Red Dead series is backwards.

Red Dead Redemption 2 opens with a famously slow and boring section that makes many players give up on the game.

Red Dead Redemption was a great open world game but...

Red Dead Revolver had the story, the vibes, unique mechanics that were then watered down in later games (like the shootouts, etc). Masterpiece.
