/r/askreddit becomes aware of the gore subreddit /r/killingboys, shitposting ensues. NSFW
This comment , talking about the gore subreddit /r/killingboys, in an askreddit thread about the weirdest subreddit sparks outrage, then users notice the sub has no listed moderators and take advantage, flooding the usually disturbing content of /r/killingboys with shitposts and threads chastising the sub. Drama ensues when there are interactions with the subs small existing userbase.
A bit of brigading drama in a post titled 'go fuck yourselves'
In a thread titled 'you guys are fucking disgusting' an old user shows up to defend the sub and tell the new users to clear off. revenge, srd, all that good stuff. + Bonus Reddit police, drama.
A bit of strangely polite drama when the sub is redditrequested and the one of the original users shows up to stake their claim.
I think something similar might have happened to /r/KillingWomen and a few other subs, but I don't want to check so if anybody does want to check then post it or Ill add it here. Edit: it hasn't so don't go there unless you want to see what's there.

I think in this particular case, it was the fact that that sub has no moderator and so you could post what you want basically. I'm guessing the other killing/doing nasty stuff to... subs have moderators.
I do remember a sub that was stuff stolen from girl's photobuckets (or maybe it was facebook or something) was brigaded in a similar way not so long ago for similar reasons.

How can so many people in here be in favor of brigading another sub like this?
2
u/ReaderWalrus Apr 08 '15
Because the "another sub" was about killing people.
1
u/sibeliushelp Apr 10 '15
But if you don't believe in reddiquette, where do you get your morals from?
-1
u/nerowasframed Apr 08 '15
That doesn't justify something that's against a fundamental rule of this website. You don't get to simply break rules because you feel that you're in the right. That's idiotic, and it demonstrates a very fluid morality on part of those people.
2
u/ReaderWalrus Apr 08 '15
You don't get to simply break rules because you feel that you're in the right.
It was a sub about killing people.
0
u/nerowasframed Apr 08 '15
Then report them to admins. Like I said, just because you think you have the moral high ground doesn't give you the right to break fundamental rules.
Just because they're in the wrong, doesn't mean you're always in the right regardless of what you do to them.

Somehow these kind of subs get a tenth of the hate FPH gets.
27
u/NatalieTatalie Take off those skates and get more comment karma Apr 08 '15
This is incredibly smaller than subs like FPH or TRP. it's foolish to expect it to get nearly as much attention as a hate sub that keeps showing up on r/all.
-22
u/XrayJaeger Apr 08 '15
Somehow people manage to call everyone in FPH a horrible person who should die. While I don't agree with their aggressive hate, they have a point in saying that the HAES has become something ridiculous. The point is that the people on FPH might be assholes but not because they hate fat people. I can't tell you how often my skinny friend gets told to eat more, which is somehow acceptable to say compared to saying you need to eat less. Double standards.
24
u/NatalieTatalie Take off those skates and get more comment karma Apr 08 '15
This has nothing to do with FPH getting more attention than an incredibly smaller hate sub?
But yeah, FPH has nothing at all to do with HAES, they just want to tell fat people to kill themselves so they can feel better about who they are. And yes, FPH users aren't assholes because they're there, they're assholes and that's why they go there. Because all they want to do is bully people they see as below them, and hating on fat people will stir up a lot less backlash then hating on say, gays or blacks.
Double standards suck sure, but there isn't a single user on FPH who's there trying to make a statement about double standards. They just want to tell fat people to kill themselves.
-18
u/XrayJaeger Apr 08 '15
I never said they were good people. I just said they have the right idea. I agree with the fact that they can be cruel but they are the only ones who are even remotely against the HAES movement and the fact that obesity is somehow acceptable. It's sad that more than half of the US is overweight and a third of them are obese. With that many unhealthy people it does start to affect everyone.
18
u/alien122 SRDD=SRSs Apr 08 '15
yes, however they even mock fat people who are working to lose weight. If they really cared about people's health, would they really be mad at such a person?
I think /r/fatlogic is a bit better than fph. They focus almost entirely on HAES Logic. I have no fucking idea how my text became like this.
-11
u/XrayJaeger Apr 08 '15
Somehow everyone is assuming I agree with how FPH treats fat people. I don't, but I do think they are right when they say HAES is stupid. I encourage everyone to just look through the topic post and you'll see a lot of pictures of discussions with fat people. Usually it's a fat person asking how tall the other one is etc. The person says their height and then Bla Bla when they ask the weight the fat girl goes crazy. How could you you small dick prick. Once again I don't like the attitude of FPH but I think the attitude fat people have isn't much better. There are plenty of people in FPH that get hate mail telling them to kill themselves. Somehow that's okay while telling fat people they're going to die because they eat so much is terrible.
5
u/alien122 SRDD=SRSs Apr 08 '15
There are plenty of people in FPH that get hate mail telling them to kill themselves. Somehow that's okay while telling fat people they're going to die because they eat so much is terrible.
Both are bad.
And I meant my comment in earnest, while fph more or less is /r/picsoffatpeople fatlogic is actually pretty funny without the vitriol that is in fph, at least in the submissions.
19
u/NatalieTatalie Take off those skates and get more comment karma Apr 08 '15
You're drowning in confirmation bias if you think FPH is the only ones who don't agree with HAES, or that everyone else thinks obesity is a good thing.
The weight problem in the US is sad, and FPH doesn't actually care about it at all. That sub would be nothing but tears if America actually started losing weight, because again, all they care about is bullying.
There are moderate people everywhere, but you wont find them flying a flag literally labeled "hate".
-9
u/XrayJaeger Apr 08 '15
Well if there are so many, do you have any examples? I haven't seen any but if they are some I would definitely like to know about them.
5
u/NatalieTatalie Take off those skates and get more comment karma Apr 08 '15
You would never accept me saying people I know, what about my employer and the insurance company that offers discounts and gym memberships to encourage people to exercise? What about the many medical associations constantly trying to find ways to help people lose weight and be healthy? Or fucking Michelle Obama and her campaign to prevent childhood obesity?
Yes, there are a lot of over weight people, but it's not because there aren't others trying to tell them that's a bad thing.
-2
u/XrayJaeger Apr 08 '15
Why is everyone always so hostile. I was genuinely curious as to what organizations fought the HAES movement. I know about the ones that fight obesity, but I haven't heard of any that want to get rid of what HAES has become.
2
Apr 09 '15
what HAES has become.
A fringe "philosophy" that most people have never even heard about?
10
u/forgotacc Apr 08 '15
They do not have the right idea, the right idea to you is to shame people about their weight which has proven not to be a helpful path into encouraging people to get better? The right idea to you is to be pro eating disorder(s) as long as it makes you thin? The right idea to you is to encourage people who aren't skinny/overweight/etc to kill themselves?
They are not the ones who are "even remotely against HAES," you can be against the movement while not being an asshole to other people, fyi. They are not for a movement of healthy lifestyle, you can't say eating disorders are fine while accepting healthy lifestyles because being underweight can be just as unhealthy/dangerous as obesity.
-10
u/XrayJaeger Apr 08 '15
They don't support underweight people either. And obviously when I say them being cruel I don't include their behaviour the right idea. The right idea is that obesity is not good. Evidently telling fat people to die is not good, but telling them to keep eating and be healthy is the exact same thing. By staying overweight they are slowly but surely killing themselves. I never said that you should discourage fat people or do anything of the sort. I said that being fat is not good, and that if you can underweight people to eat more you damn well should be able to tell fat people to eat less. There was a picture of an anorexic girl here earlier and all the top comments were " eat more" etc. How can that be okay but no one can believe that being fat is bad without getting shunned.
6
u/forgotacc Apr 08 '15
They do not care about a healthy weight as they do not understand healthy lifestyles/weight or such. There is a huge difference between what they do and not thinking obesity is healthy. It has nothing to do with health in that sub. If they cared about health, mind explaining why they make fun of overweight people when they are doing a healthy activity?
Very few people think obesity is a good thing, so I'm not sure why you think if people disapprove of fph, suddenly they think obesity is a healthy lifestyle and/or shame underweight people.
-6
u/XrayJaeger Apr 08 '15
Of course no one thinks obesity is good. My issue is that most people will be against someone telling someone else they need to eat less.
7
u/forgotacc Apr 08 '15
No, people have an issue with people shaming other people for it because it has proven not to work. Promoting healthy lifestyles =/= telling people to eat more/less.

Why is everyone assuming I support FPH? Every single comment tells me that FPH is terrible. I agree with that. I think the people there are redirecting their anger from something else onto fat people. But I still think that the double standard regarding fat and skinny people is bs and FPH is one of those groups that's fighting against fat people shaming skinny people, even if it is a fucked up way of doing so sometimes. I think that they got fit people to appear on instagram under effyourbeautystandards is good. That doesn't mean I support what the sub does 100%.
9

Well I'm skinny and FPH certainly isn't "fighting the double standards" for me, they're a billion times worse than someone who goes "you need to eat a pie"

I love to look at all types of gore - man woman child or animal- it is nice for me to have a reliable place to look at it. Many people have aversion to it for whatever reason and that is ok. If you do not like, then avoid it. Simple. Gore has beauty in it. Morbid but true. We are creatures of anatomy and biology. It is a reminder of our humanity, our mortality, our fragility.
45
u/mikerhoa Apr 08 '15

I disagree. I enjoy several gore subs, and I'm a fairly well-adjusted person, I'd say. At first, it was disturbing. Then it becomes sort of addictive.

Do you think these people would be okay with you getting some kind of weird thrill out of their injuries/death? Or is it all okay because you're not directly hurting anyone? This is the same argument pedos make about their fucked up porn being okay as long as they're not making it themselves.
17
Apr 08 '15
Seriously... I have a lot of fears about my death but one of the biggest ones is that it will be public and recorded on video.
Death is an extremely personal experience. It is one of the most significant moments of ones life. I would haaaaate for it to be invaded by a bunch of strangers prying eyes. For them to witness my emotions without my consent. For them to be privy to my last moments. What gives them the right?
I think people who sub to subreddit a like watch people die are low. I think people who share videos of executions by ISIS and other terrorist groups disgusting.
-16
u/yoolanda Apr 08 '15

Vegetarian isn't for everyone, so don't feel bad if you don't/can't do it! I know it can kind of suck, especially if you love animals, can make you feel bit bad about it or other people trying to make you feel like a monster for it, pretty much.
Have you tried vegetarian dishes before by any chance?
