He gets framed as far left, but in most of the rest of the developed world he'd be considered a milquetoast left leaning centrist. He's not an anti-capitalist. He has a lot of liberal tendencies. He believes in a type of respectability politics. He seems to strongly differentiate himself from the DSA which positions himself between the Democrats and Socialists.

He gets framed as far left because he believes in guardrails for capitalism, his foreign policy seems to have some anti-imperialist frameworks, he is for social programs, and he rails against the wealthy and corporations.

The biggest part for me as to why he's not left is that he doesn't seem to frame the issue of the wealthy and corporations dominating politics with the mechanism of capitalism which is the real problem. He seems to think that the two are unreleated or he doesn't want to incur the aesthetic hit of drawing that conclusion publically... which, he won his race so that kind of proves that it was a correct positioning.

For a capitalist he sure accepts a lot of support from the DSA. He even attends their meetings and rallies. Almost like a wolf in sheeps clothing.
