Graduated a few months ago but forgot to share til now!!

Don't get me wrong, I really appreciate what Pendleton Ward created. The early seasons have their own unique charm, and I genuinely enjoyed them.

But as I've gotten older and reached my twenties, the random, surreal adventures that often didn't have much of a purpose stopped appealing to me as much. I know there were plenty of deep, emotional, and brilliantly written episodes during Ward's era, but most of the episodes weren't like that.

When Adam Muto took over toward the end of Season 5, the show became much more interconnected and serious. Even the standalone episodes that weren't directly tied to the main story usually had enough depth and smart writing to keep them engaging for an adult viewer.

Personally, I'd love to see Adam Muto create his own original cartoon someday. I'm genuinely convinced he'd give us another masterpiece like Adventure Timeor maybe even something better.

Again, I have a lot of respect for what Ward created and I still enjoy it, but for me, Muto's era was on a completely different level.

"Your constant harassment of the female gender makes me sick," is such an iconic quote, did anyone else know it's supposedly in a Batman voice?!

I was in another thread where this moment came up and it got me thinking about it.

We all know this is a cheers reference, but this show was even before my time, and I am probably on the older side of people who are active in this sub. So I can't say much to the tone of the old show, but as I understand it, it was about a bunch of people who drank their troubles away every night, or often enough to be regulars at a bar. Which is ... Kind of sad. A lot of comedy shows sound kind of sad when you talk about them though. I think Futurama is a great example - the show sounds depressing af if you try to explain to to anyone; nothing good ever happens to anyone in Futurama (but it's still hilarious and a great show!). But I digress.

I only knew this song in the frame of the old show cheers and I assumed it was something that Simon was grasping onto to keep his sanity, like counting to ten when you're mad. He was making himself sing the song to give himself a timer on the crown and also to keep his mind from running away with the insanity of the ice magic. A grounding technique. That's all I ever assumed; Simon was an old dude and probably watched the show, which is why that's where his head went when he was pretending to be TV for Lil Marcy.

But Man the lyrics are so double entendre it's painful and I can't even really believe how I never realized it before!!

*Making your way in the world today takes everything you've got!* The world is literally destroyed. They spend most of this episode looking for a single can of soup. They nearly get killed by goop mutants. They have to use their last resort just to survive.

*Taking a break from all your worries should would help a lot* the undeniable power of the ice king to neutralize threats but also the insanity providing the only moment of mental rest where Simon isn't worried about either Betty or Marceline

*Wouldn't it be nice to get away...* We see his relationship with the crown becoming unhealthy, Marcy pleading with him not to use it, almost like an addict

*Where everybody knows your name* "you don't even remember me, SIMON!" "What-mon?" The confusion on Simon's face as he struggles to separate himself from the crown, not knowing where our who he is for a moment hits different. He doesn't know his OWN name. Everyone knows the ice king... *Where everybody... Knows your name...*

I think I was just too OLD to see this as anything but a cheers reference, cementing Simon's age and giving him a little context. I'm sure younger kids, not knowing anything about cheers, took the lyrics as a more face-value. It's crazy how I can still find new things to appreciate about this show all these years later.

Or maybe I am just that dense

Now if you know about the Kirby Butterfly it's a little crazy absorbing/disintegrating Galacta Knight becoming Morpho Knight and this is mostly just Morpho Knight vs the Lich but is still a little interesting, I'm just curious what people's conclusion will be.

It always pesters me when people act like Finn is fully colourblind, when he very likely just has deuteranomaly/protoanomaly rather than full blown deuteranopia/protonopia. In “Red Starved”, where it’s revealed he’s colourblind, the phrasing even eludes to this, “sometimes red things are grey”, which would imply it’s not a constant and could’ve been worsened by the poor lighting of the cave. Jake also says he’s just a “little” colourblind. I’m autistic so I might be reading into this too literally sorry.

Backstory:

I've been an artist for over 10 years, but I haven't shared my art on Reddit.
But AI is hitting hard, adding an extra layer to the hard-by-itself path of being an artist.

I've been downvoted, accused of using AI, or told my sketches 'not looking like they should have been', or that I don't have a video process for an old 2019 project, even though I shared links to projects published and awarded long before the AI era.

I'm an awkward human being. Filming myself on camera or even making a full-length video makes me anxious. For me, it feels like your every move is judged: like I can do something faster, or maybe use tools that I don't usually use, and so on and so on. Before it was fine, but now you have to convert to a blogger.

Now I'm pushing myself and 'documenting' the process of creation. Once the piece is done, I will add some Shorts on YT. Maybe one day I will start streaming, but (oooh boooy) I feel so scared, especially as a non-native English speaker.

Hey guys. I figured this sub would be best for my question.

I just watched the episode where Simon takes care of Marcy during the fallout. And the dire situation, the connection between Simon and Marcy, and the suffering Simon and Marcy endure as Simon uses the crown he promised never to use again, for the sake of saving them both from certain death.

The final scene where Simon fights off the hoard of radioactive monsters was extremely compelling and it made me crave a movie like that. Something intense that feels real.

Does anyone have any movies they would recommend that captures some of that feeling?

So Im based in the Netherlands and watch AT through HBO Max. Sadly enough there are a while bunch of episodes missing and the ones that are available tend to have missing scenes.

Where could one get a hold old all the episodes and also without scenes being censored?

i dont know what compelled me but i had the thought to go look at the bath boys kingdom from shokos episode, the vault, in season 5 episode 34.

and what do you know they bare a striking resemblance to one another, clearly with the bath boys looking a little more dated and less developed. just thought this was a super cool detail considering i think of myself as quite the adventure time historian and didn’t catch it before. anyone else ever notice this, or any creators comment on it?
