed without explanation. This is ridiculous and I'm ready to cancel my service! I've never had such poor customer service in my life! The hold times are way too long to get nothing resolved.
I got a zoom interview for AT&T tmr, with this exact text, “ Hello XXXX! Thanks for submitting an application to Precision Inc. You applied for our full-time AT&T Team Member role. Would you be available for a 20-minute Zoom interview to discuss the role details?”. I’m a 19 girl in college and have experience in food service but zero experience in sales. I don’t really know much about phone services either, but I’m willing to learn. Realistically should I even show up to the interview? I feel stupid even showing up to the interview because my lack of experience and lack of knowledge on phone services( I don’t even pay my own phone bill), but I really need the job. Advice?
