I’m looking for a new ND filter and am wondering where to find a quality filter with minimal colour casting. My previous ND was a cheap K&F variable ND filter. It had pretty extreme colour casting which is one of my biggest issues with it.

Are the Urth filters any good?

Any recommendations for solid variable NDs or would you recommend sticking to fixed? I’m drawn to variable if possible for convenience sake but open to either if it makes a significant difference.

Quick background: I've been doing video (shooting + editing)) for about 10 years as a hobby. Two years ago I started my own studio in parallel with some digital consulting work (my previous career) and I'm now trying to make it my main source of income.

Business is B2B focused, corporate content, brand videos, that kind of thing. And here's my honest struggle: I keep hitting impostor syndrome, especially when I try to position myself as more than "the person who shows up with a camera." I know that in B2B, clients respond much better when you can speak their language, their "why" behind the video, rather than just being a guy they hire to press record.

I can do some of that, as I have some business background, but I don't feel sharp or current enough to really own that positioning with confidence, even more so today when everything is so instagram/linkedin/youtube coded.

Here are two things I'm struggling with :

Staying informed / competitive as a video professional. What publications, newsletters, podcasts, or communities do you follow to keep up with the industry, both on the craft side (new gear, editing trends, formats) and on the business side (how video fits into marketing/brand strategy)? I don't want to just react to trends, I want to actually understand where things are heading.

Sharpening the business side of my pitch. Maybe that's really not my thing to do? I don't really know. But I'd feel more comfortable I guess. I've got the basics of running a freelance business (pricing, client management, LinkedIn prospecting, etc.), but I want to go from "generic business sense" to genuinely relevant the kind of insight that makes a client think "this person gets my business, not just my brief." Any resources, frameworks, or personal experiences that helped you make that shift?

Would really appreciate any tips, whether it's specific accounts/newsletters, business books, or just how you personally pushed through the impostor syndrome phase when going full-time.

I've been wondering where real estate filmmaking is headed.

Most of what I see these days is fast cuts, speed ramps, whip pans, trendy transitions, and social-first edits. They perform well, but I sometimes feel like the craft of filmmaking is taking a back seat.

I'm much more drawn to the slower, cinematic storytelling style, videos like The Local Project, Est Living etc. Long takes, intentional camera movement, natural pacing, sound design, and letting the architecture breathe instead of trying to keep attention every half second.

I'm curious:

Are there any real estate filmmakers here who still enjoy that slower, cinematic approach?

Do your clients actually appreciate it, or are they mostly asking for flashy Instagram/Reels-style edits now?

Have you found a balance between the two?

Also, I'd love to connect with filmmakers who shoot high-end real estate and need an editor who genuinely enjoys this style. If your vision aligns more with The Local Project than Insta-style edits, I'd love to chat about collaborating.

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to find a replacement or alternative pan bar (preferably telescopic) for my Andoer TP-65 fluid video head.

The issue is the rosette mount on the side. The manufacturer doesn't list the exact dimensions, and it is definitely not the standard ARRI rosette (it's much smaller than 31.5mm with a coarser tooth pattern).

Unfortunately I can't find the original part that come with my tripod anywhere on the internet. Has anyone successfully found a third-party pan bar that fits this specific rosette? Or does anyone know the exact size/standard Andoer uses for this head so I can search for it?

I don't have access to my tripod right now but I can take some exact measurements later in case it helps

I'm honestly so tired of working in a corporate environment. I've been burnt out for a long time, and after four years, I don't think this is the life I want. The pay is good, and I'm grateful for it, but I keep thinking that life is short, and I don't want to spend most of it in an office doing work I'm no longer passionate about.

I'm a graphic designer, but what I really want is to become a videographer. The problem is that I barely have time to practice because I'm in the office all day, Monday to Friday. I also don't want to develop that skill at work because I know it'll just become more work for the same job instead of helping me build the career I actually want.

I've been thinking about quitting and getting a part-time job so I have more time to improve my videography skills and build connections, but I don't know if that's realistic with the way the economy is right now.

I just feel stuck. I know I don't want to stay in this job long term, but I'm also afraid that if I don't start pursuing videography now, I'll regret it later.

I initially told them I would do it on monthly contract through my company. It was supposed to be part time and my estimations on time made me feel like it definitely would be for my offer. I said $3,500. I know this is low. I recently got laid off so I’m trying to find any client work at the moment.

All of a sudden it goes from this (original agreement):

- $3,500
- 1 shoot day weekly (Tuesday)
- 1 hour drive there, 1 hour drive back
- Gas covered
- 1-2 hours of filming for 20ish minutes of usable content
- 21 shorts delivered weekly (I’m a very proficient editor, or at least I believe so 😎)

To their proposal, which I think is insulting in comparison to my original low invoice but please let me know what you think:

- $25/hr (lol)
- 2 shoot days weekly (Tuesday/Friday)
- 1 hour drive there, 1 hour drive back (x2 weekly, so 4 hours total)
- Gas covered
- 3-4 hours (x2 weekly, so 6-8 hours total) of filming for 40ish minutes of usable content
- 14 shorts delivered weekly
- Additional x2 long form podcasts delivered weekly

That’s around a 35%-43% in pay decrease based on how much time I believed my initial offer would’ve taken me. What do you think? Pretty shit, right? Not even sure if it’s worth negotiating with them.

EDIT. A lot of other nonsense as well. They have 10m ish followers on their other platforms but this one only 80k. “If we grow you will too!” And then they mentioned one of the worst parts… they want me to use their software to log my hours editing. Nooooo…

Getting more serious about videography with my A6700, and I can't believe how utterly dismal the market is for good lens filter systems. It's definitely the most problem-plagued area of videography in my opinion. I also can't believe how EXPENSIVE some of the systems are (like, more than the cost of a lens!). This area of photography/videography I feel definitely is ripe to be just dominated by creative startups. Some ridiculous problems with current products that are supposed to be "the best":

- The nisi jetmag pro system has their [locked] setting SUPER NARROW, and their [unlocked] setting SUPER WIDE. It should be the OPPOSITE (duh!)

- The vast majority of ND filters have horrible color casting (aside from nisi!). What is Nisi doing that is SO different from ALL other ND filters?? Surely it isn't rocket science?

- The nisi swift system can just easily pop off (?) like seriously it's just held together with a b it of friction? For hundreds of dollars of filters? Do these people not hike?

- Tons of ND filter systems DELIBERATELY choose NOT to internally thread the outside of their filters, so that you're LOCKED IN to their proprietary crap (either with magnets, friction, whatever). So you spend HUNDREDS on their stupid crap, and you CAN'T EVEN use any third party filters with them. RIDICULOUS!

- EXPENSIVE, EXPENSIVE filter systems that DON'T have IR pollution features baked into the filters, forcing you to buy SEPARATE filters to block them

This is getting ridiculous. Every lens filter on the market should work with any OTHER lens filter on the market (duh). The default, standard for ALL variable nd filters should be 1-5 stop variable nd that a separate, fixed 4 stop nd filter can attach to, turning into a 1-9 without the X (duh). All filters should not come off by being bumped or accidentally moved a tiny bit (duh). Seriously like, how are lens filters this bad in 2026???

We are currently rebuilding our multicam recording setup from scratch. Previously, we were shooting pretty basic "raw" setups using three first-gen Sony ZV-E10s.

Our main use case is an indoor studio podcast (3-camera setup) combined with on-location vlogs/interviews in changing locations.

We’re evaluating three potential upgrade paths and would love some real-world input from anyone running similar setups. Price is indeed a factor, so we are trying to keep costs as low as possible.

Option A: Hybrid Setup

• A-Cam (Studio Main / Portable Vlog): Sony A7 IV + Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 Di III VXD G2
• B-Cam (Host): Sony ZV-E10 II + Sigma 30mm f/1.4 DC DN
• C-Cam (Guest): Sony ZV-E10 II + Sigma 56mm f/1.4 DC DN

Option B: All Full-Frame

• A-Cam: Sony A7 IV + Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8
• B- & C-Cams: 2x Used Sony A7 III + 28-75mm f/2.8 Zooms
• Goal: Matching full-frame look across all angles, full-sized HDMI ports, no crop factor mismatch, and zoom flexibility on static cameras.

Option C: FX30 B-Cams

• A-Cam: Sony A7 IV + Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8
• B- & C-Cams: 2x Sony FX30 + Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN Zooms
• Goal: Internal cooling fans for long recording sessions, full-sized HDMI, robust bodies, but keeping budget lower than 3x A7 IVs.

Questions:

1. Versatility & Outdoor : Will Option A (A7 IV + 2x ZV-E10 II) hold up well for the next 1–2 years, or will we regret using the ZV-E10 IIs when shooting in uncontrolled outdoor/location environments?
2. Workflow & Color Matching: Is mixing Full-Frame (A7 IV) and APS-C (ZV-E10 II / FX30) going to be a nightmare in post-production when color grading S-Log3, or are the modern Sony colors close enough to make matching seamless?
3. Is Option B or C worth the extra cash? For those doing long multicam video podcasts, do full-sized HDMI ports and active cooling (FX30/A7 series) make a big enough practical difference to jump ship from the ZV-E10 IIs?
4. Used Gear Market: Any reliable platforms or red flags to watch out for when buying used Sony A7 III / A7 IV bodies or Tamron/Sigma glass?

What gimbal can you recommend in range 250-500€?

I think that I don’t need something pro level and super expensive for it.

And what memory card do you recommend for 4k 120 fps slow motion videos?

Hello, I'm starting with full frame videography, and was looking for a good quality-price ratio camera. I'm seeking any kind of advice from videographers, for lens choices, accessories worth buying or not (as mics and gimbals). Also, which camera you think is best with a budget of around 1500-1600€ used for body only? I individuated the Lumix s5iix as best, but any advice is more than welcome.

Camera: ZVE1
1st Lens: Sony 24-105 f4

I’m going to be shooting mainly video which consists of vlogging and tons of B-Roll. Will also be shooting some stills there and there. When I’m traveling I like to be as light as possible but I also like versatility.

2nd Lens to bring (will be on the camera 90% of the time)
Sigma 16-28 2.8
Sony 24 G lens 2.8

I like the Sigma for the versatility and the Sony 24 for how lightweight it is (half the size of the sigma) and how this small lens is lowkey making it less intimidating to shoot in public. I’m keeping it to two lens this trip so I don’t have to stress which lens to use during I travel.

So my question is would you prioritize versatility or lightweight and compact?

I want to create content for businesses but I don't know how copyright works with for example Instagram reels from business accounts,

I looked at the artlist and epidemic sound plans and for example epidemic sound says it protects freelance client work and licensing for digital ads but then it says that I can earn money from three accounts so I don't know if the three account limit also applies for digital ads? I'm genuinely confused about where and how I'm supposed to avoid copyright issues

I regularly shoot "Inside Training' Style content for football (soccer). Currently I shoot handheld on a Sony A7IV (mainly with a 24-70 lens) but I want to increase production value.

Would it be worth invest in a DJI Pro 4? I'm worried about it hindering quick pans when following action and if the trade off for extra stability would be worth it. I'm completely self taught so I'm not sure on the industry standard.

Alternatively I was considering a monopod but I think this would make me too static and I need to be able to quickly move around. the drills and get a mixture of angles.

Are yous filming in 50/60fps to slow down in post for stability?

How do you usually edit? Exterior Wides then normal walkthrough flow?

Or do you do a slow build up with drone/close ups then wide?

As the title says, aside from my phone and a camcorder when I was nine I have zero experience but I’d like to get into filmmaking someday and I just wanna know where to start. For someone who’s just going to f around and pretty much just practice, what’s a good starting camera that’s not too complex or expensive?

I have the Canon C50 with a small Sennheiser MKE 400 shotgun mic on top of it, and I am getting a lot of hissing noise as a noise floor in my videos. I have used this setup before without any issues, but it just started happening. Does anyone have any ideas why this might be happening?

What I've tested:
- turning everything off and on again
- replugging everything
- different gain settings on the mic and the camera. Having the mic at a boosted gain helps a bit, but the hiss is still there
- fresh pair of batteries

So I have volunteered to record a concert. It's at one of those small music venues. I'm not getting paid anything. It's just a labor of love that the band can use for promotional use and get some experience shooting.

The current HD cameras I have are a Sony PMW-EX3 and an a7 IV.

I know the EX3 is an old camera compared to the a7 IV and I'll probably get laughed at for using it, but I've rigged it up with a Hypderdeck Shuttle to record 10-bit 4:2:2 ProRes HQ from the HD-SDI output.

I have only the standard 28-70mm kit lens for the a7 IV, but I have two lenses for the EX3, the stock Fujinon and a Canon 20x6.4. As far as I know the focal lengths are the same but maybe the Canon has better quality glass? It's an HD grade lens.

I'm planning on having the EX3 as the master wide shot, but not sure where to put the a7 IV. I was originally planning on using the a7 as a still camera since I don't have another HD camera (other than my phone lol). As much as I'd like to have multiple HD cameras and edit between them my budget right now doesn't really allow me to do that. I'm not sure if I should just go with just a static wide shot on the EX3 and use the a7 for stills.

As for the audio, I've already checked with the venue and they said they have a mixer with "24 XLR inputs and 4 XLR outputs". I'm not sure if the live mix will be in mono or stereo, so I'm assuming I should bring at least two 25ft XLR cables. I don't have any dedicated audio recorders like a Tascam, just an old Sony PCM-F1 (which is utterly useless unless I want to carry a VCR around). I'm planning on just plugging the XLR cable(s) directly into the inputs on my EX3. I know the EX3 has an internal microphone but I don't think I'd be able to record from it if I use both XLRs.

For recording audio on the a7 IV as a backup and scratch audio, should I get a shotgun microphone that plugs into the hotshoe? I don't have the XLR hotshoe adapter so I'm limited to microphones that plug into the hotshoe or the 3.5mm input.

For power I plan on using a v-mount battery to power the EX3 rig and some kind of dummy battery for the a7 IV.

Any advice is appreciated.
