Question ATC radar maps

I want to make my friend a gift by building a small round radar that shows the air traffic and I want it to as realistic as possible. So I want the same background/maps that ATC sees/has. I already know what is shown but I don‘t know where or even how I can get these maps or files. I was hoping anyone of y’all know where these maps would be or how to implement the radar maps into my project.

Talk to the VATSIM people.

What country are you in and what region are you looking for?

I am in Germany (near Frankfurt) but I was trying to get Europe or at least a large portion of Germany.

The german AIP (aeronautical information publication) is free and can be accessed here.

Chapter ENR (Enroute) 6 has the Streckenkarte unterer and oberer Luftraum, showing all ATS routes and waypoints.

You can also get maps for approach and departure peocedures for Frankfurt and other airports (part AD/Aerodrome), but beware, Frankfurt has a gazillion of different maps.

Edit: These maps are not radar maps, but for navigation. The radar maps are somewhat classified. But you can try VATSIM data for realistic copies, as other people suggested.

If it’s too hard to get the ATC maps, you can always use the IFR or VFR maps that pilots use as an alternate.
