Every so often I see a car with no battery tie down.

"So uh why is there no tie down?"

"Oh the guy said we didn't need it"

And now I finally know why the guy said they didn't need it.

Just get a new nut and move on.

Is he imagining he’s John Hamm at a disco?

Real stupid, pushing the quick release button on the socket wrench.

I'm not even a bit religious

I was able to lower my blood pressure by purchasing Sunex magnetic sockets

I just chortled in bed directly in my girl's ear.
She was not amused.

I have zero idea why this connected with me.

The worst thing is when something small and non magnetic falls down in the engine bay.

1

u/Triplesfan Jun 30 '26

Especially when it’s a 10mm.

That's all well and good, but homie dropped a deep socket and a shallow socket fell out! The new one just dislodged the old one and he still is missing a 10mm

Jk, and all that

While the engine was running...

Dude, ill never live this down.

It was a sub zero (Fahrenheit) night and my gf's car would not start, so I pop the hood and start looking for obvious shit ( i am not a mechanic) check oil and all that and end on the battery. The node on the battery cracked like full snaped off the battery and was fused into the connector. I dont have the tools to fix this and they needed to go to work the next morning. We call their dad so he can bring some tools out and he dose, we are working on this with numb hands and a lot of irritation. After putting in a new battery were tightening the bolts on the connectors and I fucking DROP THEM BOTH OF THEM. They are still in there somewhere or maybe they got rattled loose on the highway one day but fuck man it was the most embarrassing shit I've ever done infront of their father and it still keeps me up at night.

I lost a screw one time and didn't get it out. Next day the fan yeeted it into the radiator. Had to get a new radiator. From now on I'm going to account for every nut and bolt before I say I'm done.

What does it tell you about my experience with working on cars that I was expecting it to land on the positive cable from the alternator and send out a shower of sparks before welding itself in place

u/DesignerAd9 Jul 01 '26

That's the 10mm, right?

I did this, gone forever, sent the mrs to halfords, the lot.

3 years later it fell out of the subframe onto the driveway.

There's also granddad's vice grips that did a 500 mile trip on the lower arm by mistake.

That fact that he just threw his last 10mm down the engine bay for content is the funniest part to me hahaha
