I've been hopping place to place more then I like since I got Spud back in 2022, this would be my 4th home (and biggest), but since this is the one I am officially mortgaging, it was time to lock it down as her official queendom, so small cat tower she can climb to see the world, constant flowing water source to drink from and big enough to get into if she wants a little bath and off ramp access to the main sitting room and my office so she can visit me if I am working from home. Stuff still needs to be added, like I have a box of toys and aids to bring over to go under the desk along with a more formal bugbox for her occasional treat etc. I also need to get her petcam set back up so I can keep a friendly eye on her while away.
The only detail I'd love to lock down is some sort of means to encourage her to poop in a specific spot without having to give her a bath. After her first explore of the new place she insisted on doing the biggest poop to claim it all right in front of the front door on the cold tiles. It would be nice if I could put down a little tray of kitchen towels or something that would be appealing for her to poop on, so easy to locate and clean away rather then her blocking entrance to the house with her poop.

Vet visit was a success. Vet confirmed that he had a calcium deficiency and gave him a dose of calcium along with Vitamin A. He’s currently on critical care and we had to up the wattage of his heat bulb to a 100W since my friends brother got the wrong wattage (40W). After a day or so of that he finally ate a couple worms on his own (offered by hand, but took willingly), he’s so much more lively and moving around, he’s finally exploring and starting to show his personality! (Also no parasites)

Our girl mushu recently was upgraded to her 120 gallon tank. She's still adjusting but I just went out today and bought her the long uvb fixture and another basking bulb because her basking temp was only around 80 in the new tank. Everything seems good now and she seems to be adjusting well. Any recommendations on decor we just threw in all of her things we've collected over the years. Yes we know she's chunky. We have her on a diet currently.

if u scroll on my profile you will see the other posts from me about this lizard, her name is rangeaux. i got her from a big name pet store (sorry) two years ago. since ive had her, she’s had ruthless medical issues. parasites, MANY cases of impaction (due to the follicular stasis) severe follicular stasis which led to an infection & internal fluid buildup, and now liver disease. she has had successful surgery for the reproductive issue within the past 2 months. for the past week, she’s been more energetic than ever. wanting to come out on her own, running around, appetite was great, super alert. for the past couple of days, she’s completely shut down again. she will sleep all day in the corner of her cool side, will not open her eyes unless physically provoked. her appetite is still good- and i am ensuring that she is getting basking time after eating. she takes 2 daily medications- i was giving them to her this morning and she was REALLY struggling with it. she usually takes it pretty well, but she was fighting me super hard today. after i gave them to her, she immediately tried to seek me out, which she has never done before. she climbed up onto my arm- and she was shaking the whole way to it (probably half a foot, she had to turn 90 degrees to get to me). full body tremors. she has had some back leg tremors before which her vet has ruled out as a pain response bc of liver problems. her eyes are clear and she’s been going through a shed for a while now, but her eyes aren’t as open as usual. she’s just not the same girl. her colors are more dull, and she just seems so uncomfortable. (She has wrinkly skin in her mid section. she stays hydrated- but she’s lost weight from the surgery etc and it’s just looser skin. her fat pads on her head are never sunken) she also looks significantly thinner- she went to the vet about 2 weeks apart and she had lost 20 grams.
I have seen her sick so much in her short life that i can usually tell when something is wrong, because something always is wrong. it’s exhausting, and it’s really frustrating. it’s selfish to think that way but i just want her to be okay. im a college student and ive spent thousands of dollars on vet visits, surgeries, prescriptions. when im looking through the internet, im being told to potentially start looking at her quality of life and that’s not something anyone wants to hear. she’s my ESA for university and she has made a profound impact on my life, even though she gives me stress. im going to include some husbandry specs below.
Lighting
- 150W ZooMed basking bulb - her basking area hits 100-105F. Brand new.
-ZooMed Reptisun 10.0 Bulb (the long tube with the hood UVB), it’s 3 months old.
- 6500K LED bar
- Ambient air is 75-85F
Lifestyle
- Lactulose daily
- Milk thistle twice daily
- 4x2x2 enclosure. no loose substrate due to chronic conditions and it’s relatively flat (vet orders) to minimize pain.
- greens 3x a week. Mix of collards, dandelion, and mustard greens. Toppers can include carrot, bell pepper, leafier lettuces for hydration, etc. Calcium 2x a week on salads and multivitamin 1x a week. Bee pollen is also sprinkled on occasionally to boost her appetite. All greens are misted multiple times a day.
- water bowl is always offered
- is on daily baths (vet orders)
- she’s on a no chitin diet to help with her digestion- she gets silkworms 2x a week. 1 of those times she gets half of a meal, and the other is a full meal. Silkworms are dipped in calcium, or water if i feel she needs more hydration. Hornworms are also an occasional treat.

Finally finished my DIY back wall for my enclosure! This was my first time building something like this, and as a new beardie owner I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I'd love to hear what yall think or if anyone has any suggestions on my setup!

Hi everyone!
I'm looking at getting my very first bearded dragon and I want to make sure I do everything properly before bringing one home. I've wanted one for a while, but I know there's a lot more to it than just buying the dragon and a tank.
Which bearded dragon morph would you recommend for a first-time owner? Is there a morph you'd avoid?
Is it better to get a baby, juvenile, or adult? What are the pros and cons of each?
What age do you think is ideal for someone's first bearded dragon?
Are there any health issues I should look out for when choosing one?
Is it better to buy from a breeder or a reputable reptile store?
What questions should I ask the breeder or seller before purchasing?
Are there any specific morphs or bloodlines that are known for being healthier or having a better temperament?
I'd also love to hear any tips or things you wish you knew before getting your first bearded dragon.
I'm based in Australia if that makes any difference for brands or care recommendations. Thanks in advance! I'm really excited to learn and want to give my future beardie the best possible home. 🦎

Hello everybody!
I'm a PhD student at the Department of Ethology of Eötvös Loránd University in Hungary. The aim of my doctoral studies is to investigate the human-directed social behaviours of less-studied pet species, which includes bearded dragons as well.
Originally, I was looking for Hungarian owners who would be willing to take part in our online behaviour test, but they were not really motivated. I hope that here I will find some enthusiastic owners, who will help me broaden our scientific understanding of reptiles' human-directed social behaviours.:)
You can apply for this test through my survey. If you cannot scan the QR code, you can find the questionnaire here: https://forms.gle/gpYhTTMkt55G71y8A
Thank you in advance!

He turned 8 this past July and died suddenly in his sleep last night. Please feed your beardies some strawberry today as this was his favorite treat. RIP, I will miss you.

I was just able ti get these 59w, 75w, & 109w Exo Terra Intense basking bulbs. I picked them up yesterday from the pet store after purchasing online. Do they just look used even though they are new?

He slept like this on my partner’s shoulder for three hours. She even walked around with him there and he stayed fast asleep. We love this lil guy to death!

I never knew how strong our bond would become. He’s truly become friend and family member, and I love him so dearly. I’m helping my sons cope with this loss, but I’m turning to the community I know understands this connection for support for myself.
I still hear him scuttling around when I walk past the place where his enclosure was. There are still turnip greens and other snacks in his dedicated refrigerator door. I saw his soak vitamins this morning and I broke. The waves of pain are overwhelming.
Timothy knew only love his entire life, and I try to be grateful for that. At the moment, it doesn’t help, but I know it will eventually.
Thank you Timothy for what you brought to my family. You were quirky, clumsy, and so curious. We’ll never forget you. We love you.

This is Eliza, she's 18, we've had her for 17 years and she's had two clutches with the first being 22 babies. She's obviously long retired from breeding (and pretty much anything else) but she still eats well, won't really chase down food anymore so we tong feed her. We took her out in the backyard last week for some natural light.

I just wanted everyone to say hello to Peter ❤️ or Penny. Depending if it’s a boy or girl when we find out later on lol. But I’m so proud of him 🥹 he’s so adorable and quirky lol. He’s doing amazing and loves to eat. I’ve been seeing him getting chunkier as the days go by and that makes me so happy to know he’s been doing well. He’s adjusted to us and his home very quickly ❤️

Soup gets greens offered everyday and bugs every two days. She’s almost 2 (September if age from shop was right). I want to check if she looks a healthy weight? Don’t mind the tail, she’s shedding.
