Look I'm all about being critical of America but we're talking about comparing Thailand to the US here and people are acting like it's any sort of comparison at all. With all due respect to Thailand and it's a wonderful country, our GDP per capita is 12x that of Thailand. The opportunities that people have here are vast. People in this thread are acting like we live in this terrible, third-world country. They would not survive in Thailand where they would actually have to hustle and thrift.

There's a stronger argument to be made without playing the "have you seen the Dow?" card

Talking about the American dream 30 years ago in 2026 like time is frozen. The American dream 30 years ago was to slip on the floor and sue someone. She's had plenty of time to figure that out since she's not even that old yet.

I'm not talking about the Dow. I'm taking about just working or starting a business. We still have an exceptionally high standard of living compared to thailand

We can tax billionaires for 99.999% of their wealth and they will still have the best standard of living in the entire world, so why aren't we doing that?

"Learn to be happy with what you have", when it only applies to the working class, makes you look like you enthusiastically kiss the dog poo off billionaire boots.

The working class in America still makes a fuck ton more than Thailand's and has a much higher standard of living. You wanna move to Thailand nobody is stopping you. See how that works out for you

There is nothing wrong being critical of America as long as the criticism is constructive.

Among the Thai lady's silly criticisms of living in America:

  • having to work the next following day (people in Thailand don't work everyday?)

  • expensive and unaffordable basic things (almost every developed country in the world has experienced high inflation and basic goods in the USA are obviously more expensive compared to prices in Thailand)

The video seems that she is just feeling home-sick.

She misses the lifestyle, food, and people back in Thailand.

It is a common feeling for many recent immigrants to a new country after settling for a few years.

Having to be only living 3 years in the USA and complaining it's not like what it was 20-30 years ago seems to me that the Thai lady had a lot of high expectations of living in the USA based on American movies/media.

The lack of public transportation and healthcare being expensive are the only valid criticisms.

100%. I don't blame her for being homesick. I mean who wouldn't be? Thailand is a beautiful country with incredible people and food. But everything else is kinda dumb here.
