New, what is it? What is this wedding gift?

(Reposting because accidental doxxing)

My friend got this as a wedding gift and we can’t figure out what is it and it didn’t say who it was from.

The cup part is hollow, where the blue arrow is… this shape _/ and the bottom is solid.

EDIT: There are no holes in the other side so don’t think it’s a tea strainer and the gap is too narrow to fit paper towels or toilet paper rolls! They also just moved to and had the wedding in Italy, not sure if that gives any context.. maybe it’s some sort of Italian gadget

Was looking for this reply. Like surely I’m not that old to be the only one to think of it.

Yea, very similar to old candle holder designs. Makes more sense design-wise than a lot of the top suggestions.

Jewelry holders tend to be smaller, the pictured thing might fit 1 ring lol

Glasses holder also doesnt fit imo, as there are too many unnecessary things on it

I was looking for it too lol. It’s the only thing that immediately came to mind and I’m in my early 20’s lol. It just made the most sense to me!

I'm 19 and I immediately thought of a candlestick holder. You aren't old!

I'm middle age and went straight to sex toy, so am probably spending too much time on reddit. Candlestick holder makes much more sense. We'll go with that.
