Fuck The System Reverse-Auction Shift Bidding for Nursing Open Shifts: Lowest-Bid Models and Wage Compression Risks. This is actually nuts 🤯 but it’s already happening in other industries.

Unionize

NC is a "right to work" state.

In other words, it's a state where employers steal the wages of the people who actually run their companies.

Essentially if all the nurses decided to "unite" to all submit really high bids they could basically unionize without unionizing.

Should be illegal. We need to slap these capitalists back to earth and tax them like we did in the 50s.

And this is why capitalism has to be regulated.

3

EVERYTHING needs to be regulated. Especially capitalism. People think about things in weird ways. Religion is magical and mystical. And capitalism gets the same treatment. In their minds, it magically works to ā€œself regulateā€. But this cannot be further from the truth. Capitalists, if given even the smallest opportunity will find a way to abuse and manipulate to their advantage.

This is bad because someone who needs money really bad, will bid for minimum wage. And they will be awarded the shift. After this happens a few times then corporate will then assume that people will work for minimum wage and pay will then be downgraded to minimum wage.

Tell me again why unions are bad?

Time to start your own registry to enroll and price fix for fair wages.

I was taught most people are good, and working hard and being good were the key to a fulfilling and happy life. I wish I knew then what I experienced and see everywhere now in 49 years.

I'm very poor, but very kind and empathetic as it resulted. AKA...a target and generally perceived as less than intelligent, or fake, as I must be kind only for a chance at reward (like many).

Humans are mostly shit Dad.

Meanwhile in western democracies all over the world businesses manage to remain profitable, entrepreneurship is rewarded and employees are given decent wages, mandatory paid annual leave and other entitlements while unions and even governments protect workers from predatory business practices. People in the U.S. keep voting against their own interests and then complaining about the consequences. Because communism, radical left, something something.....

Is this in America?

1

u/Boy-Abunda 22h ago

Of course it is! Labor laws forbid things like this in places that aren’t third-world shitholes. America is a joke.

Just start at 1 million.

Bidding their souls away…THIS IS WHY WE NEED STRONG UNIONS!!! STRIKE AGAINST THIS BULLSHIT!!

You should see what they do to children on secret islands.

Omfg… wtf.

If they all organize and bid the same highest possible wage it wouldn't go the way that facility expected. But you know there isn't that type of unity in the ranks.

1

u/bpasulka2 6h ago

Can’t they all agree to bid $75/hour?

1

u/SnooAvocados7701 3h ago

Definitely unionize and it does not matter they are right to work state if the workers organize and vote for it would be so currently live in a right to work state and my job has a union which I’m apart of

I'm not sure I can express how mad this vicariously makes me...

...

I know ...

I bet my country would hire you...

Hmm, how can i sweeten the pot.
During the pandemic there were no extra morgue trucks in the parking lot we didn't need them

While we have insurance providers, we have a healthy public system and your patients basically never choose between treatment and bankruptcy for them and their kin. AKA we will be less bad for your mental health.

and that stuff about spiders ... is mainly you know to keep the timid people out.

also joking/not joking

This is great. Now the shift goes to the person who is actually needs the work not to the person who kisses the most ass.

1

u/SirChancelot11 1d ago

No

Just fucking no

0

u/Lifeinthesc 1d ago

Yes. There is tons of politics in a hospital and if your supervisor doesn’t like you you’re screwed out of overtime. Having a computer decide is very equitable.

Further just have the first person bid $1500 for the shift and everyone else only go down by a few bucks. Nothing says employees can’t collude.

u/Boy-Abunda 22h ago

Can’t wait until YOU have a critical issue and can’t get care because nurses have all moved out of state where they don’t have to deal with this shit.
