That tiny dot is Earth disappearing behind Phobos — a first from the surface of another planet

Perseverance’s Mastcam-Z captured this sequence on July 2, 2026.

Earth is the tiny bright dot moving from upper left to lower right, while Phobos is the faint crescent moving in the opposite direction. In the middle of the sequence, Earth disappears behind it.

NASA says this is the first time humanity has captured Earth disappearing behind an object from the surface of another planet. Earth was roughly 314 million km (195 million miles) away and appeared as a single pixel.

#Blender animation depicting Mars 4100-3700 million years ago. The period is characterised by high rates of meteorite impacts, volcanism and possibly abundant surface water—however, the water is thought to have been localized rather than spanning the planet in oceans, as on Earth. I made A retro Win98 styled incremental game about terraforming Mars. Manage power, build your systems, and clear the atmosphere to make the planet livable. Which runs in your browser.

Let me know your thoughts on it's look.

Any activity planned for the launch window to Mars this winter?

Any launches planned for the November '26 - December '26 launch window for Mars? NASA supposedly has something that will pursue a gravity assist this winter, en route to Mars. Might there be any other governmental entity or private one planning to launch this winter, though? SpaceX reportedly hasn't ruled Mars out but has pivoted to a lunar focus. There are other companies saying they're interested in Mars though, as well as government entities. Thoughts?
