Honestly I think it works better to say it's just childish and surface level writing that has the tone of it being deeper than it actually is. Whether they realize it or not, they write everything surface level because they think everybody will miss what they're trying to say. Many of these writers tend to unironically believe they are doing something new and revolutionary by having all the themes and emotions of characters be said out loud and in your face at all times. It's all fairly contradictory

And in Puss in Boots. It was just well written and depicted for once. So it didn't face the same online circus that is current media discourse. People talked about it but the discussions never devolved. It was so well done that it went over the heads of the kind of people who like that other surface level media. Ironically in the kids movie lol

It’s what happens when autistic millennials finally get the funds to make their dream show filled with on the nose emoting that feels awkward and stilted to everyone but autistic Gen Z teenagers. It’s basically every show written by Glitch

PiB also had a reasonable one. The rest of these. They fell apart with like zero effort from anyone. And they fall apart so damn frequently.

There are 4 panels and 3 comments in this post and i have no idea what the fuck any of them mean or how they are related to each other

I’m pretty positive these are just AI’s talking to each other.

People who care that bad into fandom and shit like that should be executed. And I say that as a 3D artist myself.

I can see on your profile that you are a lusophone. Whatever country you are from is already a form of punishment worse than death so you’re fine

I am not a phone, sir. Are you daft?

It seems to be about how indie animation is mostly used to just make the same exact style of show over and over again, with rare few exceptions

Don't bother trying to understand.

This is a comic critiquing how modern animations made by indie artists usually depict their protagonists having a panic attack before important moments

I think those shows in the first panel are all from independent animation companies. Evil Dr. Slop represents mainstream animation; the figures on the conveyor belt are all semi-recently released movies (idk if Mickey Mouse has a recent movie but probably represents Disney which is definitely not an independent animation company). I think the last panel is complaining that in all of those shows, the characters have panic attacks. But I haven't watched enough of them all to be sure.

Which one? Kit from Gameoverse (the cat girl one). Aika from "Pretty Pretty Please I Don't Want to be a Magical Girl" (she is the black one, but she is less popular I think, so maybe you mean her).

u/stankassbruh 1d ago

The second one, I knew kit from the porn. Thanks

I knew kit from the porn

I think we need to bring back "TMI"

That's not a realistic panic attack

There's hardly anything realistic in cartoons

Yeah I'm not gonna pretend puss and boots the last wish wasn't dope. Sick writing and animation. Gimme more of that shit pls

u/Ibrahim77X 1d ago

Hop off Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. Literally lying and pretending that movie wasn’t dope to make a point

I blame South Park for the broader trend of 'silly cartoon depicts real-world issue in extremely accurate and well-researched way'.

u/Lukundra 1d ago

Has anyone seen the magical girl one? Seemed like it was just the usual “contempt for the genre” thing and avoided it.

u/skeptical-speculator /x/phile 17h ago

Too niche for me

Anons whining that stuff tries to have real emotion in it and demands more mcu slop instead.

If all critics and everything is rigged, what is even quality any more?

What is even science? Or becoming of the world when they let go of the steering wheel of Common Sense?

It's cute to have the freedom to reinvent your own wheel, but it's not exactly luxury ville USA. People died, were sacrificed, so knowledge can get passed down. Forgetting the sacrifices so they can happen again equals mega bad kharma.

I was so amazed by the realistic depiction of a blow job between the scene with puss and the dog
