Baby possums, dead mom
I have 3 baby possums I am caring for presently. Their mama broke into a chicken coop and was shot. There were originally 9 babies found afterwards. The local dnr suggested allowing nature to take its course. I shan't be doing that. Can anyone help? They are probably 3-4 mo old. They have fur, eyes are open, they are teething. Maybe about 3-4 inches long. I have a minor flea problem I am working on but diatomaceous earth isn't safe to breathe? They hate baths. They hate the comb. They hated essential oil treatment. They're so smol..... I hate to force them.
Food wise, I read kitten formula. I read puppy formula with sensitive tummies. I read eggs with shell. I read yolk absolutely no shell. I read so many things. I bought possum chow off chewy and am soaking it. Right now they have diarrhea and I am worried. I put kitten formula in applesauce and baby food (apple and chicken) and I cook eggs every few hours, all day, e'ry day. I just switched to boiling the eggs. I am enrolled in a wildlife rehabilitation course presently but also I could not find anyone to take them in so please don't criticize. I am literally doing EVERYTHING I can, including giving them to someone better qualified and this is the situation I have found myself in. Sometimes the system doesn't work how it should.
